what even is this team today? Our first two ABs scored our only run. 12 hitters in the lineup, no feeling of continuity. Deep in the bullpen. Doesn't feel like a Messick start at all. I don't recognize 1/3 of our players today.

What's so impressive about Messick is that even on days when he just doesn't have it, his overall numbers will look pretty good and he keeps the team in the game. The worst start of his career was probably when he gave up 4 runs in 5 innings vs the A's and even that wasn't horrible.

If nobody ever sits in the front row behind home plate, the Guardians should give those seats away. The backstop view at Progressive is already ugly as sin, and having a bunch of empty seats there makes it worse. This has to be the tackiest ballpark from a TV viewer’s POV. They really need to fix it.

Really really hope Angel is OK. Even if he's not on a heater at the plate, his defense is still super valuable.

I think if you want to nitpick about bullpen management, Vogt should have flipped Heuer and Festa since Festa is better coming in mid-inning. But can't really blame the bullpen when the offense is reversing to June 2025.

6-3 in our last 9 despite putrid offense. Today more of the same.
But the bullpen blowup is probably what'll be talked about more.

The one dirty secret about Jose is that he’s a career -1.71 clutch hitter, which is ranked just above “awful.” You can’t rely on him in big situations, unfortunately.

I thought Vogt made a good decision last night by pulling Cecconi before he had a chance to allow more runs. In the past, Vogt would leave a guy in there in order to try and make it through five innings, no matter what and then the guy would finish imploding before Vogt took the guy out. Last night, he waited a little too long, but corrected his mistake before it was too late.
