Self-Promotion Overlanding from Europe (Cyprus), across Africa to South Africa! Just made it to your beautiful country!

Thanks for the warm welcome South Africa! I finally arrived after one year crossing Africa and the west coast.

I'm the first person from my country (Cyprus) to ride all the way down to South Africa! Although I'm sure you have seen many types making the trip down here, not too many from our small island have tried!

Finally made it to South Africa, and honestly, I can’t believe I’m saying that. This journey has been intense. There were moments I really thought I wouldn’t make it, but here I am.

It feels surreal seeing familiar faces after so long on the road. There’s so much to catch up on, and now I can finally start sharing everything that’s happened along the way, having good WiFi again, haha.

If anyone is around and wants to meet up, hit me up! I’ll be riding down to Cape Town at the end of the month. If you're somewhere along the route and want a visit, let me know. It would be awesome to connect with people while I’m moving again.

Here’s to the next stretch of the adventure. Happy to hear any tips as well!

ps: if you wanna follow me along the road you can check me https://www.youtube.com/@CyprusNiko or instagram the same name!

As much as I love to create art, a lot of my artwork is starting to take up too much space around my room and i’m looking for anyone who’s willing to buy for a negotiable price.

If you or anyone else is interested in any of these pieces please let me know!! message me for the sizing and how much you’re willing to pay, money on the paintings is just for scale.

Heya all - we created and published our own Afrikaans comic book called RivierBeheer. Its a supernatural thriller type and takes place in Stilbaai. You can get it from any of our Toyclick stores in the garden route at Stilbaai, Swellendam, Sedgefield or Plettenberg Bay. Or you can order online at on our site at Toyclick.co.za

The idea here is that we want to create cheap entertainment like Comics used to be - so its only R20

We will release and english version next year and we hope to release and even cheaper black and white version next year too :)

Your support, comments or just high fives would be greatly appreciated as this really is a labour of love. I shared a few random pages for your interest and comments :)

Self Why are people so unbelievably stupid?

I am blown away by the stupidity of people in general and South Africans specifically and have spent the morning dealing with people on my Facebook news feed who believe one or other version of the following :

  1. Covid 19 is caused by 5G Towers
  2. Covid 19 is actually a plot by Satan to put the mark of the beast on us
  3. Covid 19 is a global conspiracy to destroy the economies of the world for the coming new world order
  4. Covid 19 is being used by Bill Gates to implant us with micro chips so that we can be controlled .The chip will be in the coming vaccine .

The majority of the posters spreading this shit are middle class folk with some semblance of an education .People are poes stupid in this country

Self It has been one week since my nightmare ordeal. My family and I were held up at gunpoint and brutalized in a home invasion in Bryanston.

One Wednesday the 17 of June at 6:30pm I was in my room and heard what sounded like a cat was being killed. I opened my door and was immediately attacked by 4 armed males. They pointed guns at my head while I watched in horror as they violently assaulted my mother, stabbing her in the arm, beating her and breaking her leg. They tied me up and then attacked my dad. The were speaking in English and Zulu and said they were going to kill one of us. I pleaded with them to take everything and please don't hurt us anymore. One put a gun in my face, grabbed my beard and said "Nicholas, we know you". How did he know my name?

The 30 minute attack felt like a lifetime. While they searched the house, I turned to see my mom laying face up, eyes open with blood pouring out her mouth. I asked one robber if he killed my mother and he kicked her and said she is not dead because she is making noise. He said he will kill me if I talk again. I could not feel my hands and feet as they were so tightly bound and was ready to feel my head explode from a bullet. They dragged me to a spare bedroom while they ransacked the house further. Thank God they left and ADT came.

My dad managed to untie me and I untied my mom. She is 78 and has breast cancer. I carried her to the bathroom. She is still in the ICU at Sunningill hospital. It is an utter nightmare for me and I cannot cope. They won't let me see her because of Covid virus but my dad has managed to see her. I have awful visions and every noise scares me. The whole time my parrots were in my room and did not make a sound and I am so glad the robbers did not kill Bobbi and Giggles. As I write this I cannot stop shaking. My entire world has fallen apart. Every time I look at my hands and legs, the bruises and cut marks remind me more of this terrible attack. Every noise makes me jump. I have spoken to a trauma councilor. I cannot eat and have terrible nightmares when I can fall asleep.

