Will one of the Iranian nominees win an Oscar this Sunday?
The 98th Oscars are coming up on Sunday, and with Sinners receiving the most nominations in the history of the awards, alongside the two Golden Globe winners Hamnet and One Battle After Another, it remains to be seen who will take home the Best Picture award.
The ceremony is also set to carry a political undertone, with two Iranian films nominated — “Cutting Through Rocks” for Best Documentary Feature and “It Was Just an Accident” for Best International Feature Film — amid rising violence in the Middle East.
The Iranian filmmakers have spoken out about the difficulties they faced while making their films. Will they be able to rise to the top and win in what could be seen as a highly political decision?
