Melee I am Hungrybox. I play Jigglypuff in SSBM, which made a lot of people upset over the years. Ask me Anything!

I figured I would do this since APEX 2014 is around the corner. I want to answer all sorts of questions about Smash and Life in general.

Disclaimer: I won't answer questions about Mango/his AMA. He's a father now and I'd rather not put any stress or dumb stuff on his family. The baby is cute as fuck too. I look forward to playing him and the other pros in a couple of weeks!

Hey Hbox! Props from Canada.

  1. My general impression of you is someone who's really well-spoken (mainly from SmashDoc); do you have any thoughts about the contrast between older players and younger ones in terms of their personalities? Is there a maturity disconnect?
  2. Why do you think pro Smashers seem to have a hard time engaging on Twitter? I follow a bunch of you, and it seems pretty rare that you guys post, especially in comparison with pros from other games.
  3. How hype was the MattDotZeb vs. Kage pools match from ROM76?

Thanks, and I hope to shake your hand one day.

Maturity hits everyone differently. I've been very sensitive to opinions about me, but moreso when I was younger since I didn't have too much self-esteem. I always feel for people when they're unjustly picked on and I try to do my best to treat others how I would be treated but I can't be perfect. I've always liked speaking and I feel like I was born with an ability to speak well in front of crowds or just use proper phrases and euphemisms to get a point across.

Twitter's just never had the same appeal and worldwide connection that Facebook gives. Smash is a game with so many nuances it just begs to be discussed in a forum, and FB was the next best thing once Smashboards got updated and it became kinda shitty so everyone migrated to regional groups on FB.

The MDZ Kage pools match was so hype that I threw up my entire body, creating a singularity that shifted the orbit of the Earth by a few milliseconds.

Thanks for the answers. I guess my perspective is from League of Legends, where Twitter is a huge factor in people becoming their own personalities and cultivating their own fanbases.

Facebook for discussion makes sense, but I meant more in a marketing capacity. Is that something you think about?

Tell her to learn coding or marketing or be interested in business or something. It will help her get a gig much faster.

She already got a decent gig but thanks for the advice :)
