Become friends with your neighbors!! They might have some more tips than I do ;)

β€’

u/midnightDOLPH1N Year 5 May 23 '17

Want easy food and no problems with melting ice. Mountain house or backpackers pantry dehydrated food and a jet boil. Full all day and it was ridiculously delicious

β€’

u/oSpaZMaNo Mod Undersight Committee May 25 '17

Don't forget to bring a towel!

β€’

u/stOAKed919 May 29 '17

Leave a good chunk of free time to explore the forest and find music you might have never thought to enjoy! See y'all in the forest!!

β€’

u/lpv_sage May 24 '17

Get one of those huge mylar balloons, like the ones that say Happy Birthday on them, and attach a couple small LED lights to them.. fly this from the antenna of your car or something else stable at your camp. Trust me this will make finding your tent much easier when it's late at night and everything is getting a little bit weird. See you in the Forest!!

β€’

u/[deleted] May 27 '17

Body Glide is your best friend for extending the number of hours you can dance and your ability for your legs to recover for the next day. Use with adult body wipes for a refreshing porta-shower while inbetween shows.

β€’

u/[deleted] May 26 '17

My one tip for someone attending this year would be to bring a canopy for you campsite. As someone who made that mistake my first festival waaaay back in Bonnaroo 2006, trust me you don't want to be baking in the heat with no shade when chillin' at your campsite. Two years ago our neighbors not only didn't have a canopy, but none of them brought chairs either. That was the ultimate.

β€’

u/stophias May 23 '17

Bring a disposable camera! You won't worry about breaking it/having it stolen, and you'll have some amazing prints for a photo album when you get home :)

β€’

u/Wagneo May 23 '17

Wow this is an unreal giveaway, whoever wins will be able to hook their group up fat!

My piece of advice is to make a schedule, then burn it when you get to the festival because you wont need it. Catch the couple big sets you're looking forward to, but I guarantee you'll leave with a new favorite artist if you stray away from your usual music taste.

β€’

u/ImBBQ May 24 '17

Don't get too wrecked until you have a good sense of where your campsite is. Partying can happen all the time but you don't want the party to go sour when you can't find your campsite.

β€’

u/[deleted] May 23 '17

If there's a line at spicy pie, they're just spun, walk right to the front

Leave some dry clothes, towels and some water in your car. You will be dirty, thirsty and possibly wet when you leave this magical place, but you'll be happy!

If you don't already, start taking a multivitamin/drinking water/generally taking care of your body now. We're under the 30 day mark, and you really don't want to end up sick before or during Forest!

β€’

u/RoachinRay May 29 '17

Bring a camel pack, not only will it keep you hydrated but it can also carry your belonging! Don't forget your pizza pouch either, so you can carry around an extra slice is Spicy Pie!

Remember to PACE yourself! It is not a contest. Stay hydrated and take breaks(hammocks are great!). Be kind to those you meet and make lots of friends! And most of all, HAVE FUN!!! ❀❀❀ See you all in the Forest!

β€’

u/glowskir May 24 '17

Bring little gifts to give to people you meet as you're traveling through the forest to spread the love. Doesn't matter what it is, wrapped candy, bracelets, art, flowers, anything! 🌲🍭🌸🌜

β€’

u/Lostpoliticians May 27 '17

Do NOT forget to bring a bandanna or some sort of mask to cover both your mouth/nose because forest is one dusty festival, you'll thank me later when you get back from forest and aren't hacking up a lung or chunks of green/yellowish goo.

u/MusicBomarc Year 1 May 27 '17

Don't drive home overtired after the festival. Take an extra day to take it easy and make sure you arrive home in 1 piece.

β€’

u/SleepingWithRyans Year 9 May 23 '17

Bring wet wipes for to the porta potties for both the seat and for your goodies (use different wipes for both- don't make it weird).

Also, make sure to take in the whole spectacle of the forest, even if it means ditching your friends for a while. There's so much greatness to find in the forest, but some things require paying close attention.

Remember to just stand in awe of everything a few times per day. Just take a deep breath and realize that you're home.

β€’

u/toddrenaud May 23 '17

β€’

u/bauncehaus The Big Dipsters May 25 '17

Make sure you get into a fight on the first day or else people will think you're a punk.

On a serious note: goldbond/baby powder can be a lifesaver, and morning Gatorade/pedialite/recovery drink of choice can be a godsend.

β€’

u/ChrispB15 May 27 '17

Be open to exploring the forest on your own or with strangers, it's the different perspectives that make EF so amazing

β€’

u/michigandank May 24 '17

Bring a hammock and buy one of those blow up chairs if you hate standing or walking without a nice place to sit. Sometimes I'd wait 3 hours for a show I'd want and sit on the ground and always wish I had a nice comfy chair or Matt

u/Mpedz12 May 23 '17

PRO TIPS:

My tip would be to get a camel bak (only put water in it) and drink lots of it

Don't bring a ton of food (you never eat it all, and there is ton of good reasonable food at the venue.)

If you have a group bring a telescoping flag pole (it is easy to put away when you want to dance, and easy to pull out when someone from your group wanders to the bathroom and needs to find you)

Sleep at least 4 hours a night (bring ear plugs and a sleeping mask to block noise and light) Melatonin helps too

Bring a canopy - if it rains you will want shelter to still hang with your group - if it sunny you will have shade

Test Kit - check out Dance Safe

Make friends with your neighbors - have them look out for your site and you look out for theirs

Go to Saturday Night Cheese - even if Jam isn't your thing

Explore artists before you go to forest (you will find tons of artists you like, and haven't heard of before)

Go to the Water Park

Take time to explore the forest and get lost (it is easy to run from artist to artist and never explore the forest)

Bring an external battery pack to charge your phone

Bring warm clothes (it can get cold at night)

Chafing Spray (you walk, a lot)

Tums (especially if you are drinking)

Tarp for under your tent (it helps with rain/moisture in the tent)

Some sort of rain gear (I was at TomorrowWorld and will always have some sort of rain gear from now on)

Print off the schedule and keep it with you

Oh and eat Spicy Pie!

Find those Amish Pretzels and just enjoy them while they last. Share them with friends.

Also, freezing big jugs of water instead of buying ice is a good way to utilize cooler space.

Bring and wear plenty of sunscreen! And don't forget to reapply throughout the day! You won't want to end up crispy after one day, we only want our pizza crust crispy! ;)

Definitely get a Camelbak, and try to avoid the knockoff Walmart brand if you can - the mouthpiece leaks after you start using it.
