Discussion Has anyone else stopped having fun and started playing because of FOMO?

I've been playing Bleach since January and I genuinely enjoyed it for a long time. But over the last month or two, I've started feeling like I'm logging in out of obligation rather than because I actually want to play.

I'm constantly worried about missing events, characters, rewards, and so on. Every new event feels less like exciting content and more like another task I have to get through. It's especially noticeable when there's no auto mode available.

I'm a low spender and I've spent around 200 EUR on the game since I started. Sometimes I feel like if I were completely F2P, I probably would have quit already. But because I've invested money into the game, it feels harder to walk away.

Are there other people here who feel the same way and keep playing even though they're not enjoying it as much anymore? Is this just a "me" problem, has the game become less engaging, or is this simply the nature of gacha games once you've been playing for a while?

I don't mean this as an attack on the game at all, I still think it's a great game. I'm just curious whether anyone else has gone through the same thing. And if you have, do you have any tips for looking at the game from a fresh perspective and making it fun again?

Honestly? I'm getting lazier and lazier.... I only play for daily activities... Frenzy feast and guild challenges for the limited time weekly jades and if I feel productive enough I'll play the events and earn jades so am I the only one?

You could say that the honeymoon period has ended for you. Six months into the game, we now know mostly what happens every patch, the kind of events we get, etc. I'd say this is normal, so anybody can and should take a break (or even quit) if they feel like they need to. Me being a week 1 player, I've decided to complete all events and get all the cosmetics and shit lol so in a way there is an obligation aspect to it. Just don't let yourself get burnt out.

Nah I don’t really have fun with the gameplay. The main appeal is getting new characters and having fun trying them out. Ranked also adds an extra bit of competition. Logging in is sort of a habit. I don’t really feel pressured to do it.

and i confess, i actually see some pleasure in this... i mean, theres is a moment in my day only for bsr... its a peace moment where i dont worry about any other thing

I can't speak for every game but this is essentially what a gotcha boils down to. The devs. are not going to be able to consistently hype you up for their events because at the end of the day they will mostly be the same. They are actually trying to be creative but the real appeal will always come from pulling characters. Once the game feels like a chore you have to fight your fomo and step away. You will miss things but you will find something else to catch your attention and then maybe after awhile you will decide to play again.

There are games where you want to play regardless of rewards this is not one of them.

I like the characters and thats the reason i log in everyday, but i dont think anyone is fooling themselves into thinking that the gameplay systems they give us to use those characters are fun.

u/freezingdrill 12h ago

I play everyday just to farm for pulls but it really doesn't feel like i'm actually playing the game cause always use auto lol, i just doomscroll while auto battling. I guess im only playing cause i wanna gamba

I just log on for the dailies now, guilds dead, world chat is dead. Unless youre maxxed out no one will complete the co-op challenges.

I feel there would be more fanfare if the devs put some more effort in. You're telling me 6/7 months in we have a single outfit, cutscenes that aren't finished (the ones you click on and just get 20 jades). They didnt even have the main campaign finished apart from the latest hueco mundo arc until recently.

I'll still play, but would doubt this game gets more than 5-10 minutes a day moving forward, not when games like NTE are out and have so much more to do.

To be fair, I am pretty sure progress from Devs are at odds with the publisher on how to proceed with licensed material/game direction. The game has been in development for years at this point and I believe most of the contents/assets were made or at least set up.

I feel like balance patches and adjustments are areas where Devs may have more freedom and in those moments, they’ve been quick to respond and happy to be generous about changes.

Im sorta bored of the gameplay and becoming lazier, if White isnt super fun to play I might drop the game.

2

u/LifeLarper 9h ago

White is probably a dry season

u/TheMilkMan875 8h ago

If he is boring + no content I enjoy

Adios

I stopped playing because content is very much the same and has become more tedious than fun. For example the Summit Clash is basically Frenzy Feast but those who spent money more on upgrading characters get to progress easier. I feel like they are moving towards appeasing the paying player based on the events they are introducing. Just look at the limited time Frenzy Feast and Mystic Frontline. These game modes require heavily invested characters to complete.

Then there's the stamp system that straight up predatory. Every step of the way is basically gacha, relying on luck to get the best stats. Instead of overhauling it, they introduced double drop (limited to 3 per day, what a joke), choose you main stat events (still getting random sub stats by the way) and Summit Clash, thinking they're the best solutions to a such shitty feature.

The stamina system and very few material drop for character upgrade is another another unnecessary gatekeeping. I ended up not having anything else to do after completed the daily/weekly tasks and used up all stamina. Can't upgrade other characters to try out because shit is so limited might as well save whatever little resources left for the next new character.

