I love core.

Dead and Bloated, 9/10 - Amazing intro. I really prefer the demo but either way its really great. I love the run through the world thinking about tommorow part.

Sex Type Thing, 9/10 - In my opinion a little little little overrated, but still an amazing song.

Wicked Garden, 7.5/10 - Really an overrated song, its not bad just super basic.

No Memory, (no rating) - Im not gonna rate this one, its more like an interlude. Very metallica-y

Sin, 10/10 - Such an amazing song. The chorus effect on the guitar in the demo feels like you're floating. Scott is perfect on all of it. The interlude is one of their best, especially with scotts melody.

Naked Sunday, 8/10 - Its pretty messy but still fun to listen to with some interesting lyrics.

Creep, 10/10 - I mean, cmon. Its creep.

Piece of Pie, 9.5/10 - Such an underrated song. Its so cool and tuff with biker bar energy.

Plush, 10/10 - Again, cmon.

Wet My Bed - 6/10 - Definitely the worst real stp song. Its more of an interlude, but its not great.

Crackerman, 10/10 - Sleeper banger, one of the best and most relistenable stp songs. I find myself going back to it a lot.

Where the River Goes, 10/10 - Ive heard its a nod to when the levee breaks. WTRG is an unbelievable song with such good vocals, the ending is what really elevates it to this 10/10. Its so underrated.

Overall: 9

Discussion Track by track review of Purple

Ive always been a bit of a critic towards purple, but thats mostly just because of a few tracks for me that hold it back.

Meatplow, 9/10 - I love meatplow. That opening riff is super killer, and i immediately learned the whole song on guitar the first time I heard it. Amazing solo too. Such an uncomfortable and odd metal song but its so good. Easily one of the best, so evocative.

Vasoline, 7.5/10 - Ok so, listen. I loooooove that opening riff. Its so trippy and cool. I really just cannot stand the "isn't you, isn't me" part. It feels like cliche pop they threw on the song to give it radio appeal. The thing that annoys me most with vasoline is it had so much potential to be amazing and that one part just isn't.

Lounge Fly, 8/10 - I really just have to be in the mood for this song. Sometimes the super psychadelia hits and sometimes I think it could have been executed a little better.

Interstate Love Song, 8.5/10 - I loooove the intro on this song, but after that I feel the song becomes moderately cliche. Some parts of it i live and some of it i cant stand.

Still Remains, 10/10 - Wow what a song. It has the pop edge like a lot of purple, but it works better for me. The emotional aspect of it is kinda cliche but its just too good. Perfect song.

Pretty Penny, 7/10 - I love Scotts voice on this song, but the overall song is a little flat, and the chorus riff is a little annoying.

Silvergun Superman, 10/10 - Such a heavy song. I love every part of it. The solo is super cool, i love that at the end they go into kinda a blues thing and then it fades out super studio psychedelic like. Amazing.

Big Empty, 10/10 (fav) - This song is so timeless. Something about it has such a longing and loneliness. It feels like so many different feelings. I cant even describe it. Time to take her home.

Unglued, 8/10 - This song is cool but honestly it wear itself out a little after the first minute. Cool surf rock stuff tho, and amazing dean solo.

Army Ants, 8/10 - Such a cool drum part, such a cool guitar part. The second half is a lot better than the first half, but its still overall really good.

Kitchenware and Candybars, 10/10 - No matter how you interpret the lyrics, this song is tragic. Its such a profound and depressing way to end an album with a lot of pop bangers. Its perfect, and every part of this song is just so well put together. Scotts voice is beyond beautiful.

Overall: 8.9

My first time seeing STP and it was a blast! Just wanted to share this little clip. I love how Dean just tosses his slide every time he’s done using it.

Tour This weekend…..

Well this weekend will be my first ever time seeing STP and my first time seeing a rock show live, i traveled all over the world going to rap festivals and making a name for myself as I slowly got older about to be 30 idk what made me switch my whole genre, I got into rock heavily and I started listening to STP and never looked back, I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this show but I will deeply heartbroken I won’t be able to ever see Scott with STP, I really would trade all the 48738843 rap and festival concerts I attended to see Scott, but as someone that battles with addiction I feel that’s why I was able to connect with Scott and STP to another level, I never would’ve thought a band or a person can change me so much mentally, I know this is a long message but I wanted to share how much STP changed me and I’m excited for this weekend!