Please folks, keep your bedroom windows closed at night and check your security. They had watched us and knew exactly our routine. They climbed over the neighbors wall to get to my moms window first and entered through there. The robbers stole wallets, cash, laptops, jewelry, phones and other valuables. I think we are only alive because I could not fight back and gave them everything. They were highly organized and this attack was not random. It felt like a military operation they way the leader commanded the other robbers. I am not well mentally and physically. My mom is deteriorating and there is nothing I can do.

I miss my mom so much, please hug your family for me. Stay safe out there people.

Self-Promotion From slums of Mumbai to suburbs of Johanesburg. My review after 10 years in South Africa.

I feel like this post will be a bit diffrent than all the other posts here.I just wanna flex a bit and tell you my story. I am really grateful for South Africa. I grew up in the slums of Mumbai and had a really rough time. When I was 18 I joined indian army and served 6 years. I had decent money saved and opted for university in south africa. University of Pretoria to be precise. I got my masters in economics and buisness managment. I am an excecutive now and proud to say I made it. I am expecting a baby soon. My negatives about this country would be absurd crime rate and the hate on indians . I give south africa a 9/10. Just wanted to share my story.

Self-Promotion Dropped out because of a R50k debt. Taught myself the rest. Still can't land a permanent job.

Hi there. I'm a 27 year old male who has been a creative since highschool. I fell in love with art growing up and initially decided to pursue graphic design in varsity. I'm initially from KZN , I have been living in Johannesburg since 2020 . I attended Rosebank college. I didn't pass 2 of my modules in my third year, I had to come back the following year to redo those modules but since I owed the institution money (Which was a little over R50 000) I wasn't able to complete my qualification.

Outside of school I freelanced as a graphic/brand designer. I initially was freelancing to save up the 50k but since I was dependent on myself, it was never enough. I really loved being able to turn someone's idea or passion into a real ,tangible thing they can see. Id always go above and beyond for my clients . Because I never completely obtained my qualification, freelancing was all I could do. No company was/is willing to take a gamble on a dropout . I mostly relied on word of mouth from previous clients and referrals.

I have applied to over 200 permanent jobs in the last two years with only a few interviews but nothing solid . Just your recruitment scams here and there and companies getting you to do actual design work disguised as interview assignments. There's nothing I haven't done, there's also no job hunting platform that I'm not on. I can guarantee you, no one has re designed and made their cv ats friendly more than me . I am the final boss of sending cold emails to agencies with my portfolio attached.

I have even thought of changing careers multiple times and moving back home.

The freelance gigs eventually slowed down drastically. To be honest, there weren't that many to begin with despite putting myself out there. I haven't had anything come up in the last since beginning of 2025 , so I'm really just surviving. I really want something stable and sustainable, a permanent position where I could contribute positively and work with a team that is as passionate about building brands from the ground up as I am. I'm honestly think I'm a really great designer, all I need is an opportunity

Any advice ?

Or connections ?

Self-Promotion Job opportunities for a Ndip Civil Engineering and Adv Dip Real Estate holder

Hi,

I hope everyone is doing well. If not, I pray you're able to keep your head above water.

I hold a National Diploma in Civil Engineering, with just over 3 years experience in sewer and water network installations and rehabilitation. I've gained this experience through companies that are in the stage of establishing themselves, so all employment contracts I signed were project based. With a promise that I'd be called back when a new project comes up. The lack of employment security has been frustrating...

My Uncle, who ran a property valuation company inspired me to enrol for a bachelor's and follow in his footsteps. Which I eventually did, and recently completed. He was going to employ, and mentor me on my path to professional registration. I was finally going to receive two things I've been yearning for in my professional career, employment security and a MENTOR. Unfortunately, he passed on.

It's been 6 months since my last contract, and are now asking for assistance in looking for work. I've been religiously applying, and have only received 1 interview, which didn't end up with an offer.

What am I doing wrong?
