Discussion Played with a hacker

Played a 3v3 match with randoms. The cheater was pointing out the location of other raiders and what they had. I asked why he does it and how much was it. He said this is how he likes to play, and he pays $50 month. I asked him, didn't you hear about the new anti cheat aren't you worried. He said naw, if they ban me ill buy another $2 account.

During the match I felt un motivated to continue playing arc raiders. Like what's the point.

I started ratting him out to other teams near us, telling them to report him. He told me I was no fun. He also mentioned how he can unreport his account somehow, he wasn't worried about people reporting him.

I hatched out and I kept watching him. I can see why he has to hack, dude sucks ass at aiming. He almost died to wasp lol.

Tale as old as time, they usually suck at the games they are hacking on

Cheaters talk like they’re playing 4D chess, then miss shots on AI mobs with wallhacks. Bro paid $50 a month to still be trash with subtitles.

If you can afford $50 a month to cheat at a video game I don't know what to tell you. That's just sad.

"Afford" and "have purchased" are two different things. Most people don't know what they can or cannot afford and still spend the money regardless.

that's rough man, the fact that he's dropping fifty a month on cheats and still getting worked by a wasp is actually kind of hilarious in a depressing way. like if you need that much help just to compete you're basically admitting the game's too hard for you, which defeats the whole purpose of playing it. the unreport thing sounds like total bs though, either he's lying to feel tough or the anti cheat system is way more broken than it should be. did you end up reporting him through the game or just warning the other teams? because if the devs are serious about the new anti cheat they need actual evidence, not just randoms calling it out mid match.

The game itself is fun but the cheats are way too rampant and the attention paid to the issue is more lip service publicity it’s sad for the people who actually enjoy the pvp aspect.

Did you record it?

25

u/_Junx_ 8h ago

I mean people stream themselves hacking; plenty to watch.

4

u/stoic818 8h ago

I didn't.

11

u/dasSolution 8h ago

That's a shame.

These stories are popping up more and more, and always so elaborate. But there's never any recording of them.

Maybe one day someone will hit record.

13

u/xepion 8h ago

There’s quiet a few videos. It’s wild that it shows all the details.

Direction they’re facing. What primary and secondary + which is equipped.

What’s in the loot spots.

Just knowing the loot items itself makes it tempting alone. Just b line for the templates …

I’m sure somebody had made a farming bot for this…

u/dasSolution 5h ago

I've seen maybe two videos on YouTube, but by the stories and claims here, it's made to seem like everyone's cheating, and that every lobby has rage hackers making a beeline for all the good loot.

Can't argue the validity? Argue the extent.

Backpedal harder

5

u/ArgyllAtheist 5h ago

Kinda weird take to see so many videos showing how the cheaters are using ESP etc, but try to imply that OP just made it up...

And if someone DID hit record, you would go straight to "that's fake/edited".

Why? Why try to deny what we can all see happening?

2

u/Dumb-Cumster 5h ago

He's just trying to gaslight - deception isn't simply isolated to the game itself.

-7

u/dasSolution 5h ago

“What we can all see happening”.

I've never heard anyone telling me what is in my backpack or running straight to me when I'm at the corner of a map. I am in a large Discord with other ARC players who have never seen this happen, either.

I've only ever read stories on here. Stories that are never backed up by recordings.

We all have a choice on what to believe. Some believe everything they read on the internet. Others ask for evidence.

For almost all people it's not just "hit record"

it's not like everyone has OBS in the background or is accustomed to clipping their gameplay

The percentage of gamers that stream and all that is extremely small

I think nvidia might have it built in somehow but it's not like everyone gets their graphics card and then rushes to read the manual

u/Smagjus 5h ago

Nvidia disables this feature when you watch DRM protected media in your browser. Can't even turn it on again until you close your browser.

u/Nirxx 4h ago

Steam clipping is literally built in to steam lol

all consoles have recording built in

1

u/Maleficent_Pen_9076 2h ago

between windows game bar, nvidia whatever, and steam - i'm pretty sure the steam one is the least known by far

windows/nvidia at least make some effort to shove it into ur face just once so that u have a chance to know they exist

-2

u/EirikurG *** ******* 6h ago

Windows has a built in screen recorder in Game Bar that captures the last 30-60 seconds

5

u/Maleficent_Pen_9076 6h ago

The next time you go out to the mall or bar, walk up to people and ask them "Hey one quick question, do you know to activate your computer's Game Bar?"

