Discussion The most PEAK Catwoman adaptation in anything ever.

Post image

The Telltale Series Selina Kyle is literally the ONLY adaptation that ran the full gambit of her character arc in the comics. Beginning as an enemy to Batman, then to his reluctant ally, and finally his lover. Practically every other adaptation only adapts one of these three parts of her arc and completely skips over the others, fundamentally changes who Selina Kyle is, or she's just a walking sexpot with no depth.

Seriously, this adaptation just got EVERYTHING right and should be talked about more.

Voiced by Laura Bailey too? Peak

She did such a good job, too. Laura always kills it.

She should do the live action version

They get everything right except for 1 minor but massive change - she isn't from Gotham. There was no reason for this change and it kinda completely alters her character since she's no longer a direct reflection of Batman.

You know what? That's totally fair and I agree that change was unnecessary. Maybe they just wanted to interject a new idea or something but Gotham should be her home.

It feels like they didn't even realise she was meant to be a mirror to Batman. Telltale Catwoman is still a way better adaptation of the character, but the one thing Burton Catwoman really nails is being a mirror to that version of Batman

Omg YES!! I LOVED her here. Her voice was perfect (no seriously I think this is my favourite voice for Selina), she felt mature and confident, and the flirting was just the right amount without turning her into a caricature. She still felt sharp, guarded, and like her own person instead just there to be hot. I wish we got to have a 3rd Telltale game just to have more of her in it 🥲

No that goes to Arkham.

I personally don't like Arkham Catwoman at all. She's much more of an object rather than an actual character, merely there to tantalize the male gamers with her dialogue and animations. Not to mention she's just a straight up cruel person to EVERYONE lol.

She's slightly better in Arkham Knight since she and Batman have a lot more dialogue and spend more time together, but Arkham City Catwoman is just not a respectful adaptation at all.

I never played this game how is she like? Is she like Arkham catwomwn?

4

u/Golden_Goose26 6h ago

No she's much more like the comics than the Arkham games, where she was practically just eye candy and nothing more. Like I said, her entire arc gets adapted and she and Batman have a great dynamic. Laura Bailey also voices her and does great in the role.

Still peak game and character tho

My personal favorite is Zoe Kravitz’s portrayal of Catwoman in The Batman. Selina follows a similar character arc, starting off as an enemy (the first thing they did with each other was fight), going to reluctant ally (allowing him to follow her immediately after to her and Annika’s place), and eventually to lover.

I hated her ass 😭 character wise though I see what you mean since I definitely agree they often just adapt her as kind of one dimensional

3

u/Golden_Goose26 6h ago

Are you saying you hated her or you literally hated her ASS??😅😅

3

u/DonkeySad6780 6h ago

Her. Never her ass of course 👍 She was better in the second game but her tryna make me cuck my boy Harvey I did not approve of. All part of the character tho like you said, so from a character perspective I understand it.

Ah I see hehe. Though you gotta consider how Selina Kyle views powerful/famous/rich guys like them. Simply because she grew up with nothing, it distilled an undeserved disdain for people who had the things she didn't just because they were born with them. This was why she had no qualms about using Harvey and ditching him, as she just assumed he was like all the rest.

And in a way, she was kind of right considering how Harvey turned out to be in the end.

Who would hate it??!!

I really liked the Telltale games. Even when characters weren't perfect adaptations, they were interesting ones. I would love a 3rd game.

I just wished they hadn’t changed her character design from season 1

I like this adaptation of her , but I do wish we saw her backstory and that she is from Gotham plus her Robin Hood persona , which frankly I am upset most adaptations skip as I see it a core part of her character and her arc.
But I liked how humanized she was.
