Quick Questions Thread

This thread (to be posted every four weeks) is a place for people to ask quick, common, or simple questions regarding Nihon Falcom and its games. The community is encouraged to ask here if your question is not opinion-based, such as where to find something in a game or when something occurred. Please mark all spoilers with the >!text!< format and remember to provide context.

If you post a new thread and your question is redundant (it has been posted on this subreddit recently), we will remove it. Additionally, we have made a Frequently Asked Questions wiki page for these. Please check there first before asking!

Joke question threads will be removed and joke answers should be kept to a minimum.

Please feel free to continue to post separate threads on this subreddit for content you expect to generate more interesting discussion, for example news, opinion-based discussion posts, and links.

Feel free to check out the subreddit wiki or the Discord server.

Just rewatched it, and I can kind of see where you're coming from. Whether or not you can suspend disbelief is up to the person, but I've never really seen some people criticize this portion of the cutscene before.

Things I noticed:

-They weren't expecting Tita to show up and start blasting. That distraction pulled them from their original plan.

-Estelle wanted to act first, think later (like you're correctly led to believe her personality is) but Agate/Josh convince her to follow their plan.

-The time when you're thinking Josh/Estelle should be focusing on Russel, they're focusing on a kid who just showed up and has the attention of Jaegers. If anything, Estelle's rashness should have her taking the hit instead of Agate, and Josh (maybe) could have been the one to focus on securing Russel.

I think the fact that a child showed up when they weren't expecting it and was in danger of being shot takes more precedence over saving Russel. Agate has until now been adamant Tita does not interfere, she's a kid. So his attention is purely on saving her (for reasons later revealed, I think? I wont say them now just in case but they may be revealed in the first game).

Josh and Estelle are junior bracers as well. They didn't handle the new wrench thrown in their plans and didn't capitalize on saving Russel.

Edit: I guess it's also worth mentioning the priority of Tita over Russel makes sense considering Russel was never in danger of being killed. Tita, on the other hand, was not so from a priority standpoint the one most in danger is Tita. They kind of downplay the violence after the fact (The Jaegers scolding their comrade for potentially shooting a kid) which kind of dampens the blow but I think a point can be made of it.

Just my two cents, though. Some people probably won't buy those excuses.
