Finally I'm rewarded for all my purchases
Highest it's ever been, but to be fair, I use Affirm for all big purchases and pay it off early almost every time

The most I had was $10,000 and I ran it up. I am now finally below $2,000 God knows I feel so much better. I can’t wait until I am at $0.00 and I’ll leave this alone for a while

Inb4 someone comments “why are we celebrating the amount of debt OP can acquire through affirm?”

u/yuaysanosk 15d ago
Well they're not forcing me to use it lol

That’s what I say but you know the “Dave Ramsey”redditors like to peruse these subreddits to do their grandstanding 😭

Has nothing to do with force. Just stop trying to flex if you ain't using it. They gonna lower it by next week anyway.

Do people actually say this I honestly only use it for big purchases that I have the money to pay off but don't want to spend it all in one month, but most times I usually pay off it way ahead of time anyway.

I seen it a few times on here, but I use it for the same reason you do. I usually got 4x-5x the amount I need to pay for the big purchase in my HYSA but I rather not even pull money from there or my credit union savings to buy it when affirm lets me split it up over time 🤷🏽♂️ (minus the reporting to my credit as an additional BNPL account)

u/PuzzleheadedBus2345 15d ago
This is exactly how I use it, my parents have always taught me to never borrow money you know you can't pay back for real

Most people don’t know.. if you search for what you’re using it on.. your purchase power is higher depending on retailer

I use it all the time, I have serious anxiety spending money. This gives me some relief because I’m not initially spending as much, then I pay it off rather quickly afterwards. I have nearly an 800 credit score now. There’s so much BS about how badly it affects your credit blah blah. Apparently it’s not a big deal for my mortgage company either. But again, I’m sitting with a 1% DTI.

I'm the same way! In my head, I feel like if I ever outright buy something just my luck I'd have to pay for something unexpected so Affirm really helps that

I had 10k for a while...... then they suddenly for no reason chopped me to 5600. Idc, my available credit is through the roof now for real credit cards .

I have $5000 spending power in Afterpay but every time I try and use it all they give me is the paying four option. They don’t give me any other options. I can’t afford those kind of payments. Any suggestions?

IMO don’t use it if you can’t afford it got me in a tough spot financially until 2027

This is beautiful! Do you have great credit too? Or is this solely from managing your account well?

I JUST went over 700 for the first time 2 days ago. Been slowly building credit with secured credit cards and secured loans

dang.. I use affirm a lot too and I always pay back on auto pay but the most I have ever got from them is 4k but I have only been using them for like 2 years and only for bigger purchases.

Great job, I'm completely happy with these guys, my purchase power isn't that big but it gets me what I need!

I literally funded a family vacation with it before (cruise, flight, and ubers)

Let me know if they take it away from you. I had $7950. Then down to 7650. I affirmed $3k, shoulda had about $4k but they took it away after the purchase and I’m at $1k. I hate them.

I had 11k … and the app updated and I had zero … after 3 weeks they gave me back 600 😝

I had 12k purchasing power, ran it up to 6k and paid it off in 2 months. It's nice but obviously you have to be careful or it can easily get out of control.

It affects your credit now. It affects the age. That sucks!! I love affirm. But now it makes a difference on if and when I use it. Only if I have no other choice.

u/InterviewNo8480 14d ago
I’ve had close to 200 affirm purchases over the last 6 years and my “ age of credit history “ has yet to be affected

u/tooreal4u_5101 14d ago
Lies. Prove it. There's no way with TWO HUNDRED purchases your score did not go down like 50 points after closing the accounts / paying then off.

Clearly you didn’t read what I actually wrote …which was “ the age of my credit hasn’t gone down “ like when you open a new card .

I had 9k. Used 5k for brakes. Then only had 2k. Used it for little things until I found out they showed up as loans on your credit report. Now only for big stuff that I pay off quickly.

u/Bluelion7342 14d ago
I'm at $4500 with the occasional 2x bump at some stores. But that's wild, how much is your average balance at any given time?

Got myself into 2700 dollars worth of affirm debt being stupid…they will all be paid next year and after that I only plan to use if they’re a 0 percent program again and I can comfortably pay it off for a few months started hanging around with a couple rich dudes and they completely ruined my financial life lol
TLDR don’t listen to rich dudes that will just convince to pay it later so they can feel better about their horrible designer habits…

If it weren’t for the fact that I got put in the ICU and my husband had a heart attack at the same time I wouldn’t have had a problem, but life is what it is. I can only do what I can do.

I’m genuinely confused as to why this is a good thing. I’ll ask nicely for a response with no hate but this is Reddit so I’ll take your worst.

My purchasing power was $8000. Paid everything on time. Once I connect it to my bank account, it went down to $2000. Lol

Cash App/ After pay is a joke. I only ever use cash app to send me 22 year old son money. I use Affirm all the time so I decide to try After pay. After pay says my loans approved, I run the plan, get text from bank that they took payment and then bam After pay/Cash App says it was declined. I try my two other debit cards same thing. Finally I lower the purchase amount by half even though the original amount was below my purchase power and was being approved and they were declining my payments even though my banks all approved them. What do you know it goes through. Two days later my Cash App account is suspended and they want a selfie and all that even though my account was open for years and verified. I do what they ask and 3 days later my account is closed for violating their terms of use! I appeal, I ask them what terms I violated and not one person there would or could tell me! What A joke! I'll stick to Affirm, PayPal Pay Later, Sezzle and my own credit cards!
