Cliff Parisi

I came upon Cliff Parisi's wikipedia page and discovered that he was actually born in Poplar in 1960. There's not much of a bio but I did find an online source that said he dropped out of school and had some run-ins with the law as a young man. After doing time, he changed his name and pursued a stage career.

Love the Fred Buckle character and now I'm wondering if Cliff Parisi based his portrayal on people he knew IRL from back in the day.

This should have been an episode plot!

She is quite flippant but I love her. This story made me think of some of the CTM storyline’s :)

Does the series get better or what... Spoiler

Im currently on season 7 episode 7 and I'm just so over all of the good characters leaving the show. I really only care about Phillis anymore.

I miss Jenny, Chummy, Trixie, Sister Evangelina, Cynthia, etc. The rest of the cast currently is boring and feels very stagnant

Missing people in the photos S15.8

In the end when they show all those photos, maybe I missed it but there were several people that were missing - the one I really noticed missing was Chummy. Maybe she was there and I didn't see it, but you would have expected her to be much more noticeable (at least here in the US I think she was a fan favorite). You barely saw Jenny. There were others missing as well. I didn't expect any of the newer characters, but the ones from the past - it was sad not seeing them (or at least not obviously).

Maternity Home Doors

Following on from my post about floorplans 😂, I am curious about the entrance/s to the maternity home and surgery. I have seen the characters use a metal spiral staircase, a metal straight staircase and a street level door, which I think was supposed to be Kenilworth Row. I watched an episode where Tim struggled to get a wheelchair user up the metal staircase and I thought surely they would have been better using the street level access and cutting through (if the corridors were wide enough - maybe they weren't). Still, it gets me every episode how inaccessible it is, to say it's a GP's surgery. Also, I thought the metal staircase led to the back door, but in more recent series' it is mentioned that it is the front entrance. Can anyone shed any light? Thoughts?

Can someone tell me why sometimes the Nuns wear black habits and other times they wear the short white ones.

Bernie Mullocks

*SPOILERS below for 15.8."

I'm rewatching the series finale, and I just love Bernie Mullocks in it at the beginning of SMJ's funeral. He's so stoic and proper. I know he's supposed to be, but there's just something so powerful about it, especially with everything he went through and how much he grew. 😌💜 (And okay, I might find the top hat to be kinda hot, ngl.)

It hit harder the second time

I just finished rewatching s7, and the last 2 episodes really hit me in the feels like when Barbara first got sick and Tom and Phyllis were still hopeful. When you know what was gonna happen, it feels worse, and i cired a lot more when they showed the pictures of her during MJs birthday celebrations 😭

How would you guys feel if the show didn't return for a full series after the miniseries and the movie?

personally I feel like the finale of this most recent season felt more like a series finale than a season finale and wrapped up a lot of characters' storylines. I can see a future where they'd come back after the movie and miniseries and continue with the characters that're still in the show. However, I feel like the miniseries and movie could easily tie up loose ends and therefore lead to the show not returning. But how do you guys feel? Do you guys think they should come back after the miniseries and movie?

The end of an era

I started rewatch all the episodes of Call the midwife in January and I just finished series 15. It was quite the adventure. That show has succeeded to maintain relevancy for all this years and it quite rare. I am very glad I have been on that journey. I am gonna miss them in my week routine 🥲

Why did they move from the Iris Knight community centre to the Saint Oswald hall?

Saint Oswald hall is noticeably smaller and without a separate cafeteria.

Trixies Hair Season 5

Does anyone else think that Trixies hair in seas9n 5 is absolute perfection?! The color on Helen and the cut/styles. So we'll done. Her make up is great too in the season as well.

I miss her Spoiler

I just finished season 3 and I’m so sad Jenny has left. She’s the main character so seeing her leave feels like the show has ended (even though I have 12 seasons left lol)
Please no spoilers but, is the show still good after season 3?

What now?

Almost done with CTMW on Netflix and it has become my newest comfort show. What else can I watch that will scratch my cozy historical itch?

My mum just had the most interesting take on this show 😅

"This show is good in that it has lots of different stories, but it always seems to be about people having babies!"

I am currently on Series 7, but she has hovered or watched it in passing when she happened to be in the room. This comment stopped me in my tracks. It's called Call The MIDWIFE. Her surprise at every episode being about childbirth was highly amusing.

Sick of the constant change in nurses Spoiler

I’m on season 9 where nurse dyer leaves. I’m so sick and tired of all the midwives and other characters just leaving or being killed off! Chummy, Cynthia, patty, Barbara, Tom, Peter and so many other characters just randomly leaving.

What do you hope we see in the prequel - Sisters in Arms?

We know we are to get a three part prequel around Christmas time this year - based on the younger versions of Sisters Julienne, Monica Joan and Evangelina.

But what else do you hope to see?

I personally would like to see a bit of background on Dr Turners breakdown. Why could he not tell Shelagh when they were going through the adoption process in Series 3?

Trixie's wedding march music

I wish I knew what the music is called that Trixie walls down the aisle to. I know it's likely original and may not have a name or be available outside the show. It's such a lovely bit of orchestral and piano and choral music, it actually reminds me of the Home Alone bit when Kevin arrives at the church on Christmas Eve. 😊 And it truly makes the scene. 💜

Fred appreciation post

We had one for Dr Turner but now it's Fred's turn! I love how he takes care of Reggie. I love how he looks after Sister Monica Joan. And, I love how he helps Tom after Barbara...😭

Why do you love Fred?

Little Barbara rant Spoiler

I just finished the bit where Barbara dies and I’m actually really heartbroken 😭. Why did they bring them back just to kill her off? They could have done sooo many things to end their storyline. Her and Tom could’ve moved overseas to start a mission, they could’ve moved to the countryside like they wanted to, etc.

I think I’m going to stop watching because the writing just feels sloppy now. I haven’t been liking what they are doing to Trixie‘s storyline. And I just found out some spoilers about how they write Lucille off that peeved me right off.

Barbara Spoiler

I just finished the episode. I'm absolutely gutted. The whole episode wrecked me. The boy in prison, Nurse Anderson finding a church. I'm not religious now but I grew up going to church and Tom and Phyllis reciting that verse.... and the singing. Ugh. I'm bawling.