Discussion Man. Dean’s guitar and tech were battling at the Wharf.

Spoilering the opener song in case someone else is going to the godsmack tour too.

Wicked Garden kicked off and then they had to stop it after the 3rd bar.

Dean’s guitar was having issues, and the tech was struggling to fix it. They were looking all over the amp and then had to reconnect a cable. But it took a few minutes.

Dean even came over and said it was a “testicular difficulty” lol.

But throughout the night, he was pissed and you could see him complaining over the guitar. It was going in and out… also sounded off at times. This was even after changing out to a different guitar.

I only rant about this since I was most looking forward to STP. They still rocked it where they could even with the technical difficulties.

Discussion What guitars did Dean use on STP's first five albums?

I've always assumed that most of Core was a Les Paul Standard. Every album after that has quite a lot of Telecaster. I'd like to know if anybody has any info on what guitars he used on specific songs on those albums. I do know that he used a Hofner hollowbody on the intro of "Interstate Love Song". "Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart" sounds like a Strat to me. I heard that he used a Les Paul Special quite a bit too. Does anybody else have any info?

I'm guessing it will include the recently released instrumental One Summer, along with unreleased songs performed live last november (Cry, Better Days, Celebration, Stare Down The Sun).

Discussion Adhesive

Post image
199 Upvotes

This song isn't really talked about as much compared to the rest of Tiny music. Its fairly underrated. Ive said this many times and I'll say it again, adhesive floors the rest of the bands discography. Its like so much better than the rest of the songs that it feels like it was written by a different band, and thats coming from someone who loves almost every stp song. Every element of the song is so perfect, the prog rock king crimson esque jazz chorus, the beautiful Scott singing in the verses, and the trumpet really ties it together. Calling adhesive a masterpiece is really an understatement, this may be the best song from any 90s rock band.

Hope I can discuss AoA here but I would like to have a discussion about these two records…Which were made only 4 years apart.

How do you feel about these albums? Do you find them similar stylistically?

Tour Tour setlist question

Hey everyone. I’ve been tracking their setlists on the tour so far. For the first three dates: 5/10, 5/12, and 5/14, setlist.fm lists Silvergun Superman.

I was just watching someone’s video on YouTube of the 5/14 Charlotte show, and they play Lounge Fly, tagged as Silvergun Superman by the OP.

SGSM doesn’t appear on another setlist.fm posting. 5/16 and 5/21 do show Lounge Fly however.

For anybody who might have been there, was SGSM played at the first two shows? And the third was a mistake? (on both YT AND setlist.fm)

TIA 🎸

Discussion Best stp 3 song run on an album?

Post image

What is the best 3 song run in the discography?

First Kiss on Mars - Maver - About a Fool. Easily the best 3 songs on the 2010 album. Super enjoyable and about a fool is one of the best stp songs. (Im aware about a fool is only a bonus track on the deluxe edition, i still think it should count).

Creep - Piece of Pie - Plush. The classic run from Core. 3 amazing and iconic stp songs.

I Got You - MC5 - Atlanta. 3 amazing songs on no. 4, 3 of the songs I listen to the most on No. 4.

Wonderful - Black Again - Hello Its Late - 3 of the most heart wrenching stp ballads and 3 of their best songs.

There is about 3 or 4 more of these but this one I liked the best. From my understanding it came from downloading Contraband by Velvet Revolver illegally. Still very beautiful.

Discussion Thoughts on Scott’s work with VR

So what are y’all’s thoughts on Scott’s work with Velvet Revolver? Do you like it as STP fans? Contraband came out in 2004, and I’m not saying it’s better than any of STP’s first three albums, but I genuinely think it can hold its own with them. That album is packed with bangers: “Slither,” “Fall to Pieces,” “Sucker Train Blues,” “Loving the Alien.” You can tell Scott still had a ton left in the tank creatively at that point.

And as much as I love the DeLeo brothers, come on, Scott Weiland and Slash together is just such a badass combination. Then you throw in Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum from Guns N’ Roses, and it’s almost impossible for that lineup not to make great music.

Discussion STP 2018 Opinions?

How do we feel about the self titled STP album without Scott from 2018l? Honestly for me, it had some okay songs but it just wasn't it..

And it's not even about the fact that Scott isnt there on the vocals, even the instrumental delivery and general vibe of the songs felt different from their core formula from the 90s in like 90% of the cases.
