Customs, VAT etc. My Global blue tax refund was rejected. Any advice appreciated
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice regarding a Global Blue tax refund issue.
My refund was rejected because the customs stamps were placed in the wrong spot. Instead of stamping the official Global Blue form, the airport officer stamped the store receipt. I believe the officer was new — he had to consult with colleagues and seemed unsure how to process the paperwork, and unfortunately the mistake was made.
When I later contacted the French Consulate in Los Angeles to schedule an appointment, they told me I first need to write to the French customs agency (PAI – Pôle d’Action Économique) explaining why the form was not properly stamped. Only after receiving authorization from them would I be able to book an appointment with the French Consulate in Los Angeles.
Has anyone here gone through this process?
• How long did it take?
• What exactly did you include in your explanation to PAI?
• Did you need additional documents besides receipts and the original form?
I’d really appreciate any advice on how to handle this efficiently and actually receive the refund.
Thank you in advance!

I have the same case. My claim was rejected a few months back and i only realized this week. Rejection due to i correct customs stamp. In the email global blue said that they do not accept corrections hence refund cannot be issued. Im now submiting an appeal.

I was not even able to claim global blue in Helsinki. We checked the items we brought in our check in baggage. When I went to customs to get a stamp, they wanted to see the items. I've done this many times in Germany and Amsterdam and never had to show the items.

What did global blue say when you asked them how to proceed?
