Discussion [Discussion] Card trader is actually a pain and needs to be fixed, removing old cards isn't suffisent. Why and how :
I could just say
"I WANT to test Unions with the new trap but I CAN'T f*ck Komoney you'll lose another f2p !!!!!!"
but I know whinning won't help so let's be constructive.
1- Why is it like it is, what did they try to do and how is it a problem ?
The roleplay part of the Card Trader is : it's a black market, not a regular shop, he doesn't have the same cards every day because his stocks may depends of what he found in the backstreet.
The idea is cool and the implementation correct but while we have this important sensation of unpredictability the penalty drowback is huge. You open the app, you see a news saying Card Trader update you check in and.. nothing new. I won't event talk about the risk that this situation may be reproduced for days making you unable to test new cards but even for DAY ONE it's a problem both for game play AND role play.
I mean, if the black-market smirking guy comes to you saying "new stuff bro" but actually has nothing new you'll think he's really high, that's the same here. So..
2 - Few ideas to improve the system while keeping the spirit
(+++ is I strongly recommand, ++ is I Think it's a good idea, +- is I don't know but maybe it's a solution)
+++ Day one of a Card Trader update, all the new cards are availables in the first apparition of the day. Period.
+++ Cards you already have 3 copies of won't appear again unless you lose one or more copy.
++ One card per Card Trader apparition should be a choice within all the current available cards (tickets like), but at double price because it's a special command.
++ You can send one card offer per Card Trader apparition to a friend and it won't make you unable to purchase it.
+- You can buy as many copies of a card as you want when you can purchase one.
Thank you for reading, let me know what do you think about it, what are your propositions. Please upvote just if you think the issue is real even if you disagree with my points and/or my propositions so Konami's east representative can see the post and your comments !

u/epwnda Had the great idea to use notifications for Card Trader refresh, I would give it a +++ so I added it here.

Card trader is a pain. Old cards being there is annoying- especially poly, can't we get a 3 set just from characters? Hopefully they do something soon

The Card Trader is the only way you can get a Prismatic or Glossy poly, arguably the only card remotely worth paying the unfair price for.
Edit: I have been corrected on it’s exclusive status. Still, my point remains, it’s the only card even remotely worth considering upgrading.

True but inexact for one thing
the only way you can get a Prismatic or Glossy poly

Jar of Greed is worth consider for upgrade, farming purpose.

u/DaWooster Oct 30 '17
Perhaps, but Good Goblin Housekeeping is overall a better card. (Then there’s the issue that it could only be upgraded to Glossy, but considering how expensive upgrading is, it’s likely all you could afford)

If a card that you have 3 copies of wont appear again, doesn't that mean you cant upgrade its foil anymore?
Maybe just separate the whole foil upgrade thing, such that you can upgrade any card that you got from card trader anytime you want.

Yeah exactly like that, if it's the worst deal ever you should be able to accept it anytime

I mean, it would be nice if Konami fixed it. There are cards that I forget exist because I just never see them. I don't think I've seen a Supervise in a week. It took me about a week to build my Plant deck because Rose Lover wouldn't appear. I just saw my first copy of the new Mecha Phantom Beast yesterday.
But the thing is, Konami purposely designed card trader as a feature to make you keep logging in. That's the entire purpose of it. To get you to log back in when you normally wouldn't to check and see if he has one of the cards you've been waiting for. It's an extra feature to get you excited to log into the app daily and check. I mean, there's maybe 2 cards left in the Card Trader that I'm even considering picking up right now, but I still rush to check his inventory first thing every day when I log in, even knowing there's nothing I absolutely need and nothing new.
So I don't know that Konami has the motivation to change how Card Trader works.

Really smart pov, maybe it's hopeless but I can't help but adress my concern.

I mean, it's worth bringing up. Konami seems to have a pretty good track record of listening to it's player base when it comes to this game.

here's a neat idea for the card trader: add good cards

I like my Thunder Dragons and Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon though :(
Although if my URs when I wake up are Riryoku and that Tiki trap monster again...