Honestly, I get why the IP holder is reluctant to allow the dev full reign. While everyone on this sub criticize Shuesha for being difficult, I understand that they are being picku as they have the reputation of a beloved IP to protect. I think the game is hiding behind generous rewards to keep players entertained while ignore the major red flags.

Happily, I'm still having alot of fun still and I mainly play manually. :)

It’s a cheap anime gacha they’re always like this. Then they get shut down once they’ve milked us. It just is what it is. Sometimes I go weeks without logging in. Don’t let this game live rent free in your head.

I feel pretty similar, actually. For reference, I mainly play F/GO and P5X (sometimes Master Duel) and I started playing BSR because a friend tried to get me in. But honestly? I was already barely logging in, and I usually find myself more willingly logging in in the first two. I don't know if I should quit or not at this point...it's just that, well, I just never find myself to want to log in anymore.

1

u/InformalMaximum760 12h ago

How fun is P5X? Never played any Persona games. I only knew about it when Dragalia Lost had a crossover with Persona

2

u/Silvercenturion_aa 11h ago

Well, you'll loose for sure a lot of references between collab and main story, especially since the game seems to exist in duality alongside P5's plot.

That aside, you can definitely start from there. But I'll be real with you, the first two acts were complete ass because of the previous writer. They actually did fire him before act 2 was released, bringing in Nitta, the writer of P5R, but he didn't have enough time to rework It. Act 3 tho...is on par with the best acts of P5R (not Third Semester, because that is on another level) but it's amazing. The writing went 0 to 100 immediately between Arc 2 and 3, and 4 Is going to be even better.

As for the gacha, it's actually not that bad: there are of course two banners, Character with 80 pity, and Weapon at 70), but they later added a 110 pity character banner with guarantee for the character of the banner, plus every 165 collective pulls (yes, all pity carries out between the same banner types) you get a random free 5 stars between the standards. Also, if you start right now, there is the pre anniversary event which will allow you, by just logging in each day, to get Chord, one of the big 3 of supports, alongside her weapon.

And finally, farming. Farming for resources is actually pretty chill if compared with other games such as Genshin, but the greatest thing is the fact that the game gives you "artifacts" selectors pretty often (in game are called Revelation Cards, the pre anni event is giving out a lot of them too) with which you can just choose what you need.

1

u/InformalMaximum760 11h ago

So it's best to start now or start on the anniversary date? I don't mind farming for materials as long as the drop amount/stamina required is reasonable. One thing that I find annoying with this Bleach game. They are dropping 1 purple scroll for skill upgrade but you need hundreds of them. How are we suppose to play with the character if we can't upgrade them?

2

u/Silvercenturion_aa 11h ago

Now, so you get extra materials, Chord and her Weapon, plus you get to pull the Navigator that is still considered the best in the servers that have one year of difference, Ange.

1

u/InformalMaximum760 10h ago

Thanks! I'll give this game a try

3

u/TYGeelo 12h ago

I am! Just faaar too much content since I play multiple gachas.

There are so many samey events you "have to" do, then on top of that you have Tower, Frenzy Fest, Guild Battle, CO-OP, Roguelike, Stamp farming, stamp farming but in a corridor, limited game modes...

"Then just auto it all anyways!", yeah I can, but I also really don't like how hot the game makes my phone heat up and there's just something about the daily process that really irritates the hell outta me and I can't put my finger on as to why.

I quit without knowing i did. U are right. It becomes obligation to log in and claim rewards, instead of actually playing the game for the fun and the thrill we never get. Its a shame, the game had potential. But this is the path they chose.

2

u/Worried-Couple335 12h ago

I understand where you are coming from. Although, I don't really feel bored or tired of the game just yet. What I am frustrated about is the marketing of this game. After watching that AI trailer, I just feel like the marketing team is trying too hard to squander the hard work put out by the developers. If this continues, the player base should start a movement to axe AI usage for good at the very least.

1

u/InformalMaximum760 12h ago

What AI trailer? First time I heard of this

2

u/Worried-Couple335 11h ago

Well, the Chinese marketing team were doing a hype trailer for White's reveal and it was made with AI.

2

u/MeteorFalcon 11h ago

Ive been just playing how I want to. I think the daily login is prob just burning you out.

This game is VERY F2P friendly, so use that to your advantage and just be more casual about it.

2

u/SaberManiac 10h ago

I'll say this, I planned to get Grimmjow and peace out, but they dangled White Ichigo and Ulquiorra in front of me.

