Moving to Amstelveen June 2026.

Hey, first time posting! Gay (MM) married couple moving to Amstelveen in June. Never lived in NL before. Just wondering if anyone has some ideas for meeting friends, chilling at weekends, etc. we are not really into sports. 35, 41. Any ideas?

Try the meetup app, they have dance meetup, cooking class meetups, language meetups, drinks meetups

Check out P60! There are lots of events happening there including workshops

Amsterdam is really close and the gay scene there is great and caters to every taste.

Perhaps some volunteer work at the coc or hiv Vereniging?

It really depends on what kind of person you are but is suggest you get an electric bike and cycle into the city!

If you do not like to hang with the gay scene try it anyway as it is really diverse and fun even for straight people

Thank you. We are a really chilled couple. 2 cats and relax at home sort of people. I like to go to bars and have a few drinks, my husband loves to stay at home. It works for us. I like booze, he doesn’t ☹️

Ahah seem just like my partner and I. He loves booze, i dont anymore and i love staying at home. Amstelveen doesnt have many bars and night life but amsterdam is really close. I love amstelveen cause is green and calm and can bike a lot in peace. Wish you both the best of luck!

Amstelveen is wierd. Not bad, strange IMO. It is very intentional and at the same time you need a little luck to make friends.
Try to join a club (other than sports). Where in Amstelveen will you settle?

There’s a regular 35+ meetup in Amsterdam. Do some googling to find it
