Fuck it, let’s just appoint him and get it out of the way. Put in some quality assistants and very high KPIs. If he fails, Welsh falls on his sword too. No point in wondering what could have been and it’s going to cloud the process anyway.

How about he does it for free or minimum chips, pay the assistants well and if it fails, which it will, the club isn't left with yet another coach debt.
