Daycare Question
Hi All - We’re pregnant with our first child and due in Jan 2027. I keep hearing from others that you should get on the daycare waitlist as soon as you get pregnant. So asking the broader group when should we start touring the daycares and when should we get on the waitlist ?
We live in Fremont, Seattle. TIA

I would start now. Much better to be earlier rather than later. Availability does depend what you’re looking for, what age you want to start at, and how many options are available/convenient to you. Daycare was the first thing we really looked into after getting pregnant. I heard it could be hard to get a spot but I didn’t really understand the timeline. I’m due in July, started researching in December (about 8 weeks along) and did most of my tours and the end of January/ early February though would’ve done them sooner if not for the holidays.
We ended up highly preferring one daycare over the others we looked at. I feel very lucky that earlier this month we were offered a spot for October, when baby will be about 3 months which is just what we were hoping for.
Making sure our daycare was licensed and up to date was extremely important to me so I used this website to verify: https://www.findchildcarewa.org
