Too many names, some will never be identified.

264

u/Special-Summer170 Jan 25 '26

But also all the stolen immigrants who have been harmed... We have no way of knowing each person and what has happened to them. It's terrifying. If Alex and Renee can bring people together, great. I think we all recognize that there have been countless victims who will only be known once we can stop this mess.

73

u/PlusVera Jan 26 '26

It's really sad it's taking white deaths to get action to finally want to happen.

I went to Renee's memorial service. There's a piece of paper listing over a dozen names of people that have been killed by ICE -- directly or in camps -- who haven't been in the mainstream. I wish I'd gotten a picture.

One of the late night political comedians pointed out that Renee was the 7th death since September, and the "occupation" of ICE officially began in December. We're two months into this. It's shocking how much isn't getting reported on because the news misses it and there's just no accountability. No follow up on any of the others, so ICE just walks away.

9

u/Riaayo Jan 26 '26

There's something like 70,000+ people "detained" by ICE now. That's an entire small city worth of people just disappeared.

3

u/bedrooms-ds Jan 26 '26

1000 missing at Alligator Alcatraz and possibly far more children missing. I'm sick of this administration.

93

u/illustriousballast Jan 25 '26

Yes! Justice for everyone murdered and abducted by ICE.

48

u/Nunc-dimittis Jan 25 '26

Exactly! Both Americans and non-Americans. All murders committed by ice, not just the killing of white Americans

60

u/MizzBStizzy Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

Sadly we don't know all of the people that have been hurt by them. Last year approx 35 people died in their custody. How many are unaccounted for? This is just out in the open now

Edit: punctuation

Edit 2: I agree! We need to talk about all of these people. Keith was the first and no one talked about him. I first learned about him from you

u/dayumbrah Jan 25 '26

I think the reason why they have gotten more traction is the amount of footage and angles of both those incidents. Its a lot easier to get the folks to care when they see it with their own eyes. Its a lot easier to share and gain traction in social media.

Its sad but its the state of media consumption

3

u/BallsyBeefCurtains Jan 26 '26

Exactly. Emmett Till's funeral is a great example. Many didn't care until they saw his body and the extent of his murder. Saying "a baby died" and seeing a dead baby, evokes different levels of emotion. I haven't seen what happened to many others, this year. Mostly just these 2.

19

u/Tough-Paper-1387 Jan 25 '26

Yes, very important. At our vigil for Renee Good we read his name. We read the names of all killed by ICE or in ICE custody during this regime.

7

u/idahoisformetal Jan 25 '26

Came here to say this

6

u/chillychili Jan 26 '26

Also Silverio Villegas-González who I learned about from Legal Eagle's recent video and Geraldo Lunas Campos which I found on Wikipedia. There's probably a much longer list of not-as-well-video'd murders of citizens, documented, and undocumented people.

Immediately clicked on this to comment Keith Porter, I'm SO glad it's the top comment I see.

Edit: realized my comment made it seem like I am ignoring the known and unknown homicides happening in the concentration camps, of all ages. It was not my intention, they absolutely need to be remembered and those still alive need to be saved.

4

u/direhusky Jan 26 '26

Pretti Goode Porter would make a solid code phrase

1

u/Kirigaya_Katona Jan 25 '26

keith was shooting a gun in the air, killed NOT defending anyone (unlike good and pretti), and was killed outside of any ice enforcement. im so sorry but he does NOT deserve a spot up there. shooting a gun in the air kills children sleeping in their beds. stories all the time of bullets landing in just the wrong spot.

1

u/Flashy-Cat5666 Jan 26 '26

I had not heard about him. For anyone else who hasn't either, here is his story. Thank your for saying his name! https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/16/keith-porter-jr-ice-killing

I hate that him shooting a gun in the air in celebration and that being illegal while him also being a black man makes the narrative skewed

Imagine if this wasnt real life and instead it was a book or movie script someone wrote. There's a group of masked thugs with the authority to do what ever they want. They are called ICE. They go around killing people with the last names like Good and Pretti. Most people would think the symbolism was a little too obvious.

2

Sharing everywhere.

168

u/OkShow3496 Jan 25 '26

You can start by simply not participating in this rigged economy.

Cancel subscriptions. Only buy essentials. Donate to activist organizations. Start spreading the word. We need to all be screaming the word general strike over and over. We need to call on any person of status to be doing the same.

95

u/Ok-Victory881 Jan 25 '26

Only buy food from your local restaurants run by immigrants. No McDs, BK, Taco Bell.

52

u/Remote_Cantaloupe Jan 25 '26

local restaurants run by immigrants

Or just anyone local. There should be no ethnic divisions in this movement, just liberty against authoritarianism.

I go to a local Indian place pretty frequently and was sooo happy when my mutual aid group decided to have a debrief there, without my recommendation. The vibes align.

