Rewatching Season 2 and my blood is boiling with how Annie is being treated

It's more upsetting this time around compared to my last rewatch. Everyone failed this girl.

Naomi's cruelty was obvious. Silver tried to be supportive but refused to outright stand up to Naomi and even when she found out she swnt the text, she justified it because Annie was mean to Naomi for two minutes on the boat??

Dixon didn't believe her when she first told him she didn't sleep with Liam. His anger about her calling the cops was understandable, but he was so unsupportive to her, and had no problem being friends with Liam, who was part of the whole drama to begin with.

Liam pissed me off so much. He refused to tell Naomi it was Jen even when he saw how much Annie was suffering. She got "slut" painted on her locker while he faced no social repercussions apart from Naomi/Silver/Ade not liking him. And he got so angry at Annie when she lied on the boat. His childish "I can't take it!" Well sir if you had just told the truth to begin with none of this would be happening.

Okay yes it was probably wrong of Annie to do that but Naomi deserved it after all she'd put Annie through and the girl had probably been pushed to her limits and snapped.

Her dad, the principal, didn't investigate or do any follow up when a student was known to be in posession of a naked photo of his teenage daughter? WTF? Why weren't Mark and Naomi charged with child pornography? Everyone just swept this under the rug.

Discussion Liam becoming a barowner, made no sense.

okay, so I don't live in the us, but still, how could Liam afford to buy a bar. He wasn't even 21 when he bought it, and isn't the legal age, 21..Even with the money he had earned over the summer, how could he still have enough money.

And even though he had worked in a bar in season 1, it didn't fit his character.

It would have made more sense for him to become a mechanic. He had an interest in cars, and was good with his hands, and knew his way around an engine. If he wasn't going to go to college, then becoming a mechanic, would have worked better for him. But honestly, I feel like, he had the right idea in season 3. Go to college, and become an engineer. He was smart enough to do. It.

Honestly, him owning a bar, led to the modeling, and Vanessa, and acting, and Ashley.

Mr. Cannon and Naomi “Lying”

I’m rewatching 90210 for the first time in a while and I’m at the part where Naomi lies about Mr. Cannon sexually harassing her. But rewatching, am I the only one who actually felt like he was totally inappropriate when he said “are you offering to sleep with me?” When it was CLEAR that she wasn’t? Even though her intention was to manipulate and get her way (which I in no way shape or form agree with her) he lowkey did make a sexually inappropriate comment to her in asking her that. Mind you, she’s 16, why are you asking her if she’s offering to sleep with you???? This isn’t just a thought in hindsight in knowing that he does assault her later. Any thoughts?

Michaela the surrogate “singer”

Rewatching this show as an adult and can’t believe how bad of a singer Michaela is. Out of all of these crazy, unbelievable story lines in season 5, this one bothers me so much. I find it hard to believe they couldn’t find an actor to play this part that could actually stay on pitch and sing from the diaphragm and not the throat.

Liam

Does anyone else find it out of character for Liam, the reserved, reclusive type to suddenly want to be in movies and TV ( season 4)
And Vanessa, with no experience or connections, is able to get him onto a talk show and land him a starring role in a movie.
I like him better as a bar owner

Dixon should’ve died. There I said it. He’s so annoying and I really can’t stand him.

Naomi is either histrionic or has bpd

Is that too much to say from watching season 1. Idk she reminds me of myself SOMETIMES… (I’d definitely make some different choices though)
I have adhd and bpd and the way she acts emotionally seems familiar

I thought her liking Liam was a Limerence thing just getting in her head but it took me until he felt bad for what he did on the last episode of the season for me to maybe think he does like her

I’ve been with boys like him before and I never believed they liked me didn’t end up together they just do the avoidant thing which you get addicted to which is why I think it’s a Limerence situation

Another thing…her sister is a psychopathic narcissist and I feel so bad for her I haven’t got to the part when she finds out I’m itching for it

Rewatching Season 1

I’m rewatching season one with the original soundtrack (thank you to this Reddit!) for the first time since in 2013. I know everyone including the cast and crew is pretty much in agreement that season 2 is better than 1, but I don’t really see what makes season 1 so bad? Yes, the characters are jumping from relationship to relationship, but that’s honestly an issue the show suffered from its entire run. And I know that season 2’s aesthetic is different from the flashy/trendy style of season 1, but that’s more subjective. I wonder if the cast/crew were calling season 2 an improvement because of the work conditions and less about the writing itself. I recall Shenae and Annalynne talked at length about the long hours and the constant script rewrites which seemed like more of a critique of the showrunners. What do we think?

Ivy and Dixon

I’m rewatching 90210 and I’m on season 2 episode 21 where Ivy and Dixon get into that stupid fight about Dixon selling his stuff so he could afford to go to Australia. First off, Ivy did way too much during that argument and took it way too far. There was no reason for her to automatically assume he was calling her spoiled just because he said he wasn’t rich.

