A Sumatran orangutan was born at the Orientarium Zoo Łódź in Poland on April 1, 2026. This is a historic event, as it is the first ever birth of a Sumatran orangutan in a Polish zoo.
There is a vote now for this little guy name, options are Senyum and Samadhi. His parents are Ketawa and Budi.

Sign this petition help save orangutan’s
We all love orangutans and sadly due to palm oil harvesting these beautiful animals are expected to not be here in years to come.

This historical Borneo Documentary is animal abuse
Granted it's from 1937 but the violent capture of a majestic orangutan to put him in a zoo is deeply disturbing.

Are orangutans in Batu Katak wild
I’m thinking of heading to Sumatra to see wild orangutans. I’ve read a lot about ketambe being the place where they are truly wild whereas they are fed in Bukit Lawang.
I came across a place called Batu Katak, where some people say they are really wild. Does anyone know if they are really wild and not fed or is Ketambe the only place in Sumatra with 100% wild orangutans?

Help! Trying to find old Oragutan image.
I have been tasked with writing a paper on a visually compelling image that sends a message. I remembered a picture (I think I saw it on this sub) of an orangutan, looking very sad, clinging to a tree in an area decimated by the palm oil folks. I tried looking for the picture via Google, but couldn't find the same one. I can use a different Pic if I need to (I can't resist the chance to make this paper about orangutans) but wanted to check with all of you first, just in case I can find that amazing photo. Does anyone remember it? Or, can you think of another really good one?

I wanna share this giant orangutan plush I had since my teens (I’m in my late 30’s now)
I bought her at a Sanrio store. I’m not sure why she was there since she’s not a Sanrio character. Her tag says NAKAJIMA ORIGINAL. A different Japanese brand. Her belly has a squeaker and she squeaks when you press on it! Her hands have velcro so she can hang on things or you can put her arms around your neck and give her a piggyback ride. 😅
