Best strains for a smoker who hasn’t smoked in several decades?
Later this month my folks will visit me in a recreationally legal state. My mom’s a fan of weed but hasn’t smoked on a regular basis for at least 30 years.
I want to start her off right so what “classic” strains would you recommend? She’s into the whole psychedelic/trippy/groovy aspect of highness but has anxiety issues so it has to be the right balance.

Whatever you do, take it slow. The first time I smoked after a two decade hiatus was rough. I rolled a joint, took two puffs, felt nothing. Took two more, felt nothing. Took two more, felt a little tingle. The next thing I knew I was feeling very uncomfortable and had to sit down. I wasn’t happy and it took about 45 minutes to settle out of it. But then I felt it wearing off and wanted to try smoking a little more. This time, I took two little tokes, and went back to sit down. About five minutes later it fully kicked in and I felt just like I remembered from twenty years before.

As the mother of a licensed Bud-tender, I’d suggest taking her to a dispensary and let them advise you. Everyone’s needs and tolerances vary.