I personally recommend DuckDuckGo. I can't say I'm familiar with how Brave works, but privacy is also the default with DDG and I never see ads while using it.

1

u/mylartoy Jan 25 '26

Same re duckduckgo

5

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

Chromium is not Chrome, it's the open source basis of Chrome. Anyone is free to use and modify it. Even the DuckDuckGo browser uses Chromium.

4

u/hannafrie Jan 25 '26

I've stopped using Chrome.

I've stopped using Google as my default search. I have to admit, it is a superior search engine. But I am no longer defaulting to it, and using it for every little thing.

I have kept my Gmail account alive since I've had it for so long, but I have a Protonmail account, and I've switched my communication to that platform.

I have also removed all Meta apps off my phone.

I started this again on Jan 1. I’m done supporting all of this BS. I signed up to do post cards to swing states to fight disinformation. I am only buying essentials and even then…I’m choosing carefully. I’m finally looking to cut cable. Now is the time. I can’t imagine anything changing without real push back. As it is the world has been damaged for decades thanks to the orange sh*thead.

1

u/OkShow3496 Jan 26 '26

Scott Galloway has a very good podcast with Jessica Tarlov called raging moderates. Not only do i recommend giving it a listen, but I suggest spreading the word about it. They have very pragmatic discussions, and while i don't agree with all of their opinions, I angree with their fundamentals. I believe its a very grounded middle lane for conservative leaning independents and leftists to sort of meet.

But yes, we all need to be doing everything we can. Hurt them where it counts. Their pockets!

Good luck and much love to you!

Spending strike people! We need a month of no spending. Hurt the corporate overlords and get them to reign in their dog

12

u/someonetookmyname17 Jan 25 '26

How is that supposed to work in reality though? I would love to not spend but I need food and there isn't really a way to acquire it without spending. I already shop at local stores whenever possible.

12

u/McG0788 Jan 25 '26

It'd be essentials only and ideally supporting local shops only. Fuck Amazon and all the big corps. Anything other than essentials we hold off on to drive a message home

Also Pretti Good reason for revolution.

4

u/RogueKhajit Jan 26 '26

Yeah protests aren't sending the message.

25

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

Here is what everyone must get through there heads.

We are dealing with a dangerous cult. A cults effect on the mind is to change the very way you see and understand truth itself. When these people, including their leader, look at this situation they simply do not see the same thing you see.

They use confirmation bias to later reinforce their warped view. “Well he had a gun. Why does he need that gun? Surely he planned to use it. Ergo, he is a terrorist.” This is obvious confirmation bias being used to reinforce and double down on a warped view of truth.

It is so important to me. I am in fact begging all of you to understand: this has gone beyond reason, beyond peaceful protest, beyond diplomacy. It is already too late and we are going to lose if something more significant is not done. You’re trying to reason with, and send messages to, an impotent government led by warped minds that are not seeing reality. They are indoctrinated.

I have A LOT of experience with cults. I am not just baselessly saying this. I am making an informed and educated observation and desperately want everyone to pass this along before we completely lose the country. What government we have left that has any sense clearly doesn’t understand what we are dealing with. No amount of reason or pleading or intelligent speech is going to change anything.

For the love of god please get this through your heads before it’s too late.

A true national strike could be the beginning of doing something worthwhile, but it can no longer be passive. It can no longer be without sacrifice. Peaceful protest on your day off is not going to achieve anything whatsoever, and everyone has got to start understanding this.

4

u/stevie_the_owl Jan 26 '26

So what do we do? Are you saying all energy should be put behind a strike and economic blackout? I fully agree with you that a cult is what we are dealing with.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

That’s what I feel we should do yes. At great cost and sacrifice. We should unite and rally behind a date in the near future. And all across the country just stop showing up to work. Stop leaving the home.

Bring the country to its knees and refuse to relent for days or weeks. However long it takes. However many times it takes.

3

u/stevie_the_owl Jan 26 '26

I agree and I’m ready! It feels impossible to coordinate something on such a massive scale. But I would work to align my own community with it once the bigger decisions are made.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

Agree it feels daunting. I am but one person begging people to share what I’m saying about cults and seeing meager views and upvotes—tho this is not important to me as any more than indication I’ve been heard.

I wonder if it would be helpful for the leaders, like Walz and AOC, to take a stand and encourage the strike. Lead us into real action rather than offering words and pleading to the White House. Why could they not do this? How could we get them to act this way?

3

u/savsheaxo Jan 26 '26

Exactly. I’m seeing a lot of “when will this escalate into civil war?” It IS civil war. This is the beginning, it’s started and will only get worse. They are not going to be the last to die by the hands of ICE but they will not die in vain. We will have to fight back, form civil militias it is literally the only way idc if I sound like a crazy person I can recognize where we’re headed

18

u/findingmike Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

8

u/EbilCupcake Jan 26 '26

7

u/_Luisiano Jan 25 '26

Let's do this. Time to bring this broken system down.

