Hello r/smashbros !

It's that time of year again... our compendium opens at 2:00 pm PDT (about 4 hours from this post)!!

I'm Ken (@Hot_Bid) and I'm here with Grace (@graceleecho) to answer your questions about Smash Summit 5.

Here are a few of the major changes we're making:

• One of the compendium goals is an extra stream day
• We'll be bringing back the group selection and RR groups

I'm Ken (aka Hot_Bid) and the creative lead on Smash Summit 5. The last Summit was my first event for BTS and I'm super excited to work on this one too. In the past, I've worked on StarCraft and Dota events as well as with Team Liquid. I main Falco and I'm a netplay friendlies warrior.

Grace works as a project manager / smash mom on all the Summits so far. She'll also be here to answer questions like which player doesn't check their email enough and who she plans on yelling at the most.

We'll be here answering your questions about Smash Summit 5 for the next few hours, but mostly let's talk about memes.

Kevin basically has a standing invite to come to Smash Summit whenever he wants. Our main concern though is how he's feeling so it's cool either way.

Is that an invite to show up and chill or an invite to compete? Like if he said today he feels fantastic would he be added to the voting despite not making the reqs?

It's an invite to hang out and commentate if he likes.

Obviously, everyone would love to see him compete but it's not really fair given our invite / vote in system if we just dropped him in the middle of it, nor do I think he'd even like to be inserted that way. He'll come back one day on his own terms hopefully :)

If PPMD decided he wanted to throw his hat in the ring for one of the popular vote slots, he'd clinch a first round slot in a landslide. If PPMD wants to compete at Summit, I don't think he'd have a problem getting there.