My only view on card trader is it should have a goldsink roullette with chances to give you any card in-game and/or keys.
You fix the gold over abundance problem.
You fix the gambling itch some people seem to have.
You help the key deficit some of us have.
You get a new "fun" thing to look forward to.
When stuff is luck based people bitch more about luck and less about you.

Your idea is interresting but totally off subject, moreover maybe it would kill the regular ways to get some cards like roaming events (which I don't like but it's another issue)
2
u/CatsandCrows Oct 29 '17
I know it's off subject. I was implying I don't mind the state of card trader save for the fact that it feels lacking. My example was in reference to that which I feel could feel the void. Just some off topic yet related discussion.

Now I realise that what I've said sounds a bit agressive it wasn't my point, ofc we can discuss off topic issues !

Upgrading cards to glossy and prismatic should be available at all times, this way it's possible to implement what you suggested with no harm at all (once you have 3 copies of a card it doesn't show up anymore).

u/Oldeuboi91 Oct 30 '17
Another problem is they stopped adding good cards to the trader. Just cards for tier 4 decks like Plants which you'd get bored playing after 5-6 games.
I'm pretty sure they would update him entirely at some point, he is a truly terrible mode in the game. However, KC Cup is coming, and then is Christmas and and of the year(some other events are planned I'm sure), he won't be updated any time soon.

u/Need4Speedwagon Oct 29 '17
I'd rather they started by removing old cards from the rotation, then maybe do other stuff or whatever. TBH I'm patient enough to wait for the cards I want to roll around

It will help but the risk is still present, I think it's not fair for the people who won't be able to play the deck they wanted to at a big and important competitive event like KC cup, remember we had cards like Hammer Shark and Vanguard of the Dragon, it could totally happen again during the KC cup.

you get everything eventually and they designed it deliberately to not just quickly give you what you want
the only real issues with card trader are:
1) you have to wait until the card you want is in stock to upgrade to glossy/prismatic
2) the cost of upgrading to glossy/prismatic
3) there is no option to spend a ton of resources to craft an ur/sr from boxes, even for gems

Maybe but in these conditions I think it's a terrible idea that will only generate frustration again and again for no real advantage.
If you take only my +++ and ++ ideas you still have to wait to get a full set, but you don't feel bad for not having a single copy of a new card.

u/y0urneighb0r Oct 30 '17
the easy solustion is just update whole line-up on trader once a week with brand new cards

u/epwnda extreme clickbait Oct 29 '17
I thought about this also, but I think they should update the time he changes inventory, while keeping it on an eight hour cycle. I was thinking perhaps something along the lines of 6am/2pm/10pm or something reasonable that everyone would have an opportunity to log in multiple times and check the stock. I don’t know how difficult it’d be to implement time like that.
Another thought I had was having a “buy order”, or a better notification when the card you want would be in stock. I think if they could properly implement a set time shop refresh this would be ideal as rather than check the shop for cards you don’t need or want.
Everything else you mentioned is what I would want changed also.

u/YudaBoto "The King's dueling must be entertainment for all !"🔥 Oct 29 '17 edited Oct 30 '17
Actually there is no time set for inventory update, it's just +8h the last time you achieved an update :
Let's say you update it at 8AM, then you can't play until 5PM which is +9h so when you open the game you can update but your next update will be 5PM + 8h = 1AM, not 8AM + 2x8h = 0AM.
Notifications is a really good Idea ! Mind if I add it in op post and credit you ?
Thanks you for your feedback !

Personally, I'd like to see a filter to hide card you own 3 of and weight it so you're less likely to see cards if you already own 3 copies. Then you could easily see what cards you're missing without having to scroll through a bunch of 3s. And it would make it more common to find cards you're missing while still keeping some variety and not just showing the ones your missing every time.
Also, it would be nice if you had a fixed amount of each rarity per day. It is kinda annoying when I get no URs one day and the two URs the next.