49

u/stardustjp Jan 25 '26

The immigrants and POC that have been targeted weren't reason enough?

42

u/spaghetti_hitchens2 Jan 25 '26

For the US? No. White citizens needed to start dying for this to gain significant momentum unfortunately. Is that fucked up? Yes. Is that also the reality of our country? Also yes.

22

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

I'm very sure all of us POC see this. We know and internalize that it took the public brazen murder of two white people for it to matter as much as it does now to the rest of the country. But that's not the fight to have right now. Solidarity against the monsters is what matters.

11

u/Remote_Cantaloupe Jan 25 '26

True. Black people die all the time in Chicago but a man killed by the police in 2020 rocks the whole country. Black deaths are commonly treated as background statistics until there's some precipitating moment in the culture that acts as a catalyst. White people get killed all the time and it's never treated like the 2020 killing.

But as you said, this is really no time for ethnic divisions, it's a time for Americans to stand up for the principles of liberal democracy, forming a patriotism of its own.

19

u/Galle_ Jan 25 '26

There can be more than one good reason.

15

u/happyclamming Jan 25 '26

I see. That makes sense. I liked the artwork. Open to alternative messaging!

38

u/5pankNasty Jan 25 '26

1

u/5pankNasty Jan 26 '26

I'm sorry. I was very angry when i wrote that. However, while things are getting worse, it certainly feels like what is being done is not enough. Have you guys tried targeting the right wing properganda network. Like targeting fox news sponsors and advertisers. Seem like after a big event the "right" show a little compassion, and then they are told what to think, and they take that viewpoint with aggression. Take out the properganda, and your ranks will grow rapidly.

1

u/bluewhale3030 Jan 27 '26

There is no one right wing propaganda network. Our media is owned by largely conservative conglomerates, which are owned by conservative billionaires (Bezos for example). The propaganda is baked in. Yes there is always more to do but I would make sure you're not ignorant of what is already being done..which i find is not being reported on in other countries (news is suppressed here)

7

u/Outrageous_Echo_8723 Jan 25 '26

NATIONAL GENERAL STRIKE!

NATIONAL GENERAL BOYCOTT!

SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN until this regime is thrown OUT OF OFFICE!

3

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

I guess I am a cynic, but a national strike isn't going to achieve anything. The oligarchs already have more money than they could spend in several lifetimes. Striking won't bother them. They've already won the financial lottery. They own everything and a strike is only going to make the rest of us suffer.

We need a better strategy.

4

u/happyclamming Jan 25 '26

I am all ears. Seriously. I'm open to any ideas, I just want to avoid more bloodshed.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

If I had the answers, I 'd be posting them. I don't know what to do either. I just don't think a strike will be effective since we're already at a point where the ownership class is even wealthier than they were during the gilded age. The only thing that stopped them back then was the threat of revolution so they compromised and FDR's Great Society was implemented. The gilded class has been working to revoke those working class gains ever since.

I don't see any way out of bloodshed this time as the current crop of oligarchs are both dumber and more radical this go-round. They simply aren't smart enough to understand that oppressing people doesn't get them what they want.

I often think that the extraordinary peace of the last 80 years (on our continent, not in the world) has created generations that cannot comprehend just how awful things can get.

I guess one solution (too late to implement) is for every American to be required to perform civic service of some kind. Either everyone gets military training (this happens in other democracies) or has to serve the country in some fashion with others in a place far from their birth to prevent insular parochialism. We are a very large country; we need to experience the country from other perspectives. Rural folk should serve in cities and vice-versa. Wealthy people need to experience want; poor need to experience opportunity; etc.

Anyway, I do know MAGA radicals are itching to execute those who show compassion and kindness. I don't know how to fix something that requires someone without a moral compass to develop one.

Dude, I know. Maybe it needs one more step? Is there a way to find out who supported Republican candidates and avoid those businesses? I don't know...

3

u/barweis Jan 25 '26

Study how MLK, Jr. organized with a national coalition. You have Indivisible and DSA for starters.

3

u/RoyalGovernment3034 Jan 25 '26

Rest in power Alex Pretti and Renee Good

3

u/Mintyytea Jan 25 '26

At the very least, let’s all not do our taxes this year :) Its already coming up, it’s very easy to do too, just do nothing and one step is already accomplished

3

u/One-Cryptographer827 Jan 25 '26

Ironically Trump's favorite Broadway show is Les Mis. He has no clue what this song really means.

3

u/Rosecat88 Jan 26 '26

The constant leaving out of Keith Porter, a black man, isn’t great. Black and brown folks seem to be hurt by it as well.

