Subreddit Meta Misinformation or Misleading posts and comments will not be tolerated
This mod-post is made in accordance with Rule 11 of the subreddit which addresses the spread of misinformation regarding the series, its author, the staff, and the production process. As it states:
>> Do not post fake or edited pictures/statements without declaring them as such.
>> When making claims about the Hajime Isayama, the anime staff or other individuals involved in the production, or the production process itself, add a reliable (non-clickbait) source. You are required to directly link to this source somewhere in your post or comment. Screenshots, especially edited ones, are not considered sufficient sources.
This rule has been implement for almost more than a year now however, we have observed a spike in the submissions featuring misleading titles, misinterpreted or misquotes attributed to Isayama, and outright false information about the series. This, obviously, contributes to the spread of misinformation, especially as many users may not verify every claim they encounter while scrolling. Unfortunately over time such unverified or false claims are now accepted as facts within the community.
Recent posts citing new statements from Isayama, that are getting posted every few hours, without proper sourcing or context are a clear example of this issue.
This subreddit is meant to facilitate thoughtful and informed discussion about the series, and we won't be allowing misinformation to undermine that purpose.
Therefore moving forward, any submission that includes:
⢠Misleading or Clickbait titles
⢠Misquoted or altered statements
⢠Claims about the author, staff, or production without a reliable source
will result in a one-week ban.
This obviously does not mean you are prohibited from expressing your views on the author, discuss your interpretation of his words or pass any judgement. We only ask that his actual words be presented first, exactly as they are without any alterations, so readers could form their own conclusion before considering your perspective.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this situation. You can also assist us by reporting any submissions that violate Rule 11, or any other rule of the subreddit for that matter.

Anime Finished watching Attack on Titan and I think I made a mistake

It is one of the best things I have ever watched. I was never really an anime guy, but this show and Death Note completely changed my perspective, like they probably have for a lot of other people. The problem is, I feel like I made a mistake by watching AoT so early in my anime journey. It set the bar so high that I don't think any anime will top the experience of watching Attack on Titan for the first time. Maybe it's just the feeling of finishing such an amazing show.
If you have any recommendations for anime similar to Attack on Titan and Death Note that aren't too long, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Discussion Itās been a week, and Iām still grieving
I started watching Attack on Titan in January. From the get go, I knew this was going to be the best show I had ever watched, and knowing that made me want to take it as slowly as I can, cherishing each episode and the characters in them. This was also my introduction to anime (I used to be a hater but I have since repented of my sins).
Since January, I had been doing my best to watch one episode a night before I went to bed. AoT was my reward at the end of the day, for half of this year, and for all of the plot twists, character development, and of course the love story going on between Eren and Mikasa, nothing made me want to go to bed at a good time like watching AoT.
But then, outta nowhere, the season finale absolutely rips my heart out, like no other show has managed to do.
Mikasa was my favorite character since the start, for different reasons. At first, it was because of her tragic backstory, beautiful season 1 outro, and the fact that sheās so badass. And later, it was because I realized that the purest thing in the entire show was her love for Eren.
So why? Why leave her at the base of a tree next to his grave?
Arguably, Mikasa was the most innocent character as far as unnecessary lives taken. If anyone ādeservedā their happy ending, itās Mikasa. And her love for Eren was so tireless, patient, and unconditional to the mental, emotional, or physical state he was in. Thatās so countercultural to the way that most shows and movies portray love as these few fleeting, shallow moments before a hyper romantic scene later on. It felt real compared to that bullshit. And the cabin scene was the ultimate knife-twist, showing what their life couldāve looked like had Mikasa been more vulnerable.
It struck a chord in me that no cinematic story ever has, and I couldnāt imagine it getting topped by something else. Iām trying to heal, and I even created a whole playlist on Spotify that tells the story of the final few chapters, called āSee You Later, Erenā (the album cover is her sitting at the tree). I canāt think about her without hurting. Isayama, for this beautiful world that you gave us, Iām so grateful. And I understand that the circumstances made Eren and Mikasa impossible.
But no amount of logic is going to heal me. Iām hurting, and everything that I do, everything that I watch, every bit of media that I consume; everything I do to try and fill the Eremika-shaped hole in my heart isnāt working. It all feels pointless, knowing that Mikasaās sitting at the tree. You were so unfair to her.
If anyoneās willing to help me, Iām stuck between wanting to heal, and needing to remember. I never want to forget the wound that this beautiful show left on me, but I want to be able to enjoy another show without feeling like a cheating partner. Because if I move on, Iāve also left Mikasa under the tree. I canāt even hardly listen to music that doesnāt remind me of the two of them hurting from the separation.
So please, AoT community. Youāve been doing this for much longer than me, and I need your help. How do I move on, heal from this wound without forgetting how special the journey was? I need you guys.

Anime Rewatching the series for the first time since s4 p2 released, what are these harpoon-looking things called?
First time watching since the pandemic, this appeared in episode 3 in season 2, i don't remember seing this weapon before, but i bet it's more effective than a cannon when used against titans, does this ever see use on screen?
EDIT: I'm stupid, I did some checking and people have discussed it on this subreddit before, and I would like to clarify my question is of there's any clips of them in action

Discussion Why do you guys think Anime Fans loved the AOT ending compared to the Manga Fans who Hated it/has Mixed feelings bout it? I just finished rewatching the show and all story beats in the anime are exactly the same as the manga, so I'm curious how exactly this happened?
AOT ending in anime is very high rated on almost all platforms with consensus that it was a very satisfying conclusion.
Compared to that the manga ending was very divisive to the point multiple subreddits became AOT hate subreddit after reading it and ppl started wishing for an anime original ending. Many fan fiction endings became popular and one of them even got animated by fans. Even now those subreddits continuously slander the author again and again just out of spite.
This level of stark contrast between these two mediums is kinda baffling tbh. Especially considering the fact that the story beats are almost exactly the same with few minor changes. I know anime can elevate the source material but still... AOT was always known/popular for its storytelling so pretty visuals and extended fights cannot change ppl's opinion THIS drastically.
I wasnt really present during the release of final chapter of the manga so i dont exactly know how it played out.

Discussion Does anyone else notice that many of the female characters in aot only end up happy when in a relationship/motherhood while most the male characters are allowed to end up single? Just noticing
This might just be me but itās a trend that Iāve noticed with other anime, so I canāt fully blame Isayama. But I do want to point this out as this kinda feels a sexist bias. And the ones that. Do you end up single? Are usually dead or forgotten. Hell, even some dead ones at the end of the series still kinda centered around a relationship. Between someone.

Discussion Why dont people talk about the most obvious plot hole in aot?
People have independently calculated thr amount of collasal titans in the walls by the walls circumference and the shoulder width of the titans. A modest estimate is 500k. Yet that amount is nowhere near close enough to trample 80 percent of the world in just a few days given their spee

Discussion What were some theories about the origin of the Titans before the reveal?
I was looking at this subject in a very superficial way until I came to a comment that brought a very nonsense theory, but quite cool and interesting. That the planet in AOT was not exactly Earth, but an alien world in which the titans were the native people and hence their apparent irrational hatred for humanity, that they would be invaders of this extraterrestrial world, in theory indicated something like ancestral humans having arrived on this planet and after centuries humans believe that this is actually Earth, because they lost knowledge of the truth. It's obviously a meaningless theory, based entirely on guesswork, but I wanted to know, some more theories that dealt with the origin of the titans before it was revealed what they were, etc.
