Help / Question ❔ Need help for novice

Post image

I bought the game back in 2025 because they added Springtrap (I’ve been a fan of this franchise since 2014).

And here’s the question: How the hell am I supposed to play when I keep running into guys, who power up the generators in minutes and don’t give me a single chance? It creates a scenario where I’m not some terrifying killer everyone has to run from, but a guy you can piss on right in the face, and he’ll beg you to stop.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve played plenty of PvP games, but this experience is pretty frustrating.

So, here’s the question: how does a beginner learn to play as a Springtrap? And is he even a “strong” character?

From my experience, find that one survivor easy to catch. Run perks that make you undetectable. Kick gens and don't forget nowhere to hide. Good luck out there

Nowhere to Hide: Performing the Damage Generator action on a Generator triggers Nowhere to Hide:

  • The Auras of all Survivors within 24 meters of your location are revealed to you for 3/4/5 seconds.

Each day I play DBD I think of playing my fav killers. And, here I am... it's been a month since I have touched one, or more.

I'd suggest you watch otzdarva all killer guide for a start. It begins with basics. ❤️

Springtrap is a decent character, once you learn him and get good at the game you can win most matches.

DBD however takes a LONG time to learn and really get good at. There are so many maps, perks and combinations thereof. You will get better but it's going to take time. Experience in DBD matters almost as much as your raw skill.

For Springtrap there are a few things the game does not tell. You move slightly slower when the Axe is in your inventory. If you aren't chasing someone do not recall it. Also applies for situations where you can't realistically hit them with it.

As a springtrap main talking here I would recommend running the lootbag add on and the help wanted add on after that use the doors as much as possible he normally spawns near a door so take it and go to the farthest gen possible also pay attention to the doors when you go into one if any turn yellow when you go into one because that means a survivor is using one. Also the axe is your friend use it whenever you can but use it specifically when a survivor is stuck in a animation like pallets or windows

Help Wanted: After performing the Damage Generator action, Help Wanted activates:

  • Causes that Generator to become a Compromised Generator.
Once the Compromised Generator is completed, you benefit from the following effect for 60 seconds:
  • Increases the Recovery speed of successful Basic Attacks by +25%.

You should keep playing to get better it takes time to learn this game to be honest but it could also be your build, idk what your build is but a build that has been working for me on spring trap and another killer is pain residence, turn back the clock, barbecue and chili, and nowhere to hide. A lot of survivors more then you’d think hide if they hear your terror radius and just hop back on the gen once you leave so no where to hide shows where they are all around you if you kick a gen so it comes in clutch a lot. The thing that sucks is ofc you have to pay for two of these perks and the other two you can buy using iridescent shards you get from leveling up. You can also cheak the shrine of secrets to see if any of these perks are there.

Turn Back the clock: After hooking a Survivor, for 60 seconds, press Ability button 1 to make a target generator within 20 meters explode, lose 10% progress and start regressing.

Hey there goober. I was in your shoes learning the game a few months ago and I hope my 500 hours since then can help you.

Springtrap is considered overall mid, but that's for high level play. For your current level, Springtrap is fine.

The thing I'm unsure about is if he's a good beginner killer. For starters, he moves slower when carrying the axe (4.4 m/s instead of the usual 4.6m/s for most killers). This may be the reason why you are struggling to reach people.

Because Springtrap has quite a few tools on his arsenal, you may be skipping a pretty important part of learning killer: the basic M1 gameplay (M1 means mouse 1, left click, the basic attack) of chasing a survivor around.

No matter what killer you are playing, knowing the basics of chasing and hitting a survivor with a basic attack is an essential skill, as a matter of fact you do that more often then going for axe plays with Springtrap.

If you're dead set on learning killer with Springtrap, I would suggest you to not keep the axe on you (just throw it anywhere) and focus on using the doors to move around and learn how to walk up to survivors and hit them.

I suggest you also look up some videos (the more recent the better) on basic killers essential skills, as well as a dedicated Springtrap guide. A lot of this game is learning from people better than you.

Hope this wasn't too long, my DM is open if I can help you in any other way.
