Issues With Affirm Card

I've tried chatting with affirm for hours and haven't gotten anywhere. I have been trying to pay a vet bill online using my affirm card and keep getting a message it can't go through. I have been approved and have everything set up with a payment plan already. The vet accepts Visa cards and doesn't sound like it's anything on their end. Affirm just keeps telling me that it should go through but it doesn't. Has anyone had this issue before and have any advice on how to fix it?

Search for the business....

If it isn't listed, try this

"Plan ahead for a purchase" -Request a plan to shop almost anywhere

Enter purchase amount.

See if that works for you.

So please correct me if I'm wrong. This has happened to me before with a different situation but same outcome. After days on the phone we basically figured it was a billing code thing. The code the vet office uses for bills is one that's listed under the same list as like a water bill. So just like you can't pay your household bills with affirm you can't pay that bill with affirm. The place I was paying has a second set of billing codes, I don't know how that works, I was able to pay it with affirm.

I'm planning to use my Affirm card for the vet in a couple weeks for an expensive surgery. I'll be checking back to see how this turns out for you. Best of luck!

I did have this issue once not with the vet though. I've used it with both our regular vet and an emergency vet before and it worked. The only time I had this issue was when I was trying to buy tickets to a show. For some reason it just would not go through. It was directly through the venue.

I'm assuming it must be something with the way it's billed. I have used it for my car insurance before which according to affirm you can't. I don't know if the virtual card number and our physical card number are exactly the same. But if they are different you can always try tap to pay instead.

This has happened to me several times, especially if I'm trying to make a large purchase from a store that is not listed on their site and especially if I'm trying to do this on a weekend day. It is very frustrating. I will usually call Affirm and ask them to escalate the request/problem and I always get an email a weekday or 2 later, apologizing and asking me to try again. I do, and it works.

This happened to me when I tried using affirm to pay for my daughter’s city college tuition. I had to use klarna instead and it worked.
