Dog crate in Jogger

Hello everyone,

I've been considering buying a Dacia Jogger ECO-G for a little while.

I was just wondering about these two things :

I will regularly transport my dog in it for his daily walks and activities, as well as for some car camping.

I was wondering if the lack of dedicated 2nd or 3rd row ventilation to spread the AC could be a limiting factor for his comfort (or other eventual passengers), especially during summer heatwaves in my region, where daytime temperatures can reach around 32-37°C and occasionally go above.

Does anyone here regularly transport a dog in the boot/trunk area of a Jogger during hot summer weather? How well does the AC reach the rear/cargo area?

Also, regarding the 3-cylinder ECO-G engine, does it feel underpowered or like it’s working too hard on highways at 130 km/h or more, especially when loaded ?

Thanks in advance.

AC: Not a dog owner. But I have a wife and kid in a rear facing kid seat in the second row. AC power is limited in the front row, but if I direct passenger side and both middle vents to the back it is okay for them. Not freezing, just okay. We're in Germany for reference, so not tropical or anything.

You can buy adapters the funnel air back through a hose, not sure if or by how much they would improve things though.

What did help a little were custom fit meshy window shade thingies.

Thank you for your honest answer about the AC, I think if I buy it I will just cool the car before taking the dog. I do not expect the cabin to reach 16°C but if it can bring the temperature to an acceptable level for me and the dog it's Ok. what about the engine do you have the eco-g ?

I've got the 110hp Petrol one. Is that the one you mean? I kinda like it. Stick shift in 2026 feels anachronistic but it works reasonably well. Reminds me of the late 90s and the cars I learned to drive on. And no worries about the power. You won't win any races but the acceleration is fully okay and 150-160 ish kph even fully loaded with all the crap you have to haul around when travelling with a kid on vacation is totally fine.

Addendum: I like the jogger. It's basic in the best sense and honest. And the big trunk (5 seat version) makes my life soooo much easier. At the same time it is easy to maneuver and does not feel like a tank.

My one big, big gripe is leg room in the second row. That could be better.

Drove one today. It truly doesn’t feel like a tank to drive, but it does take up a lot of space. Since I’m used to driving a small car, there are a few things I’ll need to adapt to if I end up buying one 😅.

It is indeed very basic, but it has all the necessities I’d want in this kind of vehicle, such as parking sensors and a rear-view camera (at least in the trim I tested) a screen for navigation, automatic A/C, and roof rails.

The only major drawback I noticed during the short test drive was cabin noise. It gets really noisy inside once you start driving on highways. However, I’ve read that some people were able to reduce the noise by applying sound-deadening pads in certain areas, such as the wheel arches.

Depending on the version and market, You will get foot vents for 2nd row. And if not, You can buy those.

I own 1.0 100HP LPG version and no, it doesn't feel underpowered because of 2 things: max torque is low in the rev range and almost flat through it and Jogger is a very light car for it's size. On highway going over 150km/h it starts going a bit slow, but in 110-130 range it's eagerly speeding up. I had a Fiat Croma before (200kgs more and 40HP more) and only time it felt faster was when I pushed it to the rev limiter on the third gear. But in everyday driving or from the traffic stop it was much more sluggish.

Thank you for the feedback. That's the engine I'm aiming for as petrol prices have gone crazy in the last months LPG seems like a good argument now (there is a lot of LPG pump arround me). Drove one today but couldn't truly test with LPG as the tank was practically empty. Is there a big difference in practice except for the fact that you gain a few hhorsepower ?

I have a dog (Labrador) and a Jogger. Dog seems quite happy in the cage in the boot.

I have a hybrid, extreme, so the rear windows can be left open (restricted by the catches) so fresh air can enter the cabin on those occasions we park and leave him in the car (under shade or in a multi storey carpark).

This is a big selling point for me, similar to that on a Dobilo we previously had.

Thanks for the answer

I had the same type of rear windows on an older Peugeot of mine, and they did the job of keeping the car somewhat cool while we were away.

Seems like these are only present on the 7-seater, though. Or maybe it is a specific trim ? I'll need to check that.

In the UK, the extreme gets this, possibly the mid tier model too. The base level does not. I don't know if we have the 5 seat version, mine is 7.
