I really don’t like the way Vogt will load the line up with all lefties against right handed pitchers or vice versa. I don’t care what the stats say, I think its better to mix it up a little more and since we have so few true right handed hitters they need to get more consistent bats (Hoskins, Fry). Some of the hitters and some of the batters actually have reverse splits if he ever looks at it.

Platooning also stunts the growth of the younger players as they never get experience against same-side pitching.

I despise platooning as a rule. It should only be done with established vets whom you’re not trying to develop and are stopgaps in your lineup.

it’s strategic and the reality of baseball ⚾️ 👍whether it’s good for developing players or not

I'm officially getting worried about Jose

I’m convinced he’s struggling because of that injury he got back in spring training and just never gave himself time to recover fully.

No he also doesn’t trust the hitter behind him Manzardo and CDL aren’t good enough to protect him so he’s pressing. You need someone like Edwin or even Naylor as a one two punch

CDL is hitting better than Jose, so that's a weird excuse.

They just moved Jose to the two hole. Let’s see how CDL protects Jose in 59 ABs batting second batting .203 .262 OBP .271 SLG and OPS .533. They need someone behind jose and that requires you to spend money or trade top prospects for a bat you can control for a few years.

Jose was struggling before that move to 2nd.

Because Manzardo was protecting him he doesn’t trust him. Dude you can disagree all you want but it’s not that hard to realize Jose needs someone to hit behind him to be successful and take the pressure off of him. Manzardo and CDL aren’t good enough

No one seems to be able to protect Jose if he has someone behind him he could relax more. I don’t trust both of them CDL and Manzardo to protect Jose on a consistent basis as of today.

When’s the last time we hit a home run?

Monday. Hoskins solo shot.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. It wasn't yesterday or Friday. And Thursday we were off, so Wednesday?

Can we do the thing where the ball goes over the wall today? Thanks.

Suddenly this team looks a lot like last year's team. Good pitching - flailing at the plate. Even worse since Jose looks lost.

Coming apart about the same time they did last year too. (Last year they were 32-26 on June 1st).

Hopefully it's just a short slump.

They have still won 6 of 10, 10 of 14, and are 18-10 in May. Where’s the slump?

Last 10 games they are averaging just over 2 runs per game. No power, and not hitting with RISP. Same problems they had last year.

Like I said, hopefully it's just a short slump,

It’s about wins and losses. This is how the Guardians always operate and they’re very successful at it. You’d think they have the worst record in baseball based on the comments in this sub instead of pretty firmly the #2 seed in the AL right now. Also, “same problem as last year” was an AL Central title. Sign me up for that all day long.

Successful?

We haven’t won jack since 1948. That’s not successful to me. We’ve won in the regular season, yes, but we’re still a team that hasn’t won a darn thing in 78 years and this current iteration of Cleveland isn’t exactly giving off heroic vibes.

Then you should probably follow another team because this is how the Guardians are going to operate. Personally, I’ll take a team that gets to playoffs nearly every season and has a chance to make a run.

You can support a team while also being critical of how they operate.

And the way they operate is broken as evidenced by the lack of success they’ve had in the one singular goal of baseball.

However, after 30 years of absolute craptastic position player development, they may have accidentally stumbled upon actual players in Bazzana, DeLauter, Velazquez, and Genao. Time will tell.

I’ll tell you, I live in Denver now so I see firsthand a team that truly has no hope of finishing above last place, let alone play .500 ball, make the playoffs, or god forbid win a World Series.

I obviously want that World Series too and I am plenty critical, but I’m also reminded we have it so much better than many other fan bases.

I like the good young core hitters too, but I’d also trade half our prospects in a second for someone like Yordan Alvarez. That’s the type of move that helps take the next step.