I think you might be surprised by the answer

I even vaguely know of it and I don't know. I thought it might be windows + X for xbox but that wasn't it at all.

3

u/polaroid 6h ago

I’ve been gaming, building pcs since the 90’s and I’ve never heard of Windows Game Bar.

There are hundreds of videos of cheating on YT, if that's really what you're interested in..

1

u/stoic818 8h ago

I should have recorded it.

u/Harrythepigeon 8h ago

I suck, but I take my punches like a raider! I just get upset knowing my scrappy is orphaned.

Don't take legal advice from the opposition and don't take cheating advice from cheaters. I doubt he can unreport himself very much. Convincing you it's no big deal so you don't bother more likely.

It sucks but cheaters happen, will be a smaller % than we think but larger than what we want. I've only faced a couple but it's annoying as feck.

Report and try not to dwell, like meeting asshole drivers.

3

u/No_Nefariousness_783 7h ago

I had the same thought.

3

u/Shriim 6h ago

Smaller % than we think. The % is pretty much 100 if you are in the sweatiest pvp lobbies, which you can easily confirm just by looking at the steam profiles after match. Guaranteed multiple lvl 0 fresh accounts with nothing on them or multiple existing game bans. Game is cooked for pvp.

0

u/Komone 5h ago

I agree but we don't have any numbers so it's all very subjective. I'm not in those lobbies and have still met them on occasion.

*He said this is how he likes to play…*

Likely because he’s dogshit at actually playing, and he has zero interest in learning, because his fragile ego can’t handle the losses that come along with gaining new skills organically.

5

u/ChrisRedfield87104 8h ago

Bro I suck at PvP and I would never cheat. Does feel good when I do get skillful kills, which is usually when I’m doing 3 on 3 PvP.

3

u/spectre15 7h ago

Also feels like in the time that it takes you to find a cheat provider, download the cheats, set it up, and come up with a complicated method of not getting detected, you could just put in the same effort into getting good.

I just couldn’t be bothered to try to cheat even if I wanted to.

3

u/Shriim 6h ago

Complicated method, haha

4

u/ElectricLeo 5h ago

$50 a month!!!

3

u/jjamesw1995 4h ago

A large part of the cheater problem is that it gives them the confidence to run really good gear, so even if they’re bad players not only do they have the advantage of knowing exactly where you are but they also know what gun/loadout you’ve got and what your current health pool is, add that to going against their kinetic bobcat/tempest/volcano then yeah… pretty hard fight. Unless you play your utility really well you’re done. Soooo annoying, happens to me like 50% of the time I’m on a gun run and bringing in good guns

3

u/Specialist_Rule4182 3h ago

I’m not an expert but the way Embark is handing cheats just sucks .

1

u/czechloverfromG 6h ago

Uninstalled ARC, started playing The Forever Winter (still early release) but its worth it.

See you in the Innards, scavs.

u/AsogRaider 3h ago

I feel like I played with a hacker yesterday. I don’t know why but I guy I played with before invited me to a duo and then decided to add a random.

Random doesn’t use a mic, proceeds to sprint to all of the breach lockers without fail. We get attacked, he completely ignores us, eventually goes somewhere 500 meters away from us and proceeds to team wipe, keeps it moving and extracts

Why even match make for trios?

Here’s to hoping I don’t get banned for grouping with the fuckers. Rule? Don’t ever play with randoms or play with people that play with randoms

1

u/DynamicBSdetective 2h ago

They don't want to play, they want to win. Sad, sad people.

-3

u/bobaka83 8h ago

PS5 + no crossplay, solved 👍

4

u/Upbeat-Recording-141 8h ago

Adoreable that you think consoles are safe, people have been running dmas on them for ages. 🤣

6

u/TDuncker 8h ago

I don't think anyone genuinely believes that they are 100% safe. It's still 1% compared to PC, so basically doesn't matter there.

