Hi there, moving so threw my dehumidifier in the original box. It says don’t repack… can someone explain this? Is it generally okay? Went through a U-Haul car ride :)

looking for a basement dehumidifier with a pump

my frigidaire lasted 14 months before the internal pump clogged and died. it's a sealed black box, so i can't take it apart to clean it.

try to find a replacement. looked at the midea cube, very popular....reviews say still have to toss the whole thing if the pump goes. standard ge models have reviews saying the humidity sensor fries after a season.

and the gasbye 35-wp. never heard of the brand, but the pump is modular. if it dies, i can swap replacement water tank and save cash. but it takes up a lot of space and is heavy.

my basement has wet dog smell back. please give me some advice. Thanks.

Just tested my AC dehumidifier, does this sound right?

So I was confused about my portable AC dehumidifier as to whether it needed the AC pipe on so tested it, humidity on the cold side shot up to 90%, and the hot side dropped to 30% does this seem correct in dehumidify mode as seems more like AC mode, confused as why mix the airflows.

Remote controlled dehumidifier for large garage

I'm looking to mount a dehumidifier on the wall of my 1,600 sf attached garage. The room, which has 13 ft ceilings and a 40 ft door, also serves as an airplane hangar. Midwest summer days can be very humid and I want to protect the plane, vehicles and tools from moisture. I've been using a conventional Honeywell 50 pint unit that is gravity drained into a hole in the middle of the room, and that seems to do the job. But this obstruction, power cord and drain hose are a nuisance, so I want to mount something high up on the wall (and drained via tube to the outside).

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to operate anything mounted that high -- how to turn on/off, check humidity and status indicators, modify settings etc. Any ideas about units built for this purpose? And/or units that can be monitored and operated remotely?

Midea Cube or Frigidaire for Reliability

Need to buy a new dehumidifier for my basement. My Homelabs one crapped out after two years. Know someone else who bought the same dehumidifier that also had the same problems, so I'll be avoiding Homelabs from this point forward. I've narrowed my choices down to the Midea Cube and this Frigidaire. My number one priority in a dehumidifier is longevity and reliability. I'm tired my cheap dehumidifiers that break after 2 years. I'm torn as to which one to get. I see Midea Cube gets ranked as the best one, but the Frigidaire has better reviews on Amazon. Please help me decide which one to get!

Midea Cube Internals

Hey all, I have a question for anyone familiar with the Midea Cube. Our cube has been set aside all winter, and been sitting next to the window in our bedroom. We live on the 16th floor with our apartment overlooking an open set of subway tracks in Brooklyn, and we get a fair bit of dust, etc. that comes in the windows when we have things open. As I was getting ready to begin using the cube again as the heat and humidity start to increase, I did notice that inside the top of the cube where the fan sits, there is a bit of dust that has settled inside. I'm worried about potential mold growth and wondering if there's any low risk way to clean inside this portion of the machine. Thanks in advance for any help!

Inverter Portable Dehumidifier

Does anyone know is these really exist in the US? I saw one from Hisense, but it appears to be no longer available. I have a need to dehumidify my basement, and the one I have works well, but is a huge energy consumer. If you own one, could you provide any details, and about its performance. Thank you.

Best Dehumidifier for garage/shop

Post image

Looking for the best way to dehumidify a garage/shop space. It's about 1500sq ft and not perfectly insulated and sealed right now, so looking for a reasonably priced option that can really keep on top of that. The large sliding door is what's not perfectly sealed lol. Also wondering if I should oversize and go for a larger sq footage rating. Thanks!

Humidity problem in NC house

I have a 3500 sqft house in North Carolina on about 1 acre. it's heavily wooded and we don't get a lot of direct sun. The backyard is almost all moss and the concrete driveway grows moss in places close to the house. That being said the humidity level in the house in the summer is close to 80%. I am looking to get a whole house dehumidifier and I am wondering if anyone else has one of these and how efficient they are.

I have had my HVAC system checked out and it's fine. I am also getting weather sealing for windows and doors.

Thanks
Mike

How do portable air conditioners with a dehumidifier function compare to dedicated dehumidifiers?

I'm in the UK and I've currently got a maeco arete 20l dehumidifier which has been great for my small 3 bed house drying clothes inside over winter.

However I was considering an all in one AC/dehumidifier to help with the heat on hot summer days. I wondered if they generally made good dehumidifiers? I know they're bigger but I wasn't sure about things like noise, airflow etc.

