But this year they only admitted 6,300 students (it's written on my waitlist letter)

I don't think that's correct -- the 6,300 students is the number of slots they have to enroll. Their yield is around 40% (meaning the percentage of kids admitted who actually commit to attend). So they would have accepted closer to 15,000 to fill those 6,300 seats. Wishing you all the best in getting off the waitlist!