2

u/normiespy96 7h ago

IDK when I played R6, the sub was filled to the brim with console players complaining about XIM users. I encountered a cheater 1/20 games on PC but console players said that at least 2/3 games had a cheater on it.

2

u/Upbeat-Recording-141 7h ago

Yeah, go and watch the videos on apexs predator leaderboards on console. 🤣

0

u/TDuncker 7h ago

I'm not sure how that relates to my comment? Of course some cheat on console and of course those will hit leaderboards. It's still far less than PC.

1

u/Upbeat-Recording-141 7h ago

Larger player base, easier to cheat on, why would it be less, because you said so? Xims were around years ago, now theirs a ton of external devices that are pnp.

0

u/TDuncker 7h ago

What? Exactly because it's easier to cheat on PC like it always has been.

You end all your comments weirdly aggressive or passive aggresssive, so I'm just dipping out. Have a good day.

0

u/JustChillin3456 2h ago

Completely different games

-2

u/Dry-Physics3558 8h ago

Until the playerbase falls off Cliff. Yea I guess solved

1

u/D3ViiL 6h ago

There is no 100% effective anti cheat, only way to achieve that is LAN and even there at tournoments from time to time people try to cheat...

Think of gaming as sex, some pull out, some use condom, some spiral or day after pills but somethies you will get pregnent because nothing is 100% safe

If anti-cheat stop kids, mass users, free or once payment cheats that is GREAT!!! They will NEVER manage to 100% stop sub based cheats and even if they do from time to time new will pop up because sadly there is market for it. And this isn't Ark issue but gaming overall problem.

-9

u/-Error_Loading_Name 8h ago

Don't worry it's working as intended. Embark won't/can't address the API hacking and the people here like it that way. "It's aN ExTrACtIoN sHoOTeR" is the only thing they can say when you talk about the hacking or glaring API issues.

1

u/dasSolution 8h ago

What “API hacking”?

6

u/Coldspark824 8h ago

Most online games work on 2 parts: the client (you) and the server (arc raiders).

If everything was done on the server it would be laggy as all get out, so a lot of processing is done by the player, and your computer tells the server what’s going on. The engine in the game handles this with part of it called the API.

Now…because the server is spitting back everyone’s info all the time, you’re only seeing a chunk thats the info necessary for you to know. But it’s all still flowing out of the server.

So what if your computer lies and tells the server it wants a report on a bit more about the game?

Now you have information on everyone.

You can also tell your computer to lie about where you are and where your bullets are going and what items or health you have; meaning you always hit or never take damage or teleport. These kinds of outgoing hacks are much easier to detect and normally checked against other players’ info, but it happens.

But the incoming data spoofing is easy to grab. Developers usually have to design around it or risk the servers having way too much overhead by checking constantly.

-1

u/-Error_Loading_Name 8h ago

Its why cheaters are rampant. Basically anyone in the game has access to your inventory and location. Anything equipped or in your bags... they can instantly see all of this information through API.

3

u/dasSolution 8h ago

You mean anyone using cheats can access this information, not anyone in the game has access to my inventory.

Like most other ESP cheat providers.

-5

u/-Error_Loading_Name 8h ago

Well anyone can, but not everyone cheats. IYou can cheat and have an advantage or not and get killed. Either way it's up to you on how you play the game.

-11

u/iDeficio 8h ago

Sounds sus, Where can I get a $2 account tho?

I need this for my friend.

-1

u/Osmanausar 8h ago

There are no 2$ accs. That's bs. You can rent one for a day for 2$.

0

u/smilingcritterz 8h ago

They used to be 75 cents on Eldorado. There is also a unban tool for m$ accounts that you can make unlimited accounts with family share. Unban tool .. wow ... but not for steam those accounts are 15 and then you buy a 5$ game family share to it and then refund the game.. ez peze.. haven't needed to get a new account or id tell you the lowest price. I think my friend sells them for 7$ atm :p

That's not account with the arc raiders on it
