She’s a US citizen and white. You bet you could be next, no matter how insulated you think you are

I moved to Mexico when Trump was elected the first time. I was being proactive in ensuring my safety (I’m a white red head. It was not my race that made me feel unsafe. It was my politics.)

But the Mother Fucker is now about to start a war with Latin America leaving me vulnerable. You can’t run from MAGA level of hatred and greed. Trump’s evil has reach people don’t understand. I know it is old to keep referring to Hitler, but that man created world wide trama and sorrow. Trump is Hitler reincarnated.

As an Australian, I will say we are uniquely structured geographically to avoid most of the BS.

232

u/drainbamage1011 Jan 08 '26

You, uh, got a spare bedroom for rent?

2

u/Confident-Fold-5082 Jan 08 '26

Great question 😂

153

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad7606 Jan 08 '26

Want to adopt a middle aged American?

67

u/Imapatriothurrrdurrr Jan 08 '26

Spare bedroom with no huntsman spiders?

36

u/BiNumber3 Jan 08 '26

Gonna have to get comfy with the spiders lol

64

u/Imapatriothurrrdurrr Jan 08 '26

I’d rather be comfy with spiders than nazi pedophiles!

15

u/dudderson Jan 08 '26

OP is a huntsman spider.

Probably. Idk.

6

u/Quirky-Scar9226 Jan 08 '26

Crafty….that one! Lol

1

u/FreekDeDeek Jan 08 '26

Aren't Huntsmans the ones that look scary but are actually good to have around because they eat roaches and such?

2

u/BlyLomdi Jan 11 '26

Roaches and such? That such includes mice, rats and snakes. Oh, and giant centipedes.

1

u/Tsiah16 Jan 08 '26

In this economy?

They aren't harmful at least.

38

u/inky_fox Jan 08 '26

I’m a good cook! Adopt me!

25

u/Kyanpe Jan 08 '26

I'm joining yall in 2 weeks ❤️ guess I was smart to move to the country way the fuck out in the middle of the ocean

11

u/hear_the_thunder Jan 08 '26

Congrats! It will be an adventure!

u/SilvarusLupus Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

ngl if I had a better degree (like science/math) Australia would def be the place I'd be looking at to immigrate too. Sadly all I have is an Animation degree and work retail :/

8

u/hear_the_thunder Jan 08 '26

Look into it, you may have enough to move anyways

8

u/SilvarusLupus Jan 08 '26

Considering I got so roundly rejected while looking for an animation job for 8 years, I'm just afraid on top of the global unrest happening right now they won't see a use for me. I'm sure a lot of other (and richer) people are having this same thought too. And I worry about my mom because I know she won't move with me and she's getting older and I know she'll need my help (like physically). Worst comes to worst, I'll keep it in mind.

2

u/LemmeGetSum2 Jan 08 '26

Damn. Check your inbox.

3

u/SilvarusLupus Jan 08 '26

Thanks for the message, accidentally hit the wrong button DX I'll keep at it don't worry

2

u/Redshirt2386 Jan 09 '26

Try not having a degree at all. I’m 44 with a long and impressive resume, but no degree. That’s a nonstarter for immigration to Aus or NZ. ☹️

3

u/soedesh1 Jan 08 '26

I sure hope your country doesn’t have oil or minerals. If so you may soon have the Trump-Sydney Opera House.

2

u/hear_the_thunder Jan 09 '26

We got minerals. Our politicians are owned by the mining companies. There is no sovereign wealth fund.

3

u/Alicenok Jan 08 '26

Yeah, all we got was a nazi rally

3

u/shhhhh_h Jan 09 '26

HAHAHAHA why is my mother in law constantly facebooking me with her racist Aussie style MAGA bullshit. The rapture is coming, the Palestinians are evil, Trump is trying to save us from the Chinese invading. Babe it’s getting bad there, too. Do you live in the middle of Sydney or something

1

u/hear_the_thunder Jan 09 '26

My comment was more about geographical advantage.

Oh we definitely have our brain dead cultists here. But they are laughed at

1

u/shhhhh_h Jan 09 '26

Cult? It’s the whole ass Hunter Valley. My point is the geography hasn’t protected you at all from the ideology. And the Australian far right is nothing to sneeze at? I knew this even before I married in. Serious are you mid Sydney or Melbourne or something? Go like 30km inland and this is very normal. Pretending like this is a uniquely American problem is dangerous for the whole world. It’s also happening where I live now in Europe. No place is untouchable not in this technologically advanced world.