If they ever release Hisagi, I'll get him and leave oimut because I would have officially run out of Bleach characters I actually like (Toshiro, Ichigo, Grimmjow, Hisagi, Rukia, Urahara, Yoruichi).

2

u/Slizzet Sousuke Aizen 👓 7h ago

I am still enjoying myself. I like trying to push my F2P account up the leader boards (I seem hard locked at Gold 3).

I could see it falling off after a while though. It'll depend on the released characters, I imagine. I also think the hype of the final cour might give us a boost both in players and in excitement. But we'll have to wait and see for sure

1

u/Shang_Zilla 12h ago

You should definitely take a break from the game.

Happened to me with Star Rail. I took a 3 months break and then I came back and enjoyed the game even more than before !

At the end of the day, it's a game and should be fun

2

u/LaureZahard 12h ago

It happens with games like this. Specially after you play games like Wuthering waves where the world itself is alive and you can find and fight mobs while exploring.

I do wish character collection and progression was a bit easier, so that every week at least you could try to pull for a new character or dupes in the permanent banner and that'd keep you busy buulding your characters and having that sense of progress, instead of seemingly being more geared towards whales or hoarders with fomo exclusive banners and which leaves casual players in a weird spot at times.

BUT I know that the gane is fairly new and the Devs are experimenting a lot with new stuff so I play because I want to see what they have in store for us next.

u/kevinkelly101 2h ago

Same feeling developed for me once I started nte. The amount of content and the liveliness of the world compared to this is like night and day but I’m still pumped for white and hope his gameplay wows me else it’s ggs

1

u/Mars_203 12h ago

For me, its just fine. I've completed alot in wuwa or genshin that what I do are just dailies, weekly bosses, collect rewards and repeat. It's the same in bleach. Stopped in fun anymore, now its just part of my daily routine after work. Just get excited if there is a new characer/story

1

u/Ok-Bar-1550 5h ago

I sure am. Probably spent more than a hundred bucks on the game, but starting it every day and doing all the daily events started to be a chore more than anything. When there was non-auto content, I just started to not do it at all. When I realized I wasn't getting any fun in playing it anymore, I just stopped

1

u/renji55eb 4h ago

Gotta have another game on the side. I got like 3 or 4 other side game I play after 20 or 30 mins of BSR

1

u/Dazzling_Cat5516 1h ago

Well, I've been playing as F2P since mid-december and I am still enjoying myself.

But I am a HUUUGE Bleach fan, so I guess I'm not normal.

1

u/Affectionate-Week166 11h ago

I think it's just lack of popularity in these characters. Grimmjow is good but personally don't like the strike team too much. I don't think white will bring some life back lol

1

u/TheBolognaPimp 10h ago

then there’s me… who’s only played the 1st chapter since release😭

just pick up another game or 2 & you’ll be fine! come back after about a month to returner rewards/freebies, then the game should feel a bit more fresh.

It's a toilet/commute/lunchbreak game. You can do most content in 15 minutes a day. I do think we need more content variety other than kill this enemy fast though. Waiting for the guild raids that were mentioned as well as a new interlude and hopefully they start adding more SR characters and enemy variety. Still missing 6 lieutenants and the rest of the privaron Espada. I'm hoping a lot of content is being held back for TYBW's airing due to unrevealed content.

1

u/InflationEither2762 8h ago

I played because well it's the best Bleach game right now lol and the game is fun with each character being different playstyle really keep me going

1

u/Ambitious-Sandwich92 Kenpachi Zaraki 🔔 8h ago

That’s kind of just the gacha game way. It’s more about getting addicted to the daily grind aspect than fun.

It’s just fun enough to keep me coming back every day to stay on top of events.

u/Glutoneria Szayelaporro Granz 🗡️👅 8h ago

yeah maybe... as a low spender too (less then 50 dollars) im kind of in the same scenario but at the same time i really like this "phases" where unfortunately we dont have much to do in game so its time to save resources, and do the bare minimum to keep your account up to date.. im now maximizing all my chars so i dont have to worry about any of this in future (just w new chars obviously) and be able to focus completely on stamps... yes, it's a way more monotonous moment in the game, but i think that's part of any gacha game, idk... i kind of like it lol

-6

u/Learntogiveup 12h ago

The three weeks for a new character to come out is too long imo. They need to push characters out every 2 weeks soon or im afraid there will be a lot of people leaving the game

7

u/Traditional-Donut-67 12h ago

3 weeks is fine we need event interlude back

1

u/kevinkelly101 2h ago

Idk why you’re getting downvoted but that’s one of the main issues that nobody wants to admit. Though I think the characters should stay for three weeks but new characters should be pushed every two weeks
