The reason why the West fear communism
The Western fear of communism is not, as the doctrinal system would have you believe, a principled defence of freedom or democracy. If that were true, the United States would not have spent the better part of the 20th century dismantling democratic movements all around the world. It's because the entire justification for the current power structure would collapse and leave the oligarchs stripped of their ability to enrich themselves beyond what is reasonable to an ordinary human being.

I'll tell you more - CIA was established as specifically anti-communist government agency. Not just "one of the purposes", but "the actual purpose above all else". They didn't gave a F for drug trafficking into US, for example, but worked hard to establish traffic into socialist block.
