Looking for some recommendations!

Hey all!

I want to state this up front: I am not from LA, nor do I live in LA. I'm putting this post up in hopes of finding some Bike Fit recommendations for a friend, who lives in Topanga!

(I don't even know if that counts as LA)

My friend is trying to get into cycling, and asked me to build him a bike - a side hobby passion project weekends-in-the-garage thing, I've built a few for other friends as well. I've finished the build here in TX and he will be picking it up the next time he's in town.

He and I are complete opposite body proportions / shapes / sizes. I'm 5'7, stocky and chubby, with a 27.5" inseam riding a 50cm roadie. He's 6'2 with a 32-33" inseam. Thus, I've basically been guestimating his sizing for things like stem length, handlebar width and seatpost height, that sort of thing. I'm fairly confident, as I've known him for 20 years, that this bike will fit him well enough - but bike fits are so personal, it's really hard to know for sure from so far away.

Seeing as he is brand new to this, I'm trying to find recommendations on some rudimentary, preliminary, just-bought-my-first-bike style bike fitting. I know there are some very serious fitters and studios in LA and the area - but to be completely honest, he doesn't need anything serious. He's riding flat pedals, probably in shorts, on a drop-bar, rim brake hybrid. (A well-built bike, I might add ;])

What I'm trying to find, and trying to set up for him, is a relatively introductory bike fit. Just to make sure his first few months riding around town aren't completely miserable. I'd like him to ride this bike and fall in love with cycling, and the easiest way in my experience to achieve that goal is to ride a bike that fits properly!

I can't stress this enough: he is not a semi-professional amateur crit racing fanatic. He's a laid back guy that wants to ride to the coffee shop and maybe around some of the more maintained dirt / fire roads and windy small-town routes.

He lives in Topanga, and has transportation to get the bike from A to B if he needs.

Any direction or guidance you can give me will be much appreciated! I'm also going to crosspost this in a few places, so apologies if you see this multiple times!

Topanga Creek Outpost used to be a bike shop until very recently converting into leather goods, and the owner offered fittings as a paid service then if memory serves. He may still do bike fittings by appointment. Your friend may want to give him a call and ask.
