(baseball.reference ) Gavin Williams has 5 starts this season with 7+ IP and 1 or fewer ER, the most among AL pitchers.

My biggest knock of him has been his consistency and walks. He has really cut down on BBs & been more consistent.
He’s almost doubled his K/BB from last year.
Dare I say… do we have another ace (finally) & future Cy Young winner?

He's definitely my favorite pitcher right now. Hoping the front office gives us a nice surprise and extends him.

Scott Boras is his agent. Unlikely, especially with the way the Guards like to lock up young talent on team friendly deals

I guess the hope there is that if a floor is instituted, they might have to. Definitely curious to see what happens this offseason

Yeah, but by the time the floor is put in place(if it does) they'll turn ownership over to blitzer lol. So they'll never have to pay

Fair enough, but all I care about is that our owner pays players, so idrc who it is as long as it happens 😂

The floor is expected to be in as early as next year.
So what are you talking about

u/RustledHard 1d ago
Yeah, it's very unlikely so I'm not holding my breath, but a man can dream

I think it’s more likely than a cap, so I’m holding out hope for it

You need both. Small market owners won’t approve a floor without a cap because they’d keep being outbid anyways.

You only need 3/4 of the owners, so the support of the small market teams isn’t totally necessary. However, my statement was more that I think a hard floor is possible, but a hard cap is not. We likely get a softer cap similar to the NBA where there are penalties for going over

3/4 of teams spend considerably less than the top four.

So you’re just going to ignore the part where I explained what I was talking about with a random statement I never denied?

I was really hoping they’d lock him up a year or two ago before he fully busted out this year but i feel like the odds are low now 💔

Between him and Messick, we have a top 2 in the rotation for a few years to come. If Bibee can get ANY consistency, you wouldn’t want to face us in the playoffs.

Gavin has shortened his stride to the plate and is more accurate- fewer walks & watch the ball movement. Willis and our coaches know how to enhance positive pitching skills with the young guys!

For me, what is wrong with Bibbee? Is he tipping his pitches, sore arm, lost velocity? What? Williams seems more confident and trusts his stuff. Plus the team seems to score more runs with Williams on the bump.

Don’t know why he’s not talked about more. Has the most wins and 2nd in strikeouts.
