Season 1 New Viewer and I'm already hooked
I just started *90210* because I've been seeing a lot of discussion about it over the years. Recently on Twitter there was a resurgence of people debating which girl was the worst character some saying Silver, others saying Adrianna.
I'm only on episode six of season one, and so far Adrianna is absolutely insufferable. I'm genuinely curious how she eventually becomes a bit of a fan favorite, but that aside I got to the infamous "whose the baby daddy" scene and it is hysterical. There is just so much happening in a single episode. I completely understand why people were obsessed with this show back in the day.

Switching Partners
Iām rewatching and I knowwww there was a lot of switching around who they were dating but I didnāt remember it being THIS much.
I mean, especially Ade and Silver.
I think Ivy and Naomi are the only ones that stuck with dating outside the group.
I think it was WEIRD seeing Liam hook up with Silver and Dixon date Adrianna. That didnāt seem like it would happen and didnāt make ANY sense for the characters but I get it, for the drama š
Who did you like Adrianna and Silver best with?

Discussion This show is crazy
Iām on season 4 and watched a few seasons when I was younger and donāt recall it being this obnoxious š donāt get me wrong Iām living for all the drama but the amount of inappropriate relationships happening with young adults and high school students in the beginning is so weird to me still lolll

Discussion Erin silver is a nightmare
What gets me about Silver is the hypocrisy. Naomi came onto Teddy while she was dealing with serious trauma, and Silver was FURIOUS. But then Silver turns around and sleeps with Navid behind Adrianaās back while Adriana is literally confiding in her about their relationship problems??
So when someone else crosses a line, Silver acts like itās unforgivable. But when SHE does it, suddenly itās complicated and everyone is supposed to understand? Make it make sense.
And before anyone says ābut Adriana swapped Silverās pills,ā Iām not saying what Adriana did was right. I do not excuse that at all. It was dangerous and awful. But people give Silver so much grace because of her bipolar disorder while giving Adriana absolutely none, even though Adriana was clearly in a dark place too.
Silver was Adrianaās person. Adriana trusted her, confided in her, cried to her about Navid, and Silver went behind her back and stole her boyfriend anyway. That would break anyone. If Adriana had done that to Silver, Silver would have lost her mind and cut her off immediately.
Silver pushed Adriana to the edge emotionally, just like Adriana later pushed Silver to the edge by messing with her medication. One was not okay, and neither was the other. But letās stop pretending Silver was some innocent victim who had no role in how bad things got.
Silver holds everyone else to impossible standards that she canāt even live up to herself, and thatās why she drives me insane honestly i started watching because i have Bd2 myself but she drives me crazy

Discussion Annalynne McCord as Naomi does not get enough credit for her performance
Iāve rewatched the series more times than I can count and I will always say Annalynne McCord carried the entire show on her back. From jump, she was the one who truly was acting her ass off. Naomiās whole character development is probably one of my favorites on a teen show along with Brooke Davisās from One Tree Hill.
But, I recently just found something out that I thought Iād share with other 90210 fans if most didnāt know because I surely didnāt. I always felt her SA storyline was so incredibly well acted and I remember feeling really intense with her over that entire storyline. I used to think āJesus, wow⦠she is ACTING! Wow!ā But I recently just saw an old Cosmo article and it was an essay from Annalynne and she explained that irl she had been SAād when she was 18 and when the show told her that her character would have that happen to her, she welcomed it at first and thought she could do it just fine but when it came down to it, it brought up a lot of emotions that she didnāt realize and in the scene where Mr Cannon SAād her, she genuinely had a massive breakdown and it shocked the crew & the actor who played Mr Cannon and they had to stop filming because she genuinely was so emotional and she explained to them the reason. So in a way, her acting as Naomi was empowering for her because she was able to act out her truth & her own story via proxy. Thatās why the scene with her and Silver was so sad to me when she blurted out āHe raped me!ā To Silver and Silver just coldly dismissed her and was like āWow, youāre really something elseā¦ā and just walked off. I mean⦠Iām rewatching the show now and rewatching these scenes with this knowledge allows me to have such a deeper respect and appreciation and love for the actress to be willing to do this storyline and act her ass off. It is really insane to me that the actress isnāt in more roles. I really wouldāve assumed some of the 90210 actors careers wouldāve taken off after the show. Iāll attach the article/essay for those who may want to read it. Itās a beautiful read.

Why do you think Jessica Lowndes didn't gain more prominence?
I think she had it all - a great singing voice, she could act, and her beauty was truly mesmerizing. I remember seeing her in the TV show Greek before she was on 90210. She was a minor character but I was gobsmacked by how beautiful she was.
I feel like after Season 1 something about her acting style changed. She was very raw in Season 1, and still good in Season 2 but then after that something changed. She started talking differently and it just came off as different.
She's done a ton of Hallmark movies. I've seen some of them and it just seems like there's not much difference in her portrayal of the characters. She could be a doctor in one movie, a writer in another, a PR exec in another, but it just seems like the same person. She doesn't seem to have a ton of range.
I could see her being big in the music scene, but she tried that and it didn't really take off. I listened to a couple of her songs and they just sound really generic - she would do better doing something more soulful, or with piano/guitar music instead of synthetic-sounding electronic backing music so her voice can shine.
I think it really is about connections and luck. I thought something similar about Leighton Meester. She was huge when she was on Gossip Girl, but Blake Lively had a much more high profile career than Leighton despite Leighton being very talented and charismatic. Blake has friends in high places.