ETA Bondi was a direct backlash against the rise of those far right hate. Hate begets hate.

1

u/Alone-in-a-crowd-1 Jan 08 '26

How would you like to be attached to this shit show? 🇨🇦

Glad you can make jokes in a thread honoring a dead woman. Fcuking Aussie.

Yeah no. I was married to an Australian for 20 years and he would never make this kind of disgusting “joke”. Also butt the fcuk out, just keep strolling.

1

u/Tsiah16 Jan 08 '26

Maybe most of it, maybe for a while. Things are going south pretty hard in a lot of the world.

47

u/KeithHelm Jan 08 '26

Sorry to hear that. He’s really setting a new metonymy with nothing like it. That greed for money and power is insatiable. Be safe out there

6

u/markth_wi Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

Don't kid yourself, Hitler murdered millions but he genuinely had good intentions towards his followers - Trump would happily murder even more people but has no such positive intentions towards 'his' people.

And as these things go, I find myself listening to old Karis Nemik - be safe, remain civil for as long as possible.

6

u/SandpaperTeddyBear Jan 08 '26

You’ll be OK. Mexico has its issues, but for the most part her laws hold sway in truth where the lines on the map say they should. And while not a superpower, she’s not defenseless and not without friends (including within the US).

6

u/tinkerbelltoes33 Jan 08 '26

Same here! I’m a white American who moved to Mexico ten years ago (actually before Trump’s first term; politics had nothing to do with my emigration from the US) and now have 3 kids, all of whom were born here. I’m terrified for them and what their future may be like; I had always dreamt of going back to live in the US with them at some point, but I would fear way too much for their safety due to their race. Especially my youngest, who also has a physical disability. I don’t think the US is a good place for brown foreign-born people with disabilities at this point in time, as much as I hate to say it.

But then I wonder, if the US were to invade Mexico, where would it be safer for us to be? I’m about to get ready to seek asylum in Australia or something at this rate.

2

u/shhhhh_h Jan 09 '26

I’m going to memorise this to say to the next American I meet who moved to my country of residence to escape Trump. They’re not safe here. It’s just an easier place to stick their head in the sand and insulate themselves from it. It’s a privilege to try and run lol. I’m sorry the realisation for you comes via a looming threat of violence.

“You can’t run from MAGA level violence and hatred” facts. Cold. Hard. Facts.

2

u/AnusLeary41 Jan 08 '26

You can’t run from MAGA level of stupid. They’re everywhere.

They’ve already declared Antifa a terrorist organization with a definition so nebulous MAGA could qualify. They’re priming the pump for imprisoning or attacking anyone anytime.

u/twystoffer Jan 08 '26

Not me personally, I'm trans and in hiding.

But yes, they will kill us all unless we do something...

(Read between the lines)

217

u/Jurango34 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

My oldest is trans and we live in Texas. The struggle is very real.

123

u/thehobbit21 Jan 08 '26

Thank you for supporting them.

51

u/badmoonpie Jan 08 '26

I’m in Texas and queer. I have trans nephews I’m close to, also in Texas. It is scary, but you are not alone 💙

6

u/Brandimartini22 Jan 08 '26

I’m bisexual and not too far away in central AL. My brother’s precious child is queer, they’re 11. They’re a bit confused, regarding what they want to identify as in this moment, but I’ve told them no matter what, I’ll be supportive and respectful. Either way, idc. I love em all the same! They love their mustache, underarm hair, along with long leg hair. I think they’re the absolute bestest and really cool beyond their years. I don’t have kids, so I’ve always been super close to them since being born. I hope you have community support close by. I thankfully, just found some. I’m very happy as I didn’t think there would be that many near me. Take care and all the best to you!

24

u/falsifiable1 Jan 08 '26

Yes, thank you.

4

u/Dizziesdayweigh Jan 08 '26

Not all heros weather capes.

