Advice Wanted Double strollers

I will be having a baby in August. My son will then be 23 months old. I think a double stroller would be a good thing BUT I’m not sure what’s best.. the kind where the baby is facing you and the toddler is facing outwards like a normal stroller OR when they’re both facing outwards. Anybody have experience with one and/or both and could help me decide which is best? I want to be able to see the baby but I also know they’ll only be that little for so long. Then I also think about how long my oldest will even need a stroller.

Wait and see if you need one.

I wasted money on a double when I was pregnant with my second (2u2). Never used it and sold when I was expecting my third (2u2/3u4).

We exclusively walk and use baby carriers. Grandparents and their dad sometimes use a single stroller for the youngest.

Side by side is easier to navigate. Your firstborn may not always want to be in the stroller - but sometimes containment is the only way in certain scenarios when out on your own with both

I think this depends so much on your oldest and how much they like the stroller. I have two double strollers now (21m age gap) and use them both equally. My nuna demi stays in my car because it can be a double or a single and is compatible with my infant seat. I love how low profile the second seat is, it goes down beneath in the basket. It’s so easy to maneuver with one or two kids in it because the size is unchanged. My other double is the Zoe twin, and I loooove this. I have the V2 so it’s compatible with my infant seat as well with adapters. I keep this by my front door for walks and bring it with me for the zoo, museums, theme parks. I love it because my oldest can climb in and out on his own, my baby is facing me in her infant seat so I can keep a close eye on her, and the stroller is narrow enough for normal doorways! I think what’s important is there is no one stroller that will fulfill all of your needs. I bought the zoe when my youngest was 6w old, but had my demi from when my first was born. I genuinely love them both and feel like I need them both haha.

I’m also team wait and see.

My oldest (22 month age gap) stopped liking the stroller around 18 months old, so I didn’t think I needed a double, but I didn’t factor in that she would see the baby in the stroller and then get jealous.

I have a side by side. Uppababy minu duo, Love it! My girls are 2 and 1 years old and we used it since my one year old was a newborn. You are able to get a car seat attachment for newborn or you’re also able to use it without a car seat since it has like a little bag that comes up and turns into an look a like bassinet type so baby is protected at all times. That’s what we did since day 1. We are expecting baby #3 and we are most likely going to do the same thing and use it for our 1 year old and newborn since my oldest is kind of not into the stroller anymore (but it comes in handy when you have to run errands alone and such)

Same with the minu duo and we love it too! I got it when my second was born and we still use it (she’s 1 and my son is almost 4). It’s pricey but worth the price, they are still very comfy in it. I did buy an evenflo dreamz wagon on offer up for a sturdier option when we go on trails since the minu can’t really do uneven terrain, but it’s perfect buying second hand.

I would wait until your baby is here to decide if you really want/need a double stroller.

I have a 22 month and a 1 month old. I bought a used stacked Graco double stroller before the baby was here, but I don’t think it’s going to be very practical. That thing is absolutely massive.

It BARELY fits into the trunk of my car , and I had to remove all the random attachments (sun shades, trays, etc) to make that work. I can’t envision myself taking it anywhere by car because it’s so large. The lady I bought it from said she only used it a couple of times for the same reason, and she actually had an SUV with much more storage space than I was working with.

I rarely baby wore my firstborn, but I’ve found it easiest to baby wear the newborn and put my older one in the single stroller or shopping cart when we’re out.

I’m trying to find a Graco double stroller on Facebook marketplace. Specifically want graco so it works with the infant seat we already have. It’s a sit to stand and I think my older would be into that. Figure if I don’t spend much on it and we only use it for travel or rarely, not a huge deal.

I got a side by side stroller with a bassinet attachment. Surprise! Baby prefers being worn and is not a huge fan of bassinet. It’s okay though. I often set him in the bassinet when I need to just put him down for a few. When he’s older I can put the regular seat on and he can face out with his brother
