Server names

Just curious what everyone named their servers.

I have WAY too many servers to bother with names. They are either product or function, always with a number.

Yeah, boring, but try keeping track of 70+ vm's/lxc containers.

That's what Ansible/Terraform and NetBox are for.

I use ansible and netbox extensively, still easier to use logical names. Probably a carryover from my day job, with thousands of vm's. Naming conventions carry value.

Are you running UnRaid bare metal or as VMs in Proxmox? (Out of curiosity)

Yeah, I'm enjoying using Netbox as an inventory source for Ansible.

don’t believe anything this guy says. nobody has thousands of servers and even if he does it’s not so bad