3

u/funcyChaos Jan 26 '26

Of course 50501 recognizing the only two white people murdered by ice...

9

u/AdhesivenessWhole774 Jan 25 '26

I want to point out that Keith Porter Jr. was killed days before Renee Good. Additionally, POC have been suffering under 🧊 for years and making two white people the face of the uprising is....not a good look.

I get that it's right there because of their names and that their deaths are no less tragic or meaningful, but please, PLEASE do not gloss over the countless people of color who have been victimized by this organization for the last 23 years.

2

u/xxoxox33 Washington Jan 26 '26

I've copied a comment I made shortly after Renee Good was murdered:

I gotta be honest. I've been feeling this way too, as an indigenious (and Mexican) queer woman. ICE shot Silverio Villegas Gonzalez in his car in Sept in a very similar fashion. He was brown though, and not a citizen. So no one cared.

But I found (for myself) that it wasn't helpful to give those feelings much energy. Because ultimately, what everyone who is against the current US administration needs to do is, be angry enough to change. To push for better. We are all on the same side.

Maybe I'm just used to people not caring as much about injustice against BIPOC people, but honestly, I feel like the time to tackle these issues are when we don't have ICE roaming the streets killing people. We need to be united or they'll win.

There are no perfect allies. And if it took the brutal murder of Renee Good [and Alex Pretti] to make people pay attention, so be it. I agree with you, but infighting isn't going to help. I don't know.

That's all just for me, my opinion and how I feel. I'm not telling you how to feel or move forward.

Sure make it about the white folks, not the hundreds of years of BIPOC being erased...

Any other suggested ways than general strike to support this? Refuse work…Boycott… volunteer time… donate… what else?

My $ .02 is i really hope people demonstrating might consider to say all their names whenever possible if yt on top of striking and protest, with songs.

The Time is NOW!

2

u/Polygnom Jan 25 '26

"So, when and how do we do this?"

Tomorrow... By not going to work and instead going to the city center, preferably with a big fat sign. You don't need to organize, you just need to DO.

2

u/Fine_Bluebird_5928 Jan 26 '26

How about we do a more targeted economic boycott? I want a general strike but understand how hard it is to prepare enough people to make it through one. What this guy suggests sounds way more feasible and just as impactful or at least maybe impactful enough. https://youtu.be/cFsdnQCyuOQ?si=KKcIwHnmOl19iUA1

It's time to grind this shit to a halt, win mid-term elections and impeach ALL OF THEM.

2

u/buttsfartly Jan 26 '26

Need to start showing up at the homes of Congress members.

Don't waste your time on George Floyd 2.0, nothing changed.

“There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Remember this. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. And then remember this. The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try.”

2

u/twystoffer Jan 25 '26

Is it still a strike when we're marching while armed?

1

u/happyclamming Jan 25 '26

Obviously that is not the definition of a strike. So no.

Im so angry, I cant stop crying. Seeing people gunned down in the streets, people being ripped from their families forcibly, all of the poor kids alone in those CONCENTRATION CAMPS being tortured and screaming for help so loud you can hear from the outside... what do we do?! How do we FIX THIS?! The government is doing NOTHING!!! HOW LONG DO WE WAIT?! I am getting my concealed carry ASAP. I've been a permitted firearm user for 10 years, but I have never felt the need to carry and protect my family and my neighbors until this all started. Alex was screaming and begging for someone to stop taking pictures and help him, and everyone stood by and watched, so helpless and hopeless. How can we stop these Nazis?!

1

u/Few-Inflation1979 Jan 25 '26

All states need to follow Minnesota. Organize and shut this country down. The thing these people understand i$$$. They’ve already taken our money! This year 3 Americans have been murdered. We have no idea how many black and brown people have been murdered. They get kidnapped and are never seen again. The cruelty of this regime is devastating! We have got to all help in any way we can to stop what is going on! There is power when we stand up together!

Screaming into void to boost engagement on this post. We need more people talking about a national strike. It's the only chance we have to force Washington to take us seriously and listen.

It's truly fucking disgusting how you worthless socialists are trying to weasel your way into yet another legitimate issue and try to subvert it to your own ends.

The use of their names together may be clever but would their loved ones be ok with the catchy slogan for the sake of being clever?

1

u/Troublemonkey36 Jan 26 '26

My guess is yes.

1

u/BusIndividual5407 Jan 26 '26

Just stop going to work and tell others you're done working for domestic terrorists in the White House. Then, look around and see who else you can support to tap out.

1

u/IAmMyth Jan 26 '26

Yep. Just forget all the people of color. We only strike for real Americans... 🙄

2

u/Cinderunner Jan 29 '26

PROTESTS work. Show up and stand up. They really do.
