Well, it can’t get much worse than today. Win the series tomorrow and get Bibee his first W!

Today, on Hedges jersey day, the Guardians suffered their first lost when Hedges played the entire game.

Positives from today’s Cleveland baseball:
Welcome to Cleveland, Stuart Fairchild🎟️!
I read his name and I just hear the magician from Frosty the Snowman saying “messy” over and over. Parker Messick🍓 ends his day with a final line of 5IP, 5H, 1R, 2BB, and 4K on 93 pitches (59 strikes). A tad messy, but so many stranded and damage limited, can’t complain!
We managed 4 runs for the first time in like a week and a half and you’re gonna tell me to NOT expect at least 5 runs tonight??? The bats get 1 run off of 6 hits and 4 walks. Bazzana🍌(x2), José🐐 and Petey🐤 all had doubles, and Petey added a single as well (THAT’S MY GOAT). That was not 5 runs.
Unleash those (mostly) tall people out of the armbarn! Festa🎉(0.2IP, 1R), Heuer🚁(1.1IP), Armstrong💪(1IP, 1R), and Dion🦺(1IP, 6R) combine to go 4IP, 6H, 8R, 3BB, and 6K. Yay for Dion appearance. Never mind I’m sad. So very sad :(
(Yesterday) akron why do you hurt me… anyways, to Columbus! 5 different players had multi hit efforts, with Watson🔋 taking the crown via a 2 run bomb and 2 singles. Ingle📐, Valera🩼, and Huff😤 all had triples (yes you read that right), and Brito🌯 and Huff each had a double as well. Quick LC mention for the ST crazy up and down arm slot man Cam Schuelke going 2.2IP scoreless, striking out two and closing out the game. He now has a 0.42 ERA across 21.1 innings.

Also this team is not going to last long it’s current state. We have zero offense from our catchers, Jose and Kwan haven’t been good, Schneeman is being used too much, Martinez’s chase issues are showing up again, Manzardo has been underperforming as well (although it’s possible last year could’ve been an outlier, who knows)
10
u/pm_me_your_boobs_586 1d ago
Manzardo has a .284/.368/.522/.891 slash line for the month of May. How is that underperforming?

u/Any_Salamander9958 1d ago
But yeah, let’s pinch hit him out of a 3-1 game against a RHP. Still haven’t gotten over that one.

Didn’t realize the season started in May

GM might have to get creative. If this batting order is designed to support each moving part than it isn't working.
Nothing consistent anyway. Always comes back to offense even when the defense stank too.

Sorry yall this is on me, they’re 0-3 now when I’ve been to games; two blowouts and the 11 inning loss to the twins. Bad news is I have tickets for two more games in the next month.

You know you can sell those...give them away even. :)

Haha I already have friends confirmed to go, and I have the $15 college student bleacher tickets that can’t be resold anyways. They’ll have to play around the bad aura I bring to the park.

I guess Big Lou and Rocko are going to have to make a little visit to you then. Sorry, lol

Team has scored 1 run in the last 17 innings against a red Sox pitching staff that is not THAT good. Can talk about Dion blowing up in the 9th but he's not in the game if you don't get shut out for 8 innings and leave 8 runners on base (5 in scoring position).

Do they know we're allowed to score after the first inning against the Red Sox?

u/canttakethshyfrom_me 1d ago
So, uh, that was horrible by low-A standards.
Please Baseball Gods, don't take away our Guardian Angel!
The entire defense/lineup look mentally checked out most of the time. Has the Kwan family health emergency been weighing on all of them? Or is something badly broken in the clubhouse? Because 4 errors and 1 run against a struggling Boston team is NOT okay.
This team continues to live or die by the bullpen, and it's looking spotty AF.
Jose might need a vacation, the goat's head is not where it needs to be at all. I've gone from "He'll figure it out" to "I'm genuinely worried."
Schneemann needs to not be an everyday player, and especially stop trying to hit every pitch 400 feet. He's a utility fielder who had a very good month.
And plate discipline throughout the lineup has collapsed lately.

Just allot of bad. But Bazzana and Petey good, Rocchio took a walk despite another sleepwalking SS night.

Win tomorrow and this game is forgotten about. Tanner pitched well last time so let’s see what happens tomorrow.
Just a bad and ugly game all over the place.
9
u/pm_me_your_boobs_586 1d ago
Tanner gave up 7 ER last time off like 5 homers
4
u/Philthou 1d ago
Oh you’re right I forgot about that game. I was thinking the Tiger game 😅😅.
3
u/TheRealGyurky Mustard 3 1d ago
Also the Tigers are the likely the worst team in baseball so that doesn’t say much

u/No_Contribution_7635 1d ago
Always coming back on the bats. Angel slump might have been the last straw. When he hits there's connective tissue with the rest of the lineup.

u/CornerShark 1d ago
We’re lucky that the entire AL is terrible because this wouldn’t be a .500 team in the NL.
Bazzana, DeLauter, Rocchio, and Jose are the only above-average bats we have. Probably need another 2-3 years and Genao/Velazquez before the offense is anything but terrible.

This team wants to take it to the next level JRam and Kwan have to get it going and soon. Can’t relie on rookies to carry a team even as good as CDL and Bazzana are. Right now this team isn’t scoring anymore runs then last season.

Hopefully Angel Martinez's injury, a left foot inflammation is nothing serious.

Good day for guys like Dion and festa to implode. The backend of the pen needed some rest

I thought that’s what rest days are for. You know, the rest day we had two days ago?

It's just such a weird mess up. This has happened at least twice. Dion doesn't even get his own name in their box scores
1
u/TuataraTim ⚾small ball baseball terrorists⚾ 1d ago
Putting on Dion to pitch the 9th is so weird. It's his 2nd game EVER in the bigs and he has to get a save against the Red Sox. Dude wasn't mentally ready for that.

What’s going on with Kwan this season?
2
u/Exciting-Cobbler-741 1d ago
He's currently on the family bereavement list. So that explains the last two or three days. Can't speak for the rest of the season. Or the second half of last season.

Man, when they have a bad game, it’s a team effort awful POS…at least they do it right!

Believe it or not this game was tied late in the 6th inning. The bullpen was due for an implosion, but that did not give a lot of hope.
