It looks like it was made in Word or something similar, which gives it more of a pamphlet vibe than a serious book.

It would take a bit of time to detail everything, but I would start with reworking the font choice and the layout of the text.

Also, why a waterfall? Seems completely divorced from the subject matter haha.

Believe it or not it is for a pamphlet around 38-60 pages.

Yeah. My design skills are hopelessly bad. Atrocious. Looks like I'll have to go with the default cover designs.

Is this a slight improvement? Just decided to go with an amazon template and free stock image.

I can't increase the size of the font for the title, though:
