Equipment tent / canopy advice
so here's the thing... i'm tall. i'm 6' and every festival i have been to i have had to change hunched over and moving in and out of my tent has always been uncomfortable. my best friend and i are going to forest for the first time this year. i wanted your guys' opinions on if this would fit in the campsite with our car? we're gonna be in GA (rite of passage, right?) and were *hoping* to have a canopy. but fitting the tent is the major priority.
do you think i'd be able to fit this tent AND a small canopy, just the tent, or find a new tent option?

We have taken this tent to 4 different festivals and this was my favorite set up. It was at Lostlands, a 10’x 35’ space, including our 16.5’ SUV. The tapestry is hanging over the back of the car, but the back end was actually under the canopy about a foot.

Questions ✨
what kind of bed did you go with, cot or air mattress? What are you hanging in the shoe organizer? How was the tents in terms of how hot it was? I did EF with no canopy and I was baking :(

We have a Coleman cot with air mattress.
The shoe organizer is basically anything to keep things less messy. So wipes, Tylenol/medication, deodorant, first aid, sunscreen, scissors, batteries, etc.
It does get steamy. I’ve tried a few things. Canopy side pieces are great for darkening the room but restricts the airflow. So the tapestries/sheets have improved that. If they had a blackout version of this set up, I’d be sold instantly. My old blackout tent leaked terribly but was perfect for blocking out the heat and light. But also we keep battery operated fans going/open the side windows for air movement.

Sameeee, this setup is so goated. I run this at lost lands each year. Plan on doing it at eforest as well

My buddy does festival camping in one of these and they are awesome. They have netted windows for breeze and bug control too. I’ve been thinking about getting once ever since seeing his

This is my setup. I'm also 6' and it's really nice not having to hunch over and or crawl out. I'm in group camping though, so we have a lot of space. You'll want another canopy for hanging out in the shade. Depending on how big your car is that might not be possible. Although they did say they are increasing the size of GA sites (don't remember by how much).

My camping set up is this it’s nice af I will say with wind it can get a little sketch so I would opt for weights and good spikes if you can spring for the ones you need a drill to screw in the ground that would be ideal

This cube tent is the key. GET IT. it sets up in like no time.

Get a box of those 12 or 15 inch bolts made for tents and bring a power drill with an extra battery. Takes two seconds to screw in and out and digs you in hella hard.
Last year at Forest got brutally windy one day and people's shit was getting torn up and rocked all over the place, but my stuff barely even wiggled the whole time.

We switched to this tent last year for all our festivals, and this plus another 10x10 canopy is pretty much the perfect one spot campsite

Not only does this get set up in no time it’s very spacious and you don’t have to duck the whole time that you are inside of it. When it gets windy, just lower your canopy halfway if you can or all the way. And get heavy duty stakes. Like I said, the only time I ever had an issue was during a storm and it whips around a bit… But you lower it halfway or all the way down, you can still sleep inside of it.

I switched to this tent option two years ago and I’ll never go back to a regular tent

This is my setup, although we're in Higher Love.
GA is about 12x35. What vehicle are you taking to Forest? You could easily do the cube tent and another 10x10 canopy for hang out space. Just depending on what vehicle you have the canopy might have to go over your car a little bit.
The cube tent is great. You can also open all the windows and doors and still use it as a hang space if necessary. Remember it also needs a canopy separately. It doesnt come with one.

From past years that I've seen, seems like canopies fail quick if there's any kind of high wind. Im going with a 15x15 RainFly and telescoping poles (3 cars camping). Hopefully the neighbor joins us and we can have a swanky space! MSR GroundHogs for stakes

Hi, I am 6'4. I can stand up straight in my Wawona 6 and it is significantly more well equipped for high winds. Those shelters are entirely dependent on the canopy and forest has very high winds every year. Had to replace 2 super bent and crunched arms on my ez up this year from 2 years ago. Genuinely cant recommend the wawona enough. Its THE tent for forest IMO.

Used mine at Forest for 6 years. The only issue is during heavy rain it can get a little wet inside. Down sizing my tent this year as the crew is smaller and I want the extra water proofing

Anyone know if the 10x20 canopy will work with this?

I feel like it will. Just bought one this year and it has bungie type hooks that you could find somewhere in the middle of the 10x20 to hook to.

We're doing this type as well. The UNP brand is nice. For two side-by-side sites, we're doing two of these, with a 10x20 sideways between them, with part of the 10x20 over the cars. So 20x30 total including cars for two side-by-side sites. As far as wind, we figure we'll be tied to the cars, as well as screw stakes in the ground. Worked well for last year's storms.

I’ve been using this setup for 5 or 6 years of Bonnaroos, EFs, and Secen Stars. I HIGHLY recommend!

I used exactly this tent (absolutely LOVE it) , and still have room for my second 10x10, but I also have a smaller car, so it really depends on where you are and what your driving.

Bought this for electric forest two years ago and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! Great for changing, keeps things dry and secure during storms. The windows are great for a breeze. Honestly highly recommend for all camping activities

I'm 6'1" and solved this problem by just getting changed in between my doors of my car and kinda holding a towel up. I am also the type of dude who would swing sausage if it were appropriate. Not saying my solution is going to solve your problem, but something to consider because it solved mine.

Usually you only have about 10x10 of space left after your car takes up the rest of the space. Sometimes you get a little more wiggle room depending how they park everybody.

My set up is this and another 10x10 canopy and it did work for forest. If they let you ask to back your car in, the the other canopy that’s your hang out area will go over your car slightly but it will work out !