But anyways, the main reason for this post is how much I hate when the writers constantly do the back and forth swapping between everyone. Like why did Silver and Dixon end up kissing just because they were “drunk”? I don’t know, I just hate when they do that.

How do you guys feel about it? And what do y’all think about Ivy and Dixon as a couple? Personally, I liked Ivy and Dixon together way more than Silver and Dixon.

Discussion Review of Season 1

So I just finished season 1 and this is my review I will be reviewing the show based on how I feel about the characters in that season and also the coupling considering how they constantly swap couples..

Annie Wilson

Your typical teen drama MC the goody two-shoes outsider just trying to do the right thing, except she frequently doesn't. I knew the show was going to manufacture a reason for Ethan and her to get together despite him still being with Naomi. Her and Ty were actually cute, so naturally she flip-flopped between them, got mad at Ty for pulling back after her own behavior, then went back to Ethan anyway. Which also fell apart, because Ethan sucks too. Neutral on her for now. And she can't really keep a secret tbh 👀

Adrianna

Insufferable during the coke arc, and understandably. And ofc hated her for screwing with Ty (and Annie) Once she got with Navid and found out she was pregnant, I warmed up to her. Cool with her for now we'll see how long that lasts.

Silver

First episode, she posts a smear video about Annie for the crime of sitting with Naomi on her first day of school. That moment set the tone. Worst hits of the season: releasing her and Dixon's sex tape, publicly calling Ryan a groomer, and then acting shocked and obnoxious when he was rightfully furious. She carries this air of being above everyone while consistently doing unhinged things. Don't like her. Glad she's medicated now but damn

Naomi

Blair Waldorf twin tbh, messy, chronically mea and yet I kind of like her anyway. She has real chemistry with almost everyone: Silver, Adrianna, Annie, even Ethan during their brief reunion. The problem is she jumps to conclusions before letting anyone speak, and she's constantly overheating. I get that everyone hides things from her, which is genuinely annoying but at some point, let someone finish a sentence. Her family drama didn't do much for me. Seen it before.

Kelly

Haven't watched the original, but a quick Reddit dive confirmed she used to be exactly like Naomi. The show constantly tries to frame her as being in the right, and she never is. She was pissed at Ryan for distancing himself after she refused to open up because she was still hung up on her baby daddy. Then blamed him for Silver's behavior, even as he called her out for it, and just whined and played victim. Don't like her. Also why didn't she have a sit down with Adrianna since she too used to be a druggie???

Dixon

As a Black woman, I'm no stranger to shows from this era (and honestly this current one too) either having no Black/diverse characters or having them so poorly written they might as well not be there. Dixon is the only Black character with any real presence in the show, and the writers handle race in the most timid, weird way possible. The closest they got to actually saying something was the first episode and his fears of being adopted but it's never fully connected back to him being black. After that, nothing. On top of that, Annie was the one who went to Dixon's birth mother to speak for him I really wanted that to be his moment, a chance to reconnect with his identity on his own terms. They were never going to do that, but it's a miss.

Now the couples!!

Annie & Ethan— She watched him cheat on his girlfriend, saw him go back to that same girlfriend, and still thought he was the one. Surprise: he did the same back-and-forth with her. Their eventual breakup was also kind of stupid but deserved.

Naomi & Ethan— Toxic, but at least Naomi eventually accepted they weren't compatible. The friendship energy they developed toward the end was actually nice. It's a shame the actor left after season one.

Silver & Dixon — Some early chemistry, nothing substantial. The wisdom tooth episode was cute. But Silver was always too abrasive for Dixon, and the breakup wasn't surprising. The aftermath, though? Wowww

Adrianna & Navid— This came out of nowhere. Navid spent most of the season being written as a girl-crazy horndog, so his sudden "I've always been in love with her" pivot was jarring. But once they actually got together, they were cute. I know they're not going to last Adrianna is going to do something in season two but I'm enjoying it for now. 🤗🤗

Liam & Naomi— Never understood why Naomi was chasing someone who clearly had no interest in a real relationship. Didn't work. The hints of a Liam and Annie thing aren't doing it for me either.

Ryan & Kelly — Hated it. Kelly is too insufferable for me to root for her in any relationship.

And that's it! I know it's a long text but there was a lot going on in this season 🤷🏽‍♀️

Looking forward to season 2 I hear it's crazier than the first and I expect nothing less ~~

Discussion I love and hate how Silver was basically Kelly 2.0

Post image

Kelly was just as a bad friend to Brenda as Silver was to everyone. Seriously though, Silver had everybody's boyfriends. Sure, Annie was into Ethan and that was messy drama all on its own. But Silver basically had everyone's guy at one point.

What did Silver do? Ask Kelly how to back stab yout best friends?😭😂🤣

I only love that it added drama but I genuinely hate Silver & Kelly.

I thought truly she would be better after her whole “I’m different, pick me” thing she had going on in the beginning but now on season 4 she’s still if not more annoying.
