Impromptu setup

Got a second X1 this week so had to test it out.

Didn't quite get my head around the MU128 for effects routing but that is only a temporary measure until I get longer cables for my rack units.

does that mixer have a built in sound card?

It’s need a sound card with multiple outputs or a D-Sub. None really available now on the DJ market because of the Pioneer dominance. Therefore it’s studio cards which generally are much better quality just more functionality.

One of best would be the RME UCX II which includes independent recording to USB stick and it handles unbalanced output signals correctly. Google RME and Traktor.

For D-sub it would need be the Antelope Zen Tour.

would you say RME is worth getting over a motu?

I have no experience with Motu but have owned quite a few RME interfaces. I like the company they build very logical well engineered reliable great sounding interfaces which they support for years they are still supporting 10 year old interfaces. I see the value in RME others don’t in the DJ world. But if you break it down the features you get 4 high quality digital decks plus a standard alone record feature plus everything else for studio use. When you price up a single output plastic CDJ 3000 it begins to look very cheap. You will definitely need the UCX II.

I just got a new ARS 1100 today in silver owned a few previously. I absolutely love these mixers it’s my thing but only use two channels. I have hooked up my RME Digiface as the headphone out is a dedicated line out deck 1 and use an adapter cable on the XLR output deck 2 matched the signals it exactly the same as the Babyface 2 deck configuration on their site. It’s sounds phenomenal.