Bought a dehumidifier mostly to prove my wife wrong

I want to be upfront that I was not a believer. It was my wife who kept insisting our basement had a moisture problem and I kept telling her it was just the smell of an old house and that dehumidifiers were one of those things people bought because they saw an ad and convinced themselves they needed it. I was very confident about this opinion and I expressed it probably more than was necessary.

It was the condensation on the walls that finally made me uncomfortable enough to actually investigate. I told myself I was just doing research to confirm my position which in hindsight is not how research is supposed to work but here we are. It turns out excess humidity causes mold growth, structural damage over time, respiratory issues, and about fifteen other things I had been casually dismissing for two years while feeling very smart about it. I started looking at dehumidifiers properly and ended up on Alibaba comparing specs because the retail prices on anything with a decent tank capacity felt completely disconnected from reality. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to find one that matched our basement size and humidity levels properly but I got there eventually.

It has been running for four months and the difference in that basement is actually noticeable which I was not prepared for. I did eventually tell my wife she was right and I'll just say she handled it with considerably more grace than I deserved.

Water was left in our dehumidifier so long it had mold growing in it. Please tell me how to sanitize it properly so I'm not blowing mold spores all over my house!

Do you use the filters in the Meaco Arete Two dehumidifier? Are they absolutely necessary?

Seemed to get things below 57% in Nashville the first 16hrs after installation. But now it’s like 80%. (Humidity in Nashville right now is 94%)

I would go down there to check but I am away for a Memorial Day weekend….

The crawlspace door itself I may need to figure out how to seal better because it’s letting in some air for sure. But not more than 0.5sqft.

I have the Kesnos 158pt 7500sqft in a 1300ft crawlspace.

Can anyone ease my mind that it’s probably working?

Do all dehumidifiers do this?

I bought a dehumdifer last winter and fell in love with it. It was so good.

It was a Meaco descciant dehumidifier. It was so good.

Something I liked about it was that it would go go into sleep mode once the target humidity was set and then wake up a while later, samlle the air, and either run the machine some more or go back to sleep.

I liked it because it was easily to keep humidity down in my room and it was also very cost effective to run.

However that sleep function is now that working on my machine anyways more after a power outage. The machine is turning on and it's extracting moisture and it is working but it's running continuously now instead of going into sleep mode.

I am waiting on a rely back from the shop I bought it from for the warranty. I am thinking about buying another dehumidifier. Can't live without this now.

Do all dehumdifers work like this? Or will I be better off buying the same appliance again.

Bottom of dehumidifier filling with water?

Hey all, suddenly having a problem with my dehumidifier (UL SD-65E). It still runs and fills the bucket with water, and the float shuts it down when full. However, the past couple days whenever I come downstairs to fill it, it’s in a puddle and the bottom of the unit is full of water. What could be the problem? I’m not very familiar with the workings of dehumidifiers.

Does the NineSky CT2 have a removable filter?

Some sources say yes and some say no, yet I am completely unable to figure out to open the unit. I can’t seem to find any correct/straightforward information online, which is baffling and super frustrating.

Does it or does it not have a removable filter?

Help - meaco not going into sleep mode since power outage.

Anyone who owns a meaco would know they had a sleep mode where the machine reaches the humidity that you set it at, and then it goes into a sleep mode where it's 'off' for approx 30 minutes, then it wakes up and samples the air.  If it's still low it turns into sleep mode again if the humidity is higher it runs again until it drops.  Making it very cost effective on the bill.

Or that's it with my machine anyways.  I have a desiccant dehumidifier by meacco.  Bought it last year and I love it.  However I now have a problem with it.

The day before yesterday I pressed the power button to turn it off.  So the fan was still running.  It takes about 10 minutes to full turn off.   During this time there was a power cut.

Since then, the machine is operating ok.  It's dehumidifying the air and the tank is filling however it's just not going into a sleep mode.

Theres no extra moisture or humidity in my room.   The machine I have does not have a humidity reader.   I have a sperate reader and I realise they are two different things and are likely going to read different.   The dehumdifer is definitely dehumdiifying but it's just not going into a sleep mode.

I ma so so so disappointed.  I googled it.  There is also a troubleshooting guide for the appliance.  I powered it down and waited for it to turn off.  I unplugged the device, I cleaned the filter, I used a hairdryer pointing behind the filter and into the fan inlet.

The air is warm from the machine which is normal. When I press the power button to turn it off, the air turns cold which is also normal because that is the fan working towards turning off.

It does appear as if it's working but it's just not going init sleep mode.

Is there any easy DIY troubleshooting method I could do or will I contact the shop that I bought it from or even the brand. It should still be in warranty. I can't remember if I even registered it with the manufacturer.
