Should I stay Catholic?
Hi all, I came on here to talk about something that has been weighing heavy on me for a couple weeks. I’m an 18F, and I was born and raised Catholic, with my whole family being Catholic as well. I’ve had my baptism, communion, and I’m supposed to do my confirmation soon, but have been questioning it. Never in my life have I questioned being catholic nor wanting to stay Catholic, because it always just came to me that that’s who I am. I know I don’t go to church as much as I should, and I need to read more on the Bible, but recently I’ve been falling under the question of “should I be catholic if all of these people who consider themselves conservative Catholics or Christian’s have such hatred to things I believe in?” I know many topics are not believed in the Bible as we do in modern day, such as abortion or gay marriage. But I don’t agree with having to shut those things down just because they don’t apply for me. For example, I think people should love who they want, be who they want, and if they need to take emergency medical action, they should be able to. I guess what I’m trying to say, is if I believe in most if not all democratic beliefs, does that make me wrong in the Catholic realm? I’ve wanted to join my colleges Catholic club, but it has become very obvious of their political beliefs, I know what I’m saying is a jumble of words, but I’m just having a difficult time explaining or even understanding it myself. Thanks!

We need more people like you and I agree with u/billiejustice. I come from a highly conservative family where I am the only Democrat. Yet I am the only one that goes to church, that volunteers at church, and try to teach my children how to live for Jesus (one that is a lesbian that I love and support fully). It is not our place to judge others. God teaches us to accept everyone and live humbly. If you join the Catholic club on campus, show them that it is not our place to judge or condemn others when they bring up such topics. The Catholic Church needs more people like you.
