Hi all - I'm revisiting ETS for the first time in a very, very long time. I'm aiming to play exclusively in VR with the highest fidelity possible and so far my experience has been kind of disappointing.

Compared to what I see on YT videos it's like night and day - I just feel like I'm missing something obvious and the more I research the more I find conflicting advice and info - and nothing really seems to work. Talk that most mods don't work in VR or shouldn't be used anymore. From what I understand any of the Reshade mods don't work in VR?

My setup:
Quest 3 + Virtual Desktop
RTX 5080
64GB RAM
Streaming over Wifi-6e

Performance wise it's great so far (90fps in headset) - it just looks like a 20 year old game and nothing I try seems to help.

Maybe it's not a fair test but I'm starting in Edinburgh and I know it's an older part of the map.

I've tried various workshop mods for "Realistic graphics", "Brutal weather", "Weather" (including the ones that say VR specific), "Better texturues" - but it doesn't seem to make any difference in headset.

I've got all the texture settings dialed up to high but trees / vegetation look like simple billboards, textures on the road and hillsides especially look honestly bad. It just doesn't line up with what I see on YT videos yet none of the mods I try seem to improve anything.

What am I missing? What's the most up to date combination of in-game / Quest 3 settings and mods to get the best experience possible (given an RTX 5080).

I'm currently looking for someone who's interested to look into a new mouse that I'm designing that uses the scroll wheel as a steering wheel.

So, the scroll wheel looks and behaves like a rotary dial. I built it to alleviate my finger joint pain and inadvertently, it also serves other useful purposes like faster scrolling and scrubbing video timelines.

I also feel it has other uses such as acting as a steering wheel in driving sims, in effect replacing keyboard or acts as a miniature steering controller.

So, you turn with mouse dial left and the steering wheel in the sim turns left, vice versa.

I've managed to test it out on ETS2 and seems to be working with the aid of AutoHotKey software.

I am trying to figure out manufactor irl year release between R / S and R / S Super and the small in-game difference between their engines.

ETS2 truck info vs irl truck info are so different.

What would you like to see in future ets 2 updates??

Do you guys know why the truck keeps making this 'air' noise constantly? It is always when I'm on throttle. Also it seems I'm now always running low air.

Took the old 143 out to collect a caravan thought be a nice light load.

I'm trying to understand ETS2 road scales. If you travel on empty straight road at 100km/h and 3 real time minute passed, you should've travelled 5km but game will say you travelled more. If scale is fixed at 1:20 game says its 100km. But in reality you only travelled 5km in game roads right?

I was wondering how sensible some of my trucks' configs are compared to in real life. I noticed that the most common chassis used is a 4x2, and for heavier trucks, they tend to use a 6x2. But what about these mid-lifts? also the tag-lift; these seems to be rare, and the game doesn't really showed me NPC/AI trucks driven with these configs as far as I remember.

Bro I really miss some maps with snow, even the Scandinavian dlc hasn't snow! I wonder if they're gonna add it someday.

I'm trying to make a custom music pack (for menus, deliveries, hurry up, etc) but i cannot make it work right and i need good tutorials about it. Have any idea?
