The Palms at Indian Head

I’ll be coming early April for a few nights and I’m considering staying at the Palms. I’ll be with my two boys and we’re visiting to hike and have somewhere to swim in the evenings and be able to launch from at night for star gazing. Is this spot pretty good? The reviews show it’s old but hoping to get some better and more recent opinions on whether it’s kid friendly for at least swimming and how the food is at their restaurant. Thanks! If there are better options with similar price point let me know.

Nothing but good things to say about the Palms. Pool is awesome, restaurant is good enough, rooms are decent, price good 👍🏻

I love the palms, they just remodeled a bunch of the rooms. The pool is awesome- the steakhouse is notoriously slow. I haven't eaten there for years- I usually eat at Casa Del Zorro if I want something nice or Red Ocotillo otherwise.

The hotel is definitely old and shows its age even in the remodeled rooms- creaky floors, crooked doors etc but I still go a few times a year.

The pool isn’t heated and it’s big, so pretty cold. It’s a cool old historic mid-century modern hotel, but it’s not real kid friendly. There’s not a lot to do there. The restaurant is good, but expensive.

Excellent pool, surprisingly great food. Rooms are a little dated but whatever, it's the 2-star you've ever been to guaranteed.

I visited 2 weeks ago and it had a bad smell in the lobby.

I found the place creepy. The pool is large, but the property is ill-kept. You'd do better at any other of the major places there. The Palms is full of potential which hasn't yet been realized imo. Unless you're up for imperfect and funky.
