Impromptu setup

Post image

Got a second X1 this week so had to test it out.

Didn't quite get my head around the MU128 for effects routing but that is only a temporary measure until I get longer cables for my rack units.

Definitely took some getting used to, but then so did the whole mixer. Once I got the hang of setting the high pass filter much higher than I thought I needed to before bringing tracks in, the sudden volume spike in the fader curve became less of a thing.

It helps that the faders have the perfect amount of resistance so small adjustments are easy.

i love the hpf and lpf per channel. wish every mixer did that. but apart from that, to only have one notch/bell? seems… limited. youre able to make it work?

Honestly I don't use it much other than to tame spikes in the mid range (like if two snares on two different tracks are popping too loud). In a DJing context with quick mixing trying to isolate certain sounds and frequencies to emphasise hasn't really worked for me, but that just might mean more practice.

i feel like the design could be perfected if you had the hpf + lpf + mid1 + mid2. having two mid knobs would still be a little blunt but it would surely beat a single bell filter. you can’t just use filters on the extremes. you need to shape the meat of the sound. give me a tilt control or something. i think its a little silly they market this thing as a precise sound sculptor when all it has is a single bell filter. did they really not think it through? richie hawtin who?? give me 4band eq + hpf + lpf per channel, just my thoughts. still a very cool product im just frustrated with the market
