Initial Steps For Postgame

Hey all,

I just recently finished up the story for Disgaea 7 and have been trying to figure out where to start when it comes to postgame. I've done a little bit of grinding with the first Martialgahara stage and have a few characters at or above 200 as a result, but the rest are still around the 80 to 110 range from when I finished the story.

My main goal is to just kinda go with and explore it rather than try to follow super efficient guides, but I would like to at least know what to consider and look at to start.

From what I've gathered, I should probably focus on improving subclasses the most at first so that reincarnations are better?

Any help is appreciated! I also don't often post here on Reddit, so I apologize if it takes me some time to respond or if I don't end up responding.

Nah, Martialgahara is basically the grinding stage, so you've got it right. Just remember that you can crank up enemy difficulty as you get stronger in order to grind EXP faster! Though maybe don't over-grind Martial 1 when you still have more Martial stages to clear (that could be better for grinding); the final Martial stage has enemies level 400.

(Also, small tip: because of how the game rewards EXP, and because of a quirk with the EXP curves, defeating level 99 enemies gives EXP comparable to level 323 enemies... and Martialgahara 1 enemies hit exactly level 99 at 1* difficulty.)

As for subclasses, you should have all of the class-unlock quests so feel free to go do those if you haven't yet, and then you can start working on subclass mastery... but while getting subclass mastery does improve your base stats (and thus your stats gained on level-up, hence why you'd want to reincarnate to level 1 afterwards), you probably don't want to grind every subclass all the way to max mastery right now. It's probably best to focus on clearing all Martialgahara stages then reaching level 9999 first (with max EXP in the Cheat Shop) by taking advantage of Poltergas, then swap over to grinding for subclass mastery (with max Class EXP in the Cheat Shop). You'd probably want to get maybe 4 stars in all subclasses for now (and reincarnate/re-level to massively boost your stats) in order to make more postgame progress, at least until you unlock Carnage (which is when you'd grind the Evil-Gacha for stat extracts and then finish the subclass grind).

Thanks for the suggestions, especially the one to do the first stage with 1* in the cheat shop. I was able to get my 'main' units I had been using most of the story up in the 200 to 250 range without issue and will now work on trying to clear the rest of the Martialgahara stages that I can along with trying Postlude things.

I haven't done much with Poltergas or DI, so I'll have to look into that, but I'll also keep in mind the suggestion of aiming for 4 stars for now on class mastery.