Silver was Adrianna Karma
Iām rewatching 90210 for the first time as a adult and Adrianna drives me insane. The first time I watched I hated her and now that Iām rewatching I still hate her. Iām on season 2 episode 6 and Adrianna is now all sad and regrets breaking up with Navid for Teddy. I remember Navid and Silver having a thing going on and yes silver is wrong for dating her bestfriend ex and Navid is wrong for cheating and dating his ex girlfriend bestfriend.. but honestly thatās what she gets⦠Navid was a great guy to her I mean the dude was even willing to raise a baby that was not his and instead Adrianna chooses to cheat on Navid with Teddyā¦. Also Adrianna is very selfish

Adrianna canāt sing
Am I crazy or is Adrianna really not a very good singer? I feel like all her songs are really bad and she has the potential to be good but I just have a really hard time listening to her

Opinions on Ivy?
Iāll be honest. I 100% without a doubt would rank Ivy the lowest in terms of the substance brought from other characters. She is unbearable at times and is a huge cry baby. I attached to all the characters at some point and fairly quick but for some reason I never could vibe with her.

Ep 1x21 finale is one of the saddest scenes ever in television
When Naomi comes downstairs and just obliterates Annie off of the Liam lie. The way Na captivated the room and instantly brung a group hatred towards Annie was insane. The tension in that scene was so raw.

Annie disappearing?
Iām watching 90210 for the first time and currently on season 2 on the episode 10 and noticing Annie is hardly being shown in the episodes this season⦠does she just disappear later down the line in other seasons? I really did like her character before jasper and the hit and run, and feel really sorry for her for the horrible treatment sheās been getting from almost everyone in the show.. she was beginning to be popular, had friends, was smart, was pretty and her style was cute and now sheās in clothes as if she was from abnegation š and she has no one around her now apart from jasperā¦
Does she have any character growth back to how she was? Will we see more of her? (No spoilers please!)

FINAL OTP OF 90210/ ALTERNATIVE SEASON 5 TIMELINE THAT WE DESERVED
Characters that should've been endgame if the show didn't get canceled
Maxomi = Max and Naomi
Lannie = Liam and Annie
Nadriana = Navid and Adriana
Divy = Dixon and Ivy (her free spirit nature complimented his laid back persona alot)
Etharlie = Ethan (should've been kept and given Teddy's storylines) + Charlie (Liam's half brother and also make him bisexual)
Milver = Mark (Naomi and Annie's half brother) + Silver (unless they kill her off by giving her cancer)
Dating timeline
Annie - Jason, Ty, Ethan, Jasper, Charlie, Colin, Caleb, Riley then endgame with Liam.
Naomi - Ethan, Liam (George and Ozzie omitted to make them all one character as Liam and have him on the show since the beginning), Richard/Jamie, Max, Oscar (no need for Austin as Oscar could've been brought back or extended his stay as a recurring character), Preston, Max, Jordan then endgame with Max.
Silver - Dixon, Ethan, Navid, Greg, Liam (shudders) then endgame with either Mark (he already has kids from his marriage so this would resolve that baby fever nonsense or just kill her off and give her a cancer.)
Adriana - Ty, Navid, Gina (Combined with Javier that way her bisexuality doesn't seem like a phase but an actual journey of identity), Dixon then endgame with Navid.
Ivy - Ethan (Ivy's original introduction would be the storyline with Rhonda), Liam, Dixon, no Nick or Diego nonsense just Raj and her being by his side throughout his whole cancer diagnosis from beginning to end so that his death has more impact and isn't used for shock value and Liam (in season 5 to have her around instead of the random revolving door of women he was getting with. A love triangle romance with Liam and Silver since Silver would be entangled because she would want to keep the baby after things don't work out with Teddy as a surrogate. Could've easily replaced the mess with Jane/Michaela and it should've been Ivy finding out that she's pregnant with Raj's baby. Theirs complications when she gives birth and the doctors tell Liam he has to choose either her or the baby he obviously chooses her so it's like she looses Raj twice. Silver goes off the deep end for Liam choosing the baby as this was her next shot.) Is endgame with Dixon
Liam - Naomi, Ivy, Annie, Silver, Vanessa, Lindsay, Silver, Ivy then endgame with Annie.
Ethan (given Teddy's storylines as well) - Naomi, Annie, Ivy (in place of Rhonda), Silver, Ty (Mark and Ian's characters are fused into one with Ty for dramatic continuity purposes), Marco, Jason (Annie's Kansas ex during the Spring Break episode who he finds out is DL), Shane (they try long distance which leads to open relationship. Neither works for Ethan especially since Shane doesn't want kids they end up divorcing. This also keeps Ethan as a regular in season 5 with a storyline) this is where Charlie is brought back reveals he's bisexual they start out as friends and eventually are endgame.
Dixon - Silver, Sasha, Ivy, Adriana, Megan then Ivy is his endgame.
Navid - Adriana, Silver, the 2 episode flukes then endgame with Adriana.

So are we all ready to admit that Dixon was a cancer, Naomi was a Virgo, Silver was a Pisces, and Ade was a Scorpio?
r/90210 • u/Personal_Park_7895 • 16d ago
Any other teen dramas like this one where the narrative focus gradually shifted from the original lead(s) to a supporting or ensemble character who was already part of the cast?
Annie starts as the audience surrogate lead, but Naomi eventually became the breakout centerpiece. The only other example I can think of is Smallville because Chloe went from being a supporting friend to a key character for several seasons, although Clark continues to play a prominent role. Others that come to mind?
