General Discussion CounterClock: Tinley Park/Lane Bryant Murders

I’m currently on episode 6/8 of the newest CounterClock season, and while I generally look forward to CounterClock, this one has had me hooked. A mass murder, with a witness, and still no arrest? A 911 call was managed to be made, and he still got away? This happened in broad daylight in 2008.

So far I think the mental health facility is an interesting angle — underestimated by police and definitely not considered. The perpetrator may not have been from that facility but easily could have been someone with similar mental health issues, unhoused, from a different facility, etc. To me, this explains why he’d want to rob a store with what one would assume no cash in the morning, go crazy, assault at least one woman, kill 5 of the women and injure the 6th, and seemingly disappear. He either got back his fix of prescribed or other drugs, or ended up dead. Two episodes left. Will update at the end. Let me know what you all think!

I think it’s the guy she talks about in episodes 7 and 8. I am very intrigued by this story. Especially the survivor!

Agreed. Especially after they talked about the disguises he used in the other crimes.

Unless I missed something, why can’t they just test his dna against that from the crime scene?

Them take health facility sounded like she was grasping for straws- if that was plausible where would the have gotten the gun and would they truly have been able to ditch it to never be found so soon? There’s no one that looks like the sketch that can be identified?

I do think the last guy could has some traction tho.

I thought it was interesting she spent so much time talking about the mental health facility. I just wonder about the access to cars/ guns at that level of facility too. I do wonder what the police have done that we don’t know since she doesn’t have access to the files. I do think it’s crazy that this crime hasn’t been solved from such a public place. I mean it was that long ago in terms of technology but tech has evolved a ton since then too?

I binged this season today on a road trip. She’s done a lot of good investigative work. Seems like there’s something there. I hope they find the murderer but I bet he’s dead.

I enjoyed the podcast, Delia is a great investigative reporter. I realize that there is so much we don’t know that the police have done or are doing…but I was left feeling like the police no longer really care. I hope that’s not the case.

I LOVE COUNTERCLOCK!!! This one had my JAW on the FLOOR! I ate it up. I also think it's the guy she talks about in eps 7 and 8. Idk though, I thought this was a crazy story!

He’s most likely dead. The getaway was clean due to how close the expressway was and horrible camera quality but definitely 95% sure they’re long in the afterlife.

I can’t believe it’s not solved. Truly, like you said: witness, DNA, distinct composite sketch… so so wild. Hoping these victims get some peace

Glad to hear it starts to pick back up. I enjoyed the first few episodes but I just finished episode 5 and she’s starting to lose me. The church and foreclosure theory’s didn’t seem plausible to me at all.

Hopefully if it’s not the guy from episode 7 could they be utilizing familial DNA like they have in other cases!

Still on episode 7, but I wonder if Familia DNA is in play here. Assuming the suspect is dead.

I live in the Chicago burbs and this case has stuck with me for such a long time, and I think a lot of us in Chicagoland feel this way. It got so much news coverage. It is an injustice it is not solved yet. The podcast is very good, and I appreciate her talking to loved ones of the victims. I hope familia DNA eventually solves the crime, the families deserve an answer.
