Recommendations ⁉️ Help me plan a trip!
I’m planning a trip to the UK in December! We are looking to spend 2 nights in Wiltshire. To note- It’s just me and a girlfriend, both single mid-30s.
- we are looking for idyllic English country-side charm but would still enjoy visiting bars and pubs. Is Wilshire a good choice for this?
- if so, where should we stay?
Open to all suggestions, even if outside of Wiltshire!

Photos 📸 🌸🎮 Spring LAN 2026 was an absolute blast! 🎮🌸
galleryOn Saturday, 23rd May 2026, we held our Spring LAN 2026 event, and what a day it was!
Once again, we completely filled our venue. We battled our way through the fast-paced action of TimeSplitters Rewind, caused complete chaos in Super Mario 64 Co-Op Deluxe with Arena, Flooded, and Hide & Seek, and wrapped up the day with an incredible Xonotic showdown that made for the perfect main event.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this another amazing LAN. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces return, while also welcoming plenty of new faces into the community 💚
With plenty of pizza on hand and the sun shining throughout a beautiful bank holiday weekend, it was the perfect setting for a day of gaming with friends, both old and new. If you’d like to join us at a future event and become part of the community, hop into our Discord and say hello!
And now, the road to Summer LAN 2026 begins! ☀️🎮

Advice I’m going to be a tourist in Wiltshire for 2 days. What should I not do?
I’m visiting with my mum and I’d love to know what we shouldn’t do. We will stay in Devizes and check out the museum there and will visit the Avebury stones, as well as Marlborough the next day . I heard the market is on Thursday in Devizes so we will hopefully see that. Any advice on other places like Marlborough and Pewsey? Things to see or maybe not see or so.
We enjoy restaurants, sightseeing but not long hikes with my mum as she can’t walk that far.
Sorry if this breaks any rules, thanks for any advice on our trip

Trowbridge Multi Storey petition
Please sign the Trowbridge Multi Storey petition here: https://c.org/rTBzct6sgr
Trowbridge Multi Storey Car Park is still likely to be transferred to the owner of Castle Place at a taxpayer cost of >£3,500,000. This is the intention of Helen Belcher- WC cabinet member for economic development AND Trowbridge Mayor, Stewart Palmén....but there has been NO CONSULTATION and public comment has been ignored!
Whatever your view - if you think that a full public consultation should take place, then please sign up here: https://c.org/rTBzct6sgr
Currently, there is:
NO PLAN
NO FUNDING or FINANCING
NO DEVELOPER
.....so this site could be demolished and left as rubble for years to come - just like the Bowyers site!
The owner of Castle Place has failed to pay Business rates, and yet receives ~£80,000 per year in cell phone tower rental income.
Remember - wherever you live in Wiltshire - your council could do something like this in your area!

Emergency briefing film touring Wiltshire to raise awareness of climate emergency
uk.news.yahoo.comGood to see this film being screened by local groups in Wiltshire. It's fronted by Chris Packham and spearheads a major push to tell the British public the truth about the risks to the UK from the climate and nature crisis and about the solutions that exist - if we act fast enough.
Screenings focus on local action and the local MP is always invited and asked to ask the Government to do a prime-time, televised national emergency briefing on the crisis, mount a proper emergency response, and show international leadership.

How is living in Marlborough? 🏴
I’ve been researching Marlborough as a place to live as there’s a potential job opportunity I’m considering there.
I am Canadian, female, single, in early 30’s. How is it to live there for someone who doesn’t have a family? How welcoming is it to newcomers? Is it easy to meet people? I don’t necessarily mean dating but just making friends and building community. I like a relatively peaceful, quiet life but also like to go out occasionally for a drink, dinner, live music or art event. I don’t care for nightclubs but it’s nice when a place feels lively and has things going on, and if you want to go out for a drink with friends there is an atmosphere for that.
I am an artist and designer so I like that Marlborough has a lot of independent businesses and shops with some notable art & design presence (galleries and studios). Plus the lit fest, jazz fest, market, independent cinema. And forest and nature trails. Pedestrian-friendly is important to me.
Anyway, curious to hear from those who are familiar with it!

Pond Stones
Would anybody know where to source "pond stones" such as pictured at a reasonable price?
Ideally towards the north-west side of Wiltshire or Bath area?
Trying to find a rough edged/uncut flat slab that isn't slate.
Thanks!

Ever wanted to learn Power BI - Only for those who live or work in Swindon or Wiltshire
Ever wanted to learn PowerBI?
We've got a great, funded level 4 Data Analyst course starting at the end of April / start of May. If you've ever wanted to master Excel and then go on and learn Power Query and Power BI this could be a great course. It's delivered over Teams, but all with real trainers, no videos.
Only catch is that you have to be employed and either live or work in Swindon or Wiltshire.
If you're interested, either reply here or send an email to the team at [ask@skillsladder.co.uk](mailto:ask@skillsladder.co.uk) and we'll get more information over to you.