34

u/KeithHelm Jan 08 '26

Looking on the bright side, you’ve had to develop high vigilance and social awareness for your safety growing up. That will hopefully keep you safe in these times. This is unprecedented for so many young people today and they don’t have the defense mechanisms to deal with it

6

u/Dizziesdayweigh Jan 08 '26

As neurodivergent and fellow non-cis, i get your drift. Stay safe and love from this internet stranger.

33

u/OfferMeds Jan 08 '26

Yes, you personally, if you live in the US. All of us, personally.

55

u/Poop__y Jan 08 '26

OP is saying they don’t believe themselves to be insulated.

84

u/twystoffer Jan 08 '26

I meant I've been keenly aware of how much Ive been at risk for years now...this isn't a recent risk for those of us most at risk

3

u/ttampico Jan 08 '26

My girlfriend is trans. We live in a very blue city, one where trans people move to for safety, but we're still in the US and living under this hateful regime. Many times I've been holding her while she says "There no where else for me to go [to feel safe]."

Her mom wants us all to move to another country, but at the end of the day, my gal still wants to stay and fight for her country. I really look up to her (and not just because I'm much shorter).

2

u/jasmine-tgirl Jan 08 '26

You're not wrong.

2

u/Marciamallowfluff Jan 08 '26

Just want you to know I care and am protesting.

52

u/ChrisDolmeth Jan 08 '26

We don't need to be violent for them to kill us.

3

u/Both-Competition-152 Jan 08 '26

They currently are transvestigateing her to prove that it's justified I'm not even joking...

3

u/hopefulocto Jan 08 '26

What pisses me off the most about it is that people still wont care until it affects them or they realize it could. Of course it's better to wake up late than never, but it is still incredibly appalling to me that people let it get to this point before they started caring rather than caring literally a year ago when the first people started disappearing and dying. It disgusts me people dehumanized immigrants to justify their suffering. It disgusts me people have lost their empathy for other people, and sanewashed it until this point; and it still disgusts me some people are STILL trying to justify this because she was gay. I'm also gay. I've been aware my community will be targeted next since last year, but I cared before that. It's not about me. And now people are in the finding out stage where they will realize why justifying the destruction of other humans' rights is a slippery slope to the same method being used to strip their own; but again, WE SHOULD HAVE CARED LONG BEFORE THIS.

She didn't deserve to die, and neither did anybody before her. Not because she's a citizen, not because she's white; but because she's a human. This shouldn't happen to anybody. And the fact another innocent person has died because people refuse to wake the fuck up is beyond devastating.

2

u/Sensitive-Living-571 Jan 08 '26

So im out of the loop. I know she was killed by ice but why were they bothering her? She is white

5

u/Brandimartini22 Jan 08 '26

She was warning her neighbors of them and only blocks from her home. They’re full of hatred and cruel ICE agents who aren’t trained well or at all and instead of de-escalating the situation, they love to escalate and in this moment the ICE goon pulled a weapon and immediately fired through the front windshield by stepping towards her vehicle (her window was down) as she’d already backed up slowly and turned her wheels completely to the right to leave the area as they were trying to open her door and I’m sure drag her out for some insane and unlawful reason. She didn’t touch a single agent or even get close to them as she was slowly turning and the third goon is who stepped towards her vehicle and fired on her point blank, then fired two more times. It’s all on video and so horrific and tragic. Of course Trump&Cons are singing a different tune about her, but it’s lies. There’s a video showing what actually occurred. Play it in slow-mode and it’s very obvious as to what happened.

Also, in early December 25’, the out of control regime passed the (NSPM-7) directive, which makes “domestic terrorism” very vaguely worded. This now puts so many at risk by DOJ being allowed to investigate all kinds of people who don’t support the Trump/maga beliefs. It’s absolutely ridiculous and completely unconstitutional. You should check it out. Everyone should, honestly. This isn’t to scare anyone, but to inform others that aren’t aware of the updated version. I still support Jan.20th. Good for all! She was a kind and caring individual who loved her community. What’s wrong with being empathetic and respectful? Take care, ya’ll!

Arnold&Porter

2

u/Sensitive-Living-571 Jan 08 '26

Thank you for this detailed info. What a tragedy! I cant believe this is real life

2

u/Jorgedig Jan 08 '26

Because she was in a car. And queer.

2

u/jasmine-tgirl Jan 08 '26

And no amount of strongly worded letters to the manager will save anyone or bring her back.
