Product Review If you respectfully refuse to buy into the hype of Rhode Beauty, but still wish to resemble a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed, please read on ...

Hello all, I am reporting to you from my lounge room with a very plump, hydrated ... and dare I say it? .. 'Glazed' face today.

Now, if a product promises dewy perfection in a bottle I will be intrigued. I can't help myself. I am what I am. Most of what I am these days is a devotee of my beloved Stratia Rewind Serum. But I'll be the first to admit I do get a little restless and stray in search of glossier pastures from time to time.

When Rhode Beauty first launched, I rolled my eyes. Another celebrity brand to give someone's less famous spouse something to do while they were not on tour. However, the fanatical popularity of the skin glazing milk did pique my interest. I held off however, confident that the demand for this kind of product would see a brand I actually like come out with something just like it. Enter Stage Left, my trusted skin care companion that is Skin1004.

I was placing yet another order on Lila Beauty, and some of my order was products from Skin1004 that I wanted to gift various friends for their birthday. So I added to cart, and realised with just one more item I would receive a deluxe sample. I did what any sane shopper would do and sorted the Skin1004 products by 'newest'. And there is was. The Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Teca Glass Skin Milk. And for literally half the price of the Rhode equivalent. I just received it today, and boy oh boy. It is milky, almost a serum like texture. And glaze it does! My skin is plump, hydrated, noticeably less red and has a luminosity that is rather lovely. I'm very set in my skin care ways, so it takes a lot for a new and/or 'trendy' product to impress me. Run do not walk.

Edit: so I went back to Lila Beauty today and the Glass Skin Milk is sold out! Wild. Also, after two days of use I am applying this after serums but before moisturiser & sunscreen.

I'm a fan of Skin1004 so this has me intrigued. At what step of your routine do you use this?

I just got it today, but going by the texture I would use it after liquid chemical exfoliants and liquid toners but before serums.

It’s lightly occlusive so if you put a lot of significance on your serums, you may want to swap the Teca after serums, before your moisturiser 💙

Edit to say after two days of trying this I am applying it after serums before a thicker moisturiser or sunscreen.

Appreciate the update! I'll definitely consider adding it to my cart when June sale time eventually rolls around.

Did you use to write blogs? The way you write is giving “blogging” era vibes and I love it 💕

The new No7 Good Intent milk moisturiser/essence is also amazing. I haven't tried Rhode but I imagine it's going for the same sort of thing. Very Korean 'inspired' ingredients and formula. Fragrance and oil free. It's on discount at Priceline at the moment. The whole range looks really promising but I haven't tried anything else yet.

I prefer it to most other milky essences I've tried. It's quite substantial and the brand actually indicate it's a moisturiser on the directions. It definitely gives that 'glazed' look but is very nourishing.

I love No7, especially their Future Renew Eye serum. I’m adding this to my wishlist at Priceline!

Does priceline have testers of these in store?

Not in the two that I go to, but they're smallish ones so they might in larger stores.

I still think the glazed face thing is a troll that went too far…

Skin1004 has done wonders for my rosacea skin. I’ve tried maybe 6 different products now and they’ve all been winners so I might add this to my next cart. My husband has been stealing my products too!!!

Does anyone know how this compares to the Laneige Cream Skin toner? Price wise it has me intrigued

This Skin1004 one is much thicker than the Laneige.

I’ve gotten my hands on one of Skin1004’s moisturisers and I’m impressed - and it’s only day 2 of using it.

That is exactly what I was buying for my friends! It’s such a great base for make up.

Hello! What other skin1004 products would you recommend? That brands always intrigued me and I have wanted to try some stuff thank you :))

I like the bakuchiol eye cream and the probio-cica intensive ampoule for use with my prescription retinoid. For day time use, I love the Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule for my acne prone skin to hydrate and reduce redness. The Hyalu-Cica sunscreen is also great.

I’ve been using it for about four days now and my first impression was that it is SO softening on the skin. It has my face feeling like a baby’s butt. I was kind of confused at what step to apply this in my routine, but I am finding it fits well after serums but before my moisturiser. I have only tried it under makeup once and there was a little bit of piling on my chin but I’m not sure if it’s from this product or something else. I have sensitive, textured skin with mild rosacea and the product hasn’t aggravated my skin at all; it feels soothing and gentle.

Oh lord. I don’t need the temptation but let me update my wishlist real quick.

Thank you! They are so fun to write and I love sharing my experiences :)

I would just like to point out that the second ingredient on the list is a silicone, which can cause irritation and bumps to sensitive skin if used everyday. Just something to keep in mind ❤️ it’s the reason it feels amazing but also occlusive.

Did you use AI to write this? The language and way you’ve written it feels like it’s an ad.

13

u/phantompath 19d ago

I’m a creative writer as a hobby, AI is my mortal enemy.

2

u/saltysoul_101 19d ago

Fair enough! Just thought the language like “run, don’t walk” is very marketing speak.

I’m an elder millennial, I’ve probably picked up some phrases from watching Beauty YouTube for the last ten years.

2

u/saltysoul_101 19d ago

That’s true, I’m a millennial too and sayings along those lines were popular at the height of the YouTuber days. In that case, I’ll check your recommendation!

The Gen Z’s don’t get it 😆

Much love from a Xennial 😘
