Recommendations for a beginner exploring Esoteric Christianity

Hi there, I am a newcomer interested in the crossover between traditional faith and occult practices. I am currently looking for some solid reading material to help me build a foundation in this area. Since this is such a specific niche, I wanted to ask this community which books you consider essential for a beginner. I am interested in anything from historical texts to modern interpretations that stay true to the spirit of Christian occultism. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and help!

William Lilly's Christian Astrology ..a bit tough for beginners but an invaluable explaination of why astrology and associated arts are Christian

Evelyn Underhill's Practical Mysticism Introduces how to feed the soul by seeing God in everything

Dion Fortune's Psychic Self-Defence ...dated but explains Christianity in terms of protection and warns about frauds

I highly recommend a series of Christian occultism courses available at bota.org. They are highly effective.

"Builders of the Adytum is a religious organization dedicated to spiritual attunement through study, practice and worship in the Tradition of the Western Mysteries. Spiritual aspirants participate through the B.O.T.A. lesson instructions. Wherever they may be geographically, they actively participate in mystical-esoteric meditations that unify them into a powerful metaphysical body of enlightened worship. There is no charge for any instructions or other benefits B.O.T.A. offers its dues paying members. The Order’s material needs are met by membership dues and donations.

Adytum is the Greek word for ‘Inner Shrine’ or Holy of Holies. Like Jesus, who many believe was trained in Qabalah, members of the Order aspire to build the Inner Temple, to construct the Holy of Holies within."

I’m currently working my way through The Book of Sacramental Magic: A Guide to Christian Ritual Ceremony by Stephen Mandes Thomas. It’s very beginner friendly and is a step by step process on building a spiritual practice within the Christian esoteric framework

Check out a Theosophical Society near you- they will have a bunch of books and people who will be able to share what they know and point you in the right direction 😊
