what are your thoughts on Vanderbilt's change to not allow freshman to choose predetermined roommates? Were you also forced to have a random roommate or did you get the option to choose one? Lastly, if you have seen this happen, do people tend to largely dislike the change or no?

c/o 2025 got the option to choose roommates

personally the ppl i know who got random roommates usually just choose to co-exist, unless their interests really line up. it doesn't usually get bad tho (except for a few cases, which had to be addressed by ohare lmao)

I heard dining is absolutely terrible now. Are u required to buy meals from the school or can u choose to eat somewhere else

as a freshman u have to get their meal plan, its a req

dining was shit in the beginning but tbh it's getting better and better. it's still not great but it's improving

for example, they brought back the omlette bar in EBI, there's a pho bar, smoothie bar, etc. the new entree rules are dumb asf (they only let u get one protein at commons for example) but it's not a huge deal

u also get $250 from the school (it might be $225 not sure) to use with vandy-partnered restaurants in and around Nashville

Will chip in as a Vandy '24. You're required to be on the meal plan if you live on campus, which is all four years for the grand majority of the Vandy student population. I'm happy to talk more about my dining experiences – but I'm not gonna sour just yet.

it’s ok some days and bad in some. the TIME the halls open is what’s bad, not necessarily the food
